The Unlimited Love of God Is Ours to Receive and Give

My Self is holy beyond all the thoughts of holiness of which I now conceive. Its shimmering and perfect purity is far more brilliant than is any light that I have ever looked upon. Its love is limitless, with an intensity that holds all things within it, in the calm of quiet certainty. Its strength comes not from burning impulses which move the world, but from the boundless Love of God Himself. How far beyond this world my Self must be, and yet how near to me and close to God!

Father, You know my true Identity. Reveal It now to me who am Your Son, that I may waken to the truth in You, and know that Heaven is restored to me. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 252, W-pII.252. See also ACIM Lesson 252 Insights.)

The Love of God is What are. Today we open to this truth that our minds be healed of all false thoughts of being separated from Love… Today we let ourselves feel God’s Love… We feel His strength in us… We feel His certainty of our innocence… We feel God’s peace… We take time to identify with His Love that we feel and know as our true Identity…

It is true that we are one with God’s Love and we extend it to the world. That is our only function now. Accepting the truth that we are God’s Love brings us peace, happiness and gratitude.

How to Lead the Good Life

Once you accept His plan as the one function that you would fulfill, there will be nothing else the Holy Spirit will not arrange for you without your effort. He will go before you making straight your path, and leaving in your way no stones to trip on, and no obstacles to bar your way. Nothing you need will be denied you. Not one seeming difficulty but will melt away before you reach it. You need take thought for nothing, careless of everything except the only purpose that you would fulfill. As that was given you, so will its fulfillment be. God’s guarantee will hold against all obstacles, for it rests on certainty and not contingency. It rests on you. And what can be more certain than a Son of God? (A Course in Miracles, T-20.IV.8:4-12. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

Because God’s Will for us is perfect happiness, to live the good life is to live the Life we share with God. A life of perfect peace and quiet, eternal joy cannot be found in the world of separation. The world can only offer us illusions, which can never fulfill our hearts desire.

The desire of our true Self is to be and extend Love and nothing else. We cannot do this while we identify with the body as our identity. It is a false image that hides our true Self from our awareness. It is time to shift our allegiance from belief in a false image to the acceptance of our Reality as an extension of the Love of God. To do this we need help from outside the thought system that made the world we experience in a body.

To lead the good life, we need to follow the Guide Who knows what it is. As we practice letting the Holy Spirit clean our thoughts of false images by showing us the truth that lies beyond them, we move into the Life of Love we share with God. Today we ask our inner Guide to help us see the Love behind all images.

Recognizing Where Our Real Value Lies

Today we practice letting go all thought of values we have given to the world. We leave it free of purposes we gave its aspects and its phases and its dreams. We hold [the world] purposeless within our minds, and loosen it from all we wish it were. Thus do we lift the chains that bar the door to freedom from the world, and go beyond all little values and diminished goals.

Pause and be still a little while, and see how far you rise above the world, when you release your mind from chains and let it seek the level where it finds itself at home. It will be grateful to be free a while. It knows where it belongs. But free its wings, and it will fly in sureness and in joy to join its holy purpose. Let it rest in its Creator, there to be restored to sanity, to freedom and to love.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 128, W-pI.128.5-6. See also ACIM Lesson 128 Insights.)

The body is an image made by the ego as a substitute for our Identity in God. When we identify with the body as what we are, we deny our Identity in Love and thus experience lack of Love. As long as we identify with the body, we are on a constant search to find the Love we seem to have lost. There is nothing in the world that can replace the Love we are but are unaware of. The ego can only offer empty substitutes which do not satisfy, in keeping with its motto, “seek and do not find.”

Yet there is a way to return to full awareness of the Love we are. We need to let go of all value we place on any form in the world. As we let go of the value we place on the valueless, the experience of the Love we are will return to our awareness. This is where we find true and lasting happiness, God’s eternal gift to His one Son.

Today we practice remembering that the world holds nothing that we want. We open our minds to let the Holy Spirit show us where our real value lies.

Holy Spirit, I Am Listening

For this alone I need; that you will hear the words I speak, and give them to the world. You are my voice, my eyes, my feet, my hands through which I save the world. The Self from which I call to you is but your own. To Him we go together. Take your brother’s hand, for this is not a way we walk alone. In him I walk with you, and you with me. Our Father wills His Son be one with Him. What lives but must not then be one with you? (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 171, W-pI.V.In.9:2-9. See also ACIM Lesson 171 Insights.)

The Course tells us that we must teach what we want to learn. If we want to learn to live in God’s peace and joy, we need to let the Holy Spirit guide all our thoughts and all our doing. Under His guidance we will teach what the Holy Spirit teaches us and we will learn the Holy Spirit’s lesson that we remain as God created us: We are Love and nothing else. His guidance will teach us to recognize the Love in every brother and join with the Love that is our brother. Thus we will teach our brothers that they are Love and learn we are also Love.

Today we dedicate to listening to the Holy Spirit’s lesson.

Accepting the Loving Thoughts We Share with God

We practice coming nearer to the light in us today. We take our wandering thoughts, and gently bring them back to where they fall in line with all the thoughts we share with God. We will not let them stray. We let the light within our minds direct [our wandering thoughts] to come home. We have betrayed [the thoughts we share with God], ordering that they depart from us. But now we call them back, and wash them clean of strange desires and disordered wishes. We restore to [our wandering thoughts] the holiness of their inheritance.

Thus are our minds restored with [the thoughts we think with God], and we acknowledge that the peace of God still shines in us, and from us to all living things that share our life. We will forgive them all, absolving all the world from what we thought it did to us. For it is we who make the world as we would have it. Now we choose that it be innocent, devoid of sin and open to salvation. And we lay our saving blessing on it, as we say:

The peace of God is shining in me now.
Let all things shine upon me in that peace,
And let me bless them with the light in me.

The peace of God brings with it the Light of Love. As we let ourselves dwell in the peace of God, we become like a lighthouse, broadcasting the Light of Love to all who seem to be lost in their wandering thoughts. The peace of God is forever shining in us. As we practice letting the peace of God within us become stronger in our awareness, our Light shines brighter and that Light of Love reflects back to us, reminding us of the Love we are. Our joy is magnified as we join with our brothers in the remembrance of the loving Thoughts we share with God.

Defenseless Guarantees Our Happiness

We look past dreams today, and recognize that we need no defense because we are created unassailable, without all thought or wish or dream in which attack has any meaning. Now we cannot fear, for we have left all fearful thoughts behind. And in defenselessness we stand secure, serenely certain of our safety now, sure of salvation; sure we will fulfill our chosen purpose, as our ministry extends its holy blessing through the world.

Be still a moment, and in silence think how holy is your purpose, how secure you rest, untouchable within its light. God’s ministers have chosen that the truth be with them. …Who could be surer that his happiness is fully guaranteed? And who could be more mightily protected? Today we willingly follow Holy Spirit’s lead. We are receptive and open to His inspiration through the day. We practice not deciding anything on our own, remembering we have a Teacher right in our mind, there to help us every step of the way. We don’t defend against this help, but welcome it with open arms.

We remember we are not on our own. For every apparent problem, His help is with us. We remember His strength is with us.

The Blessing of Christ’s Vision

Christ’s vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees.

See no one as a body. Greet him as the Son of God he is, acknowledging that he is one with you in holiness.

We practice seeing with the eyes of Christ today. And by the holy gifts we give, Christ’s vision looks upon ourselves as well. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 158, W-pI.158.7;8:3-4;11:3-4. See also ACIM Lesson 158 Insights.)

We open to the vision of Christ by letting go of the past and setting aside our judgments. This is how we welcome Christ’s vision in our minds. Because Christ’s vision sees no one as a body, it gives no meaning to what the body does. Without meaning, the appearance of a body is easily dismissed from our attention so we can see the Light of Love’s creation beyond the empty image.

As we welcome this, what used to disturb our peace fades away and we become aware of the innocence and loveliness of our brother. Now we see with Holy Spirit’s vision and we realize we are seeing a reflection of our Self. We recognize that we share this one Self with everyone. A world that seemed to be fraught with danger and attack becomes a place of safety and of peace. We are blessed as Christ’s vision blesses through us.
