What could you want forgiveness cannot give? Do you want peace? Forgiveness offers it. Do you want happiness, a quiet mind, a certainty of purpose, and a sense of worth and beauty that transcends the world? Do you want care and safety, and the warmth of sure protection always? Do you want a quietness that cannot be disturbed, a gentleness that never can be hurt, a deep, abiding comfort, and a rest so perfect it can never be upset?
All this forgiveness offers you, and more. It sparkles on your eyes as you awake, and gives you joy with which to meet the day. It soothes your forehead while you sleep, and rests upon your eyelids so you see no dreams of fear and evil, malice and attack. We all already have the means within our mind for complete release from the dream of fear and guilt. The question is, will we choose to use this means to be free? When will we tire of going down allies and detours that never bring us lasting happiness. We all reach a turning point at which we decide to look for a better way than seeking solutions based upon the past.
The Course is teaching us to recognize that the world cannot offer us happiness and peace. None of the forms that seem to appeal to us contain anything but false hopes and transitory dreams. The answer lies with turning to the Guide within Who remembers the truth about what we are.
This is the Holy Spirit, our true Self. As we choose this Guide to lift the veil of false hopes and vein imaginings, the dawn of the Light of Love will come into our minds. Where we saw lack and loss we will see the certainty of God’s ever-present, limitless Love. Where we saw guilt we will see the innocence of Love. Where we saw an adversary, we will see and answer the call for Love as we join with our brothers who are one with us in truth. There is a world forgiveness offers where peace abides, Love is changeless and happiness is beyond what words can describe.
Today we choose the Guide to perfect happiness.
