Finding What We Really Want

Today we will again give thanks for our Identity in God. Our home is safe, protection guaranteed in all we do, power and strength available to us in all our undertakings. We can fail in nothing. Everything we touch takes on a shining light that blesses and that heals. At one with God and with the universe we go our way rejoicing, with the thought that God Himself goes everywhere with us. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.124.1)

What do we really want? We may believe we want a partner who loves us, the right job, more money or any number of things in the world. But we’ve all had the experience of getting things or circumstances we thought we wanted, only to find they did not satisfy. Perhaps they did briefly, but they did not last. These things in the world are just empty images which are incapable of offering what we really want.

All we really want is the Love that is already given us. We do not recognize the Love we have and are because we are looking for it in forms where it cannot be found. The Love we seek is already in us. We need only look within to find It.

To find what we really want, the only thing that can truly satisfy, we need to follow the Guide That can lead us out of the quagmire of self-deception we have made up.

Holy Spirit, I take your Hand today. Lead me to see past the false images to the eternal Presence of Love. Show me the Love in my brothers so that I may see It in myself. Help me to recognize the meaninglessness of the false images so that I can let them go. Today I would follow in gratitude.

We Remain at Home in Love

Do we want to experience a happy world, where Love is recognized as flowing uninterrupted through all things? Or do we want to experience a world of conflict and loss, guilt and fear, sadness and death? In every moment we choose between these two options.

When we choose to believe we are a separate identity governed by the ego thought system founded on guilt, we choose the second experience. When we choose to let the Holy Spirit guide all our doing, we choose the experience of the happy dream, we choose the experience of Love flowing through us. We experience Love’s blessing and extend It to all that is.

Today we choose to see what Love sees by setting aside our judgments and letting the Holy Spirit be our Guide in all things. With this practice we will be truly helpful in all our doing. We will know that we are safe and strong in Love. We will know that our brothers are also safe and fully supported by Love’s strength, no matter what appearances may be in the dream.

With this practice today we take a giant stride to remembering we remain at Home in Heaven, at Home in Love.

Joining with Holy Spirit’s Vision

Life becomes very simple and filled with contentment and joy as we practice joining with Holy Spirit’s vision each day. The Holy Spirit helps us see past fear thoughts of the ego to what is eternally true about us. As we continue our practice, our lives become less turbulent and we move into a very peaceful, calm state of being.

There is great contentment and joy living in this state of being… We still see the ups and downs in our life experience, but we don’t get caught up in them… We flow through our experiences in a sea of calm…

Joined with Holy Spirit, we see the world as kind… We pass by fear thoughts to the awareness of Love’s Presence… We feel so grateful and fulfilled as we are able to join with others in remembering the truth of everyone’s true Identity… Our happiness and contentment expand day by day as we continue to join with Holy Spirit’s vision.

Recognizing Love’s Gifts Today

Today I choose to pass by the distracting thoughts and images of the world to the center of peace within. This center of peace is the Self that remains at Home in the oneness of Love. From this place of peace, true vision sees only Love everywhere. There is no conflict here; only Love’s gifts are here.

As I am willing to accept these gifts as mine, I see them in everyone and everything. Forms cannot disguise the presence of Love’s gifts. Today I choose to walk in peace, that I may recognize Love’s gifts everywhere throughout the day.

We Are One Light. There Is No Distance Between Us

We are God’s one Son. In reality there are no differences. Differences are only in the ego’s world of separation. We are learning to see past these false ideas and let them go.

As we learn to see past the false ideas of the ego thought system, we open to the truth of everyone’s innocence. We open to the truth that nothing has happened to change God’s one Son. Only in illusions could change be possible.

As we consistently practice listening to our inner Teacher, the Holy Spirit, we learn to see the Light of Love that resides in everyone… We learn to focus on this Light and receive Its blessing. We remember that as we see each brother, we are seeing ourselves… We want to reinforce the truth, rather than illusions… As we focus on the truth, we extend and receive Love… We join in remembering God’s oneness, Love’s oneness… Here we find peace, joy and happiness…

God’s Gift of Heaven Is Ours Now

No one remains in hell, for no one can abandon his Creator, nor affect His perfect, timeless and unchanging Love. You will find Heaven. Everything you seek but this will fall away. Yet not because it has been taken from you. It will go because you do not want it. You will reach the goal you really want as certainly as God created you in sinlessness.

Why wait for Heaven? It is here today. Time is the great illusion [that Heaven] is past or in the future. Yet this cannot be, if [Heaven] is where God wills His Son to be. How could the Will of God be in the past, or yet to happen? What He wills is now, without a past and wholly futureless. (A Course in Miracles, T-pI.131.5:1-6:6)

The ego, the thought system of separation, is a fraud. It offers us a bill of goods that claims to give us pleasure, status, more than everything. If we believe in what it offers, we are buying an empty bill of goods. The package it comes in may be beautifully wrapped in enticing images, but when we open the package, we find there is nothing there. Having believed in it, we feel empty. This emptiness leads us on a search to find that which will bring us the Love we seem to be missing, the peace that is nowhere to be found in the world and lasting happiness that the ego’s bill of goods cannot offer.

Gratefully we are not the ego. And though we have bought the ego’s bill of goods, God’s eternal gift to us remains ours. We are only unaware of God’s gifts because the glittering images of the ego have distracted us. We have Help within our minds to shine a Light on the fraudulent ego images which shows us that in truth, there is nothing there.

When we are willing to open to that Light, we are shown the eternal, changeless gift that lies beyond the empty images and that we have never lost. We do not have to wait to receive God’s Love, peace and joy. They are already ours. We need only allow the Light within to show us the way to remembering we are in Heaven now.

Accepting We Are Spirit

You see the flesh or recognize the spirit. There is no compromise between the two. If one is real the other must be false, for what is real denies its opposite. There is no choice in vision but this one. What you decide in this determines all you see and think is real and hold as true. On this one choice does all your world depend, for here have you established what you are, as flesh or spirit in your own belief. If you choose flesh, you never will escape the body as your own reality, for you have chosen that you want it so. But choose the spirit, and all Heaven bends to touch your eyes and bless your holy sight, that you may see the world of flesh no more except to heal and comfort and to bless. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VI.1)

The truth is that we are all joined as one eternal Spirit of Love… We came from Love, and our one function is to extend the Love we are… We are eternally safe, one with God…

Letting this truth return to our mind brings with it the Light and understanding of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit gently returns us to the truth about ourselves and every brother. The Holy Spirit shines a Light on our insane imaginings of separation. In the Light of truth these shadow thoughts disappear. We return to joy, happiness, peace and feel the eternal presence of Love.

We remember that we never left Heaven, but only dreamed of being separate and alone. We truly are safe in God. We truly have never left God’s perfect Love. We remember that this is true about ourselves and everyone we see in this world. All this comes as we accept we are Spirit. This is our practice for today.
