Let Love Decide

You can be perfect witness to the power of love and justice, if you understand it is impossible the Son of God could merit vengeance. You need not perceive, in every circumstance, that this is true. Nor need you look to your experience within the world, which is but shadows of all that is really happening within yourself. The understanding that you need comes not of you, but from a larger Self, so great and holy that He could not doubt His innocence. Your special function is a call to Him, that He may smile on you whose sinlessness He shares. His understanding will be yours. And so the Holy Spirit’s special function has been fulfilled. God’s Son has found a witness unto his sinlessness and not his sins. How little need you give the Holy Spirit that simple justice may be given you.

You have the right to all the universe; to perfect peace, complete deliverance from all effects of sin, and to the life eternal, joyous and complete in every way, as God appointed for His holy Son. This is the only justice Heaven knows, and all the Holy Spirit brings to earth. Your special function shows you nothing else but perfect justice can prevail for you. And you are safe from vengeance in all forms. The world deceives, but it cannot replace God’s justice with a version of its own. For only love is just, and can perceive what justice must accord the Son of God. Let love decide, and never fear that you, in your unfairness, will deprive yourself of what God’s justice has allotted you. (A Course in Miracles,T-25.VIII.12;14. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

We cannot look to the world or our past experiences in the world to understand fairness and justice. The world is made by the belief in inequality (specialness). It is a picture of injustice because it is the denial of the justice of God’s Love given equally to all. The little separate self we believe we are cannot be fair because it is unaware of God’s perfect Love.

But hidden beneath the image of the little self is the Self that is perfect Love, united with Its Creator. This Self is fair because it sees only the reality of Love everywhere. It is to this Self we must look for guidance for in all things.

Let us join together in the practice of letting Love decide how to perceive all things in the world. This is how we bring salvation to the world and ourselves.

Accepting the Gift of Healing

You must look upon your illusions and not keep them hidden, because they do not rest on their own foundation. In concealment they appear to [rest on their own foundation], and thus they seem to be self-sustained. This is the fundamental illusion on which the others rest. For beneath [the illusions], and concealed as long as they are hidden, is the loving mind that thought it made them in anger. And the pain in this mind is so apparent, when it is uncovered, that its need of healing cannot be denied. Not all the tricks and games you offer it can heal it, for here is the real crucifixion of God’s Son.

And yet he is not crucified. Here is both his pain and his healing, for the Holy Spirit’s vision is merciful and His remedy is quick. Do not hide suffering from His sight, but bring it gladly to Him. Lay before His eternal sanity all your hurt, and let Him heal you. Do not leave any spot of pain hidden from His light, and search your mind carefully for any thoughts you may fear to uncover. For He will heal every little thought you have kept to hurt you and cleanse it of its littleness, restoring it to the magnitude of God. (A Course in Miracles,T-13.III.6-7. The Great Healer of all our pain, suffering, fear and guilt is in our mind, given us by our Creator. But He can heal only what we are willing to be healed. If we keep our guilt, fear, anger and hatred hidden, they cannot be healed.

Healing requires our willingness to accept it. We must be willing to give up the isolation of a separate identity. We must be willing to let go of the need to have special favor, something we keep for ourselves alone. God’s Love is total, given equally to all. The moment we attempt to limit Love, we have lost awareness of what Love is. Fear takes Its place in the illusion of separation in which competition and attack prevail. But only illusions can attack illusions. Illusions are simply projections of our belief in separation.

The source of all illusions is in our minds. And the means to heal all illusions is in our minds. We need only be willing to turn over all our pain and guilt to the Great Healer and accept the healing offered us.

The Path to Enlightenment

Be not afraid today to circumvent the voices of the world. Walk lightly past their meaningless persuasion. Hear them not. Be still today and listen to the truth. Go past all things which do not speak of Him Who holds your happiness within His Hand, held out to you in welcome and in love. Hear only Him today, and do not wait to reach Him longer. Hear one Voice today.

Today the holy Word of God is kept through your receiving it to give away, so you can teach the world what giving means by listening and learning it of Him. Do not forget today to reinforce your choice to hear and to receive the Word by this reminder, given to yourself as often as is possible today:

Let me be still and listen to the truth.
I am the messenger of God today,
My voice is His, to give what I receive. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 106,W-pI.106.3;10. See also ACIM Lesson 106 Insights.)

There is no greater joy than to be a messenger of God. God’s message is always one of Love, peace and joy. To give this message, we must receive it for ourselves. As we accept the truth that God’s Love, peace and joy is ours, always, our gratitude overflows and we automatically share God’s Love, peace and joy.

This is our joyous mission today: To see with the eyes of Love today and join in joy with the Love that is in everyone. This is a direct path to enlightenment. It is the way we remember we are one Self, united wit our Creator. We can receive and give no other gift but this in truth.

How to Bring Peace to Our Mind

You are one Self, united and secure in light and joy and peace. You are God’s Son, one Self, with one Creator and one goal; to bring awareness of this oneness to all minds, that true creation may extend the allness and the unity of God. You are one Self, complete and healed and whole, with power to lift the veil of darkness from the world, and let the light in you come through to teach the world the truth about yourself.

You are one Self, in perfect harmony with all there is, and all that there will be. You are one Self, the holy Son of God, united with your brothers in that Self; united with your Father in His Will. Feel this one Self in you, and let It shine away all your illusions and your doubts. This is your Self, the Son of God Himself, sinless as Its Creator, with His strength within you and His Love forever yours. You are one Self, and it is given you to feel this Self within you, and to cast all your illusions out of the one Mind that is this Self, the holy truth in you.”

To everyone you meet today, be sure to give the promise of today’s idea and tell him this:

You are one Self with me, united with our Creator in this Self.
I honor you because of What I am, and What He is,

The fact that we are one Self, at one with our Creator, is inconceivable to the ego. The world is designed by the ego to make the opposite appear real. Yet the acceptance of the fact that we are all one in Love as God’s holy Son is the release from the world of limitation, guilt and fear.

Practice applying this idea by bring someone to mind and mentally telling them, “You are one Self with me… (as above) …Who loves us both as One.” Be aware of how you feel as you do this. Repeat this with several people, including someone you may consider an adversary. This practice has the potential to bring peace to your mind and to the world. It is limited only by our willingness to accept the truth that we are one Self, united with our Creator.

Receive and Give the Gift Beyond Measure

Today we will not listen to the world, but wait in silence for the Word of God.

Today He speaks to you. His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet for a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. Await His Word in quiet. There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak.

In quiet listen to your Self today, and let Him tell you God has never left His Son, and you have never left your Self.

Only be quiet. You will need no rule but this, to let your practicing today lift you above the thinking of the world, and free your vision from the body’s eyes. Only be still and listen.… As every hour passes by today, be still a moment and remind yourself you have a special purpose for this day; in quiet to receive the Word of God. The Word of God is that we remain as He created us, united as His one Son. Our true Self shares all His attributes. In truth, we are Love and nothing else. We share God’s peace and joy.

When we pause to quiet our minds, we open our minds to the memory of Who we are. We remember our eternal connection with our Creator. The vision of our true Self takes precedence over what the body’s eyes seem to see. The practice of being still and listening to the Word of God leads us directly to the truth of our innocence and to freedom from the ego’s world of guilt and fear. This practice is a gift beyond measure we give ourselves and the world.

Remembering Only Love Is Real Brings Peace

When you try to bring truth to illusions, you are trying to make illusions real, and keep them by justifying your belief in them. But to give illusions to truth is to enable truth to teach that the illusions are unreal, and thus enable you to escape from them.

Be willing, then, to give all you have held outside the truth to Him Who knows the truth, and in Whom all is brought to truth. Salvation from separation would be complete, or will not be at all. Be not concerned with anything except your willingness to have this be accomplished. He will accomplish it; not you. But forget not this: When you become disturbed and lose your peace of mind because another is attempting to solve his problems through fantasy, you are refusing to forgive yourself for just this same attempt. And you are holding both of you away from truth and from salvation. As you forgive him, you restore to truth what was denied by both of you. And you will see forgiveness where you have given it. When our peace is disturbed by anything, it is because we believe what is perceived is true and real. The world we perceive is the effect of our belief that we have succeeded in separating from God and His Love. It is our belief in the fantasy of a world that makes it seem true, though it is nothing but illusion. Through belief we attempt to make illusion real. We have taught ourselves to believe that the impossible is possible.

We need to be taught to unlearn this belief. The Holy Spirit is the Teacher God has given us to bring illusion to truth, to teach us that illusion is nothing and truth is everything. Truth is very simple: It is the oneness of Love and nothing else.

There is no conflict in Love’s oneness, no possibility of loss, no guilt nor fear. In the oneness of Love, there is only joy and peace. As we are willing to bring all our perceptions to the Holy Spirit to receive His healing vision, we experience God’s peace and joy more and more. Appearances in the world are less disturbing as we learn that appearances are never true. Only Love is real.

Falling in Love with Love

Today accept God’s peace and joy as yours. Let Him complete Himself as He defines completion. You will understand that what completes Him must complete His Son as well. He cannot give through loss. No more can you. Receive His gift of joy and peace today, and He will thank you for your gift to Him.

Begin today by thinking of those brothers who have been denied by you the peace and joy that are their right under the equal laws of God. Here you denied [peace and joy] to yourself. And here you must return to claim them as your own.

Think of your “enemies” a little while, and tell each one, as he occurs to you:

My brother, peace and joy I offer you,
That I may have God’s peace and joy as mine.

Thus you prepare yourself to recognize God’s gifts to you, and let your mind be free of all that would prevent success today. Now are you ready to accept the gift of peace and joy that God has given you. Now are you ready to experience the joy and peace you have denied yourself. Now you can say, “God’s peace and joy are mine,” for you have given what you would receive. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 105,W-pI.105.5;6:2-7:6. See also ACIM Lesson 105 Insights.)

Everything we perceive in the world is a form defined by limits. Even our ideas expressed in words are only symbols, still defined by limits. Anything we “give” in this context is limited by form.

This is the opposite of how God defines giving. God is Love and Love is eternal, changeless and without limit. The nature of Love is to extend Love to Love. God’s gift of Love obeys His law of giving. Giving and receiving are the same. By His giving all His Love to His Creation, His Love is automatically returned because that is the law of Love.

In the world of form, it is impossible to recognize giving and receiving are the same. When we give a form away, it seems that we no longer have it. But when we give Love, we experience Love simultaneously. Giving Love is how we experience having Love.

As we let the Holy Spirit help us see past the form of our brothers to the Love He is, the Love we are naturally joins with the Love in our brother. We experience the joy and peace of our oneness with our brother. We fall in Love with the Truth in our brother and it brings joy and peace to our hearts.

This is what forgiveness, letting go of belief in the forms of the world, offers us. Today we would forgive our brother of the images we have made of him that we may join with him in God’s peace and joy.
