The Outcome of Forgiveness

The outcome of the lesson that God’s Son is guiltless is a world in which there is no fear, and everything is lit with hope and sparkles with a gentle friendliness. Nothing but calls to you in soft appeal to be your friend, and let it join with you. And never does a call remain unheard, misunderstood, nor left unanswered in the selfsame tongue in which the call was made. And you will understand it was this call [for Love] that everyone and everything within the world has always made, but you had not perceived it as it was. And now you see you were mistaken. You had been deceived by forms the call was hidden in. And so you did not hear it, and had lost a friend who always wanted to be part of you. The soft eternal calling of each part of God’s creation to the whole is heard throughout the world this [lesson of forgiveness] brings. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.I.8. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

As we continue to practice seeing past appearances to the Love that is really there, we are able to see all forms of lack of Love as merely a call for Love. We are all calling for Love. We are all calling to return to the truth of Love’s oneness. Our Father answers through the Holy Spirit in our minds.

As we receive the miracle of forgiveness through the Holy Spirit, we are able to see beyond appearances to the call for Love. We are able to extend Love in all circumstances instead of falling back into making appearances seem real. As we give Love instead of judgment with the Holy Spirit’s help, we experience Love. This is the outcome forgiveness brings.
