Excerpts from Course 903: Gratitude for God’s Gifts

Pathways of Light

image When you are full of gratitude, you are appreciative, open and give your full attention to what you are grateful for. Your system of values gives it great importance in your mind.

The dictionary defines gratitude as an appreciative awareness and thankfulness. Gratitude encompasses acceptance, appreciation and love. What you value highly is agreeable and satisfying to you.

The opposite of gratitude is rejection… not valuing… a turning away from… excluding… not accepting or opposing. What we don’t value, appreciate and accept, we turn away from… We avoid it and take our attention away from it. We reject it from our awareness.

Listening

by Rev. Mary Gerard Lenihan

image I was in the midst of taking the Pathways of Light Relationship Enhancement Counseling Training when I realized that I had not been truly listening to others. For me, this course turned out to be much more than it appeared. Maybe I was ready to receive what this course had to give.

What else is there, but to listen? To listen to the word of God, Who is my very Self and to listen to God’s word in another. Dare I speak to a brother without having heard from him first? What shall I say if I have not first heard? And what is it that I am to hear? Why it is the Voice for God speaking through my brother.

If God Is Your Goal

by Gary Renard

image  “What would you do if you were sitting quietly in your living room when a mysterious couple appeared from nowhere — and then told you they were ‘ascended masters’ who had come to reveal some shocking secrets of existence and teach you the miraculous powers of advanced forgiveness?” (From ‘The Disappearance of the Universe’)

So Good to Have Him Back

by Rev. Larry Glenz

image  It’s 3:25 am. This is the first night that I didn’t take a Zanax since my 27 year old son, Kevin, died ten days ago. I never took Zanax before he died. They’re unbelievable, these little pills. I slept 8 straight hours each night without waking or even remembering any dreams the next morning. I didn’t take one tonight. I’ve got one on my dresser right now but I’ve decided to stay up. Kevin is talking to me.

The One About My World

by Rev. Stephan Mead

image  In the world of form, I am a general contractor. These past few years, business has been very good. In fact, until this fall I can’t remember a single day when I didn’t have work for my company. I had plenty of money and was able to spend it without concern for the future. A couple of months ago business seemed to have just dried up and my efforts to secure new projects were failing.

Seeing Past the Leaves

by Rev. Vicki Rostant

image  I was recently sitting in a bus heading downtown. Part of the route was alongside a large park just outside of the city. I always make sure I sit on the side of the bus that looks onto the park, so I can enjoy looking at the trees. On this day, the weather was cold and dreary, but the sky was clear. I had spent some time that morning studying and reflecting on material from Joel Wright’s new book, The Mirror On Still Water, as I had been for several days.

I Am You, You Are Me, We Are One

by Rev. Sue A. Hannon

Dear Beloved Brothers and Sisters in Christ — This means all who are reading this, even those who aren’t (as funny as that sounds) because we are all equal members of the One Family of God! I know that my purpose in this “dream world of illusions” is to remember in each and every moment Who my Heavenly Father/Mother really Is on earth as in Heaven — God the Father; God the Mother; God of all Creation; God of Love, Gentleness, Mercy, Joy, Peace, Innocence, God of all that is Eternal!

The Prodigal Son Returns?

by Rev. Jay Seppanen

image  I’ve been dallying in new areas of opportunity in this heartfelt desire to be of service. After ordination I was looking forward to helping others in need of listening, compassion, and help in making them aware of the small, still voice of Wisdom that is within. To date, I haven’t really had much of a calling from others to do that and I couldn’t figure out why! “Holy Spirit, what’s the deal? You know how much I want to do this work, so what’s the hang-up?”

Beato

by Rev. Elizabeth Griffin

image  Italians have an inexhaustible ability to forgive and let it go. If you do it right, it’s blessed and godly. If you do it wrong, it’s just for lack of applying yourself and you let it slide.

Chickadees

by Rev. Elizabeth Griffin

image The operation to remove the tumor did not go well. The pleasantly plump anesthesiologist with an equally pleasant voice asked me to think of something nice before I went under. That of course made me think of the boys and I awoke from the anesthesia coughing and vomiting on my need to hold my children in my arms again. Plus, they found more cancer. My sentinel gland was completely saturated with cancer as was the capillary leading from the tumor to my lymph node area along the top half of my right breast. It wasn’t clear how much the cancer had spread. I stayed in the hospital for an additional four days for further observation, and before I went home, I was told I would have to come back for a second operation in two weeks. The possibility of a single or double mastectomy was on the horizon if they couldn’t cut out all the cancer during the second operation. My sons were 5 and 6 ½. I was beyond shock. There was no propensity for breast cancer in my family.  I finished breast feeding not even 4 years ago; I was healthy; I felt absolutely fine; this couldn’t be.

Fear, Pain and a Wondrous Heart!

by Rev. Bob Thompson

image  As I look back on my life, and all the changes in occupations, residences, relationships, and many varied experiences, it truly seems that perhaps in some very real way, I have already lived several lifetimes.

As a grade school and high school student, I lived with fear, because my two brothers and I were repeatedly, physically, and emotionally bullied by other students. We never thought of ourselves as fighters. For us it was flight, not fight, and so we three became very accomplished runners while still quite young.

Into This Peace I Stumble

by Barret Hedeen

Into this peace
I stumble and fall
Awkward and clumsy
— not sure at all.

I gaze at the light.
It hurts my eyes
And so I settle for
emptiness, lies

Letting Go of Judgment

by Rev. Sharyn Zenz

image One morning while talking to my sister on the telephone, I felt like she was making some judgments as she spoke. Then after thinking about it I really came to realize that anytime I think someone is judging, it is me who is judging them! It would be impossible for me to see them as judging, unless I was making a judgment that they were judging.

Peaceful Solitude

by Rev. Michael Gardner

imageOneness…

At peace with the knowledge
that I already am
No need for desire for more
than I am
Nor for an other to show me
the abundance of life
Or to strive for a value
I already have
And can never
in all of eternity lose
In solitude I know
that the truth
is still true
