Seeing with the Holy Spirit

You cannot give yourself your innocence, for you are too confused about yourself. But should one brother dawn upon your sight as wholly worthy of forgiveness, then your concept of yourself is wholly changed. …And as you give your trust to what is good in him, you give it to the good in you.

By focusing upon the good in him, the body grows decreasingly persistent in your sight, and will at length be seen as little more than just a shadow circling round the good. And this will be your concept of yourself, when you have reached the world beyond the sight your eyes alone can offer you to see. For you will not interpret what you see without the Aid That God has given you. And in His sight there is another world. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VII.2:4-5,8;3:3-6)

We have one purpose now — to see everyone through the forgiving eyes of Christ. Our one goal is to let this shift occur. This coming year will be filled with miracles as we consistently step back and let the Holy Spirit replace all thoughts of guilt, limitation and lack. We see every brother as the Holy Spirit sees him. And as we see him, we see ourselves.

As we allow the Holy Spirit to be in charge of our minds, we are filled with peace, Love and joy. With this as our only purpose, 2013 will be a year of forgiveness. And a happy year it will be indeed.

Letting the Love We Are Shine Through

You have need to use the symbols of the world a while. But be you not deceived by them as well. They do not stand for anything at all, and in your practicing it is this thought that will release you from them.

Use all the little names and symbols which delineate the world of darkness. Yet accept them not as your reality. The Holy Spirit uses all of them, but He does not forget creation has one Name, one meaning, and a single Source which unifies all things within Itself. Use all the names the world bestows on them but for convenience, yet do not forget they share the Name of God along with you. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.184.9:2-4;11:1-4)

We walk softly in the world as we remember that all the images we see and the names we give them really stand for nothing. They are not real and they cannot affect the truth in us at all. As we recognize this, we can step back and let go of the importance we have given these symbols. They have no power to affect us one iota. We remain safe in eternal Love. This is our reality.

Any time our peace is disturbed, it is because we are giving meaning to a symbol that in truth has no meaning. This disturbance thus becomes a reminder to take the symbol or image to the Holy Spirit and ask for help to see it as He sees it. He will show us that nothing is really there except Love. No harm is possible. No defense is needed. We need only let the Love that we are shine through. This is our practice today.

Walking to Heaven with the Holy Spirit

There is no life outside of Heaven. Where God created life, there life must be. In any state apart from Heaven life is illusion. At best it seems like life; at worst, like death. Yet both are judgments on what is not life, equal in their inaccuracy and lack of meaning. Life not in Heaven is impossible, and what is not in Heaven is not anywhere. Outside of Heaven, only the conflict of illusion stands; senseless, impossible and beyond all reason, and yet perceived as an eternal barrier to Heaven. Illusions are but forms. Their content is never true.

How can you know whether you chose the stairs to Heaven or the way to hell? Quite easily. How do you feel? Is peace in your awareness? Are you certain which way you go? And are you sure the goal of Heaven can be reached? If not, you walk alone. Ask, then, your Friend to join with you, and give you certainty of where you go. (A Course in Miracles, T-23.II.19:1-9;22:6-13)

The Holy Spirit is our Guide out of hell to return to full awareness that we remain safely in Heaven. We choose the ego as our guide only because it seems to offer something that we value more than Heaven. In the Light of truth, this seems insane, and it is. But in the darkness of the ego thought system, our belief makes the insane seem sane. We need the Holy Spirit’s Light to shine away the darkness.

A Course in Miracles shows us the insanity of the ego thought system to motivate us to choose another Guide. Today we choose to walk with the Holy Spirit as our Guide. With His help we will recognize the nothingness of the ego’s images and welcome the reality of our Home in Love. This is our practice for today.

In God We Live in Gentleness and Joy

The Thought of God created you. It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from it an instant. It belongs to you. By it you live. It is your Source of life, holding you one with it, and everything is one with you because it left you not. The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. Eternity and everlasting life shine in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.165.2)

Today we desire to remember God above all else. We join with Holy Spirit in seeing the world differently. We allow ourselves to see that only Love is there, behind the images of separate bodies and separate forms. We allow the peace and joy of our true nature to be remembered and extended to the world. This is our purpose for today, and every day.

To remember God is to remember our Self. It is to remember our perfect protection and our eternal Love. It is to live and be in gentleness and joy.

Today I See with Christ’s Vision

Christ’s vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees.

And this you give today: See no one as a body. Greet him as the Son of God he is, acknowledging that he is one with you in holiness. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.158.7:1-5;8:3-4)

Today we are willing to let the veil be lifted to see the eternal truth about every brother. We open to seeing every brother as the Holy Spirit sees him. As we receive the gift of truth, we extend it to all the world. This is our most important function. This is forgiveness. Every brother we think of we see as the holy Son of God he is. We see that we are one in God’s holiness.

Superman’s x-ray vision could be a metaphor for Christ’s vision. As Superman could see through buildings, Christ’s vision sees past the images of the world to the Light of truth that is the core of all God’s creation. Bodies and all images of form are gossamer veils that are easily seen past when we accept Christ’s vision.

Today we take the Hand of Holy Spirit and let Him show us the vision of Christ. With His help, we will see the innocence and Love that is the truth in all. With His help, we will disregard the images of the world and join with the Love that is ever-present. It will be a day of joy, for it will be a day of remembering Who we are.

Welcome Peace and Remember God

The memory of God comes to the quiet mind. It cannot come where there is conflict, for a mind at war against itself remembers not eternal gentleness. The means of war are not the means of peace, and what the warlike would remember is not love. War is impossible unless belief in victory is cherished. Conflict within you must imply that you believe the ego has the power to be victorious. Why else would you identify with it? Surely you realize the ego is at war with God. Certain it is it has no enemy. Yet just as certain is its fixed belief it has an enemy that it must overcome and will succeed.

Let all this madness be undone for you, and turn in peace to the remembrance of God, still shining in your quiet mind. (A Course in Miracles, T-23.I.1;8:9)

If we want to remember God and our Self, we must welcome God’s peace. His peace is already ours, but we must be willing to step back from the seeming conflicts in our world and allow ourselves to remember the peace that is always within us.

The ego is threatened by peace and will always come up with reasons for why we don’t have time or shouldn’t take time to go to peace. The maintenance of conflict is essential to the ego’s conviction that it is real. But as we are told here, the ego is an illusion, nothing, and conflict between illusions is conflict between nothing.

Our belief in the ego thought system of separation makes conflict seem real and defense seem justified. But when we are willing to welcome peace, we make way for the Holy Spirit to show us the unity of Love that lies behind the veil of conflict. Here is where all problems are quietly resolved. Here, in the peace of God, is where we remember that we remain as God created us—eternally Love and eternally loving.

Today we dedicate to peace first, that we may remember God.

Accepting the Christ Within

This Christmas give the Holy Spirit everything that would hurt you. Let yourself be healed completely that you may join with Him in healing, and let us celebrate our release together by releasing everyone with us. Leave nothing behind, for release is total, and when you have accepted it with me you will give it with me. All pain and sacrifice and littleness will disappear in our relationship, which is as innocent as our relationship with our Father, and as powerful. Pain will be brought to us and disappear in our presence, and without pain there can be no sacrifice. And without sacrifice there love must be. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.XI.3)

To let ourselves be healed completely, we must be willing to let the Holy Spirit replace all the images we have made. His vision will show us the Love that is the one Self we share as God’s Creation. Every image we make up in the dream of separation “hurts” us by making us unaware of the joy and peace and Love that we are. No one is excluded from this Love. This is why release is complete only when we release all the interfering images that hide the face of Christ from our awareness. There can be no exceptions if we would know the Christ within.

Today is dedicated to the practice of giving every thought of separation to the Holy Spirit to be undone. With this practice, we make way for “peace on earth and goodwill toward all men.”
