Saying Yes to Spirit

by Rev. Larry Glenz, O.M.C.

Rev. Larry GlenzWhen turning to my Higher Power, I received a clear message — “Attraction rather than promotion.”

Almost four years ago I self-published my book Forgiving Kevin, a memoir of my son’s seven-year struggle with heroin. I started writing the book when Kevin was in his last and longest period of recovery. It was intended to be a true story about the All-American boy who fell into the depths of opiate addiction and recovered to help others overcome the disease of addiction. Kevin was in his ninth month of recovery when I started writing.

Then Kevin relapsed and succumbed to a fatal overdose. So many who knew our family could not imagine how such a fate could befall a young man with such promise and potential.

Nothing Is Happening but Love in the Present Moment

by Rev. Linda Wisniewski, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda WisniewskiI had an experience recently that showed me in a very concrete way that when I am in the present moment, in the Now and what the Course refers to as the Holy Instant, nothing is happening but Love and I am in a state of beingness, the essence of who I Am. It is very peaceful and joyful.

So, if I’m not peaceful, what is the problem? Is something or someone out there disturbing my peace of mind? Is it the hot, humid weather we get in the Midwest taking away my peace and my ability to have a good day? Does an argument with a loved one ruin my day? God’s Will for us is happiness. Is anyone out there responsible for me being happy, peaceful and content? Can anything in my life ruin my decision to be happy and have a good day?

Received in Love

by Rev. Michelle Rado, O.M.C.

Rev. Michelle RadoOnce upon a time, I trusted
that I was cared for.

As I came to a street corner,
My father’s hand would just appear
in front of me. Mine in his,
We walked across the street,
Navigating any obstacles
that came our way.

I didn’t question his lead.

Where to Begin?

by Rev. Myron Jones, O.M.C.

Rev. Myron JonesWhen students new to the Course come to me, they inevitably ask where to start. Back in the old days, when I thought I knew something, (not really that long ago, truth be told) I would tell them. What I told them, of course, was what I was guided to do, and what has my guidance to do with them? We each have the Holy Spirit within us to be our Guide and no one needs someone else to do that. We each have a specific path to follow and only the Holy Spirit knows what that is.

My Life’s Purpose

by Rev. Barbara Goodman Siegel, O.M.C.

Rev. Barbara Goodman SiegelA few days ago, my husband and I went to a local Waffle House restaurant. We discovered this little gem by accident and probably only went in because our daughter said how much her family enjoys going to Waffle House. Up until this latest encounter, we thought of it as an old, dirty, little truck stop.

On entering the restaurant, all the employees shouted out: “Good morning!” Wow! At what other restaurant do you walk in and get that kind of greeting? We sat in a booth and a sweet, young woman named Skye immediately came over to wait on us. The whole time we were there, Skye never lost the beautiful smile that had found her face.

Miracles 101

by Rev. Andrea Sassa Archuleta, O.M.C.

Rev. Andrea Sassa Archuleta“There is no order of difficulty in miracles. One is not “harder” or “bigger” than another. They are all the same. All expressions of love are maximal.”

“Miracles are natural. When they do not occur, something has gone wrong.” (T-1.I.1:1-3)

“Miracles are everyone’s right.” (T-1.I.7:1)

Well, What Exactly Is a Miracle?

I am asked this a lot when people know that I work with the text, A Course in Miracles. Some ask if the Course will teach them how to walk on water, or turn water into wine, maybe even part the sea. Now wouldn’t that be cool!

Helpting Each Other Home

by Maura Williams

Maura WilliamsIt’s never about what you’re doing. It’s never about your behavior. It’s always about your thoughts and sometimes it’s about what you’re not doing by doing whatever it is you are doing.

You can take just about any “bad” habit and apply this to it.

I often interrupt people when they talk. I think I know what they’re going to say and I’m afraid I’ll forget what I want to say, so I interrupt them and blurt out my comment.

Let’s look not a what I did that was so rude, but at what I didn’t do: I didn’t let them finish. I don’t know what they were going to say and now I probably won’t get to hear it, because I’ve hurt their feelings. But there’s more. In not letting them finish, I didn’t allow the Holy Spirit room to reply through me. My ego thought its agenda was more important and rushed in to “help” me. I don’t need this kind of help. It is not loving, it is not kind and it is not caring. It’s selfish, rude and unnecessary.

Dream Big

by Rev. Kurt Koch, O.M.C.

Rev. Kurt KochHi, my name is Kurt Koch (aka Kurtis Myson) and I was recently ordained as a Pathways of Light Ministerial Counselor. I am also a musician and I have been writing songs as I have been working my way through the Pathways of Light Ministerial Training.

Music is the language of Spirit. Speaking just from my own experiences, spiritual music opens up my soul. As I began to work on these courses, I started to notice how events in my life would bring forth the lesson to be learned in the particular course I was taking.

The One About Prayer

by Rev. Stephan Mead, O.M.C.

Rev. Stephan MeadHas anyone in any spiritual path been advised not to pray? Prayer seems to be one of the first solutions offered to every articulated problem, real or imagined. In A Course in Miracles we are reminded of this about prayer: “The Bible emphasizes that all prayer is answered, and this is indeed true.” (T-9.II.3.1)

Believing the course was written to help us wake up to Reality, this business of prayer might be pretty important, especially to those of us with problems. Also in Text, Chapter 9, “Everyone who has ever tried to use prayer to ask for something has experienced what appears to be failure.” (T-9.II.I.1) Everyone! That includes me too. If my mind wasn’t already split, trying to make sense of these two passages would have done it! I am to rely on the truth that, “all prayer is answered,” AND my experience shows me that what I “pray” for, I pretty much fail to get? Haven’t I just increased my problems?

Trust Walk with Holy Spirit

by Rev. Trish Kearns, O.M.C.

Rev. Trish KearnsTwo months ago I purchased a condo on the beach in Ormond Beach, Florida. It was a vacation rental and it seemed perfect for me to make use of various times throughout the year to vacation as well as to visit Pathways of Light. Holy Spirit pretty much “dropped” this condo onto my lap. All I did was make the decision that I am ready to follow His Will and not my own. Within one week of having my offer on the condo accepted, a woman offered me $20,000 above market value for my current residence which was not even on the market. So I took a few days to work with Holy Spirit and see if this was His Will for me. Somehow I signed the papers to sell my home.

Letter from a Prisoner

by Rev. Joseph Wolfe, O.M.C.

Rev. Joseph WolfeThe following is a letter from a prisoner I received just this past July (2015). Like many other letters received over the years, this one expresses the deep level of gratitude that pours out from behind prison walls.

To Joe Wolfe, Spirit Light Outreach; PO Box 443, Enola PA 17025-0443

A few weeks ago I received a copy of (your book) Letter To A Prisoner. I spent several days reading and re-reading it and am presently in the process of reading it for a third time, using a high-lighter to mark those passages that jump out at me. Last week I started exercises (365 daily lessons from the Workbook in A Course in Miracles) and I am committed to sticking with it.

Celebrating a Journey

by Rev. Georgeanne Medved

Rev. Georgeanne MedvedI have not had much to say or write lately. Our Mother made her transition in June and I was so very happy for her, but also sad for myself and our family. Mother did not want to be on this plane anymore and refused all medications and help. She told each of us that she loved us and goodbye.

She was 93 and her organs simply shut down. Imagine the prayers we all said imploring God to take her in His arms the last ten days of her life. She wanted to be with God and we let go and let Him decide the day and time.

Awakening Through My Special Relationships — Part 5: My Frenchman

by Rev. Linda LaCasse, O.M.C.

Rev. Linda LaCasseThis article is Part 5 in a series of articles of Holy Spirit’s use of my special relationships for the purpose of healing. It picks up where I left off in Part 4 with the miracles I experienced prior to traveling to Europe to visit my daughter, Danielle and alluding to more miracles while there which led to my living a miraculous life today.

I arrived in Paris a week before Christmas, 2011. I could not have been happier! Not only was I about to be united with my daughter who reflects my love and joy but I was in one of my favorite places, the city of lights and love. From the instant I saw my daughter jumping up and down trying to catch my eye on the other side of the window in the airport upon my arrival to the time she left me once I’d boarded the train from Strasbourgh back to Paris two weeks later to catch my flight, it was non-stop abundance of love, peace, joy and one-mindedness!

Why

by Rev. Michael Graves, O.M.C.

Rev. Michael GravesIn a world where hate and fear abound…

Why are we afraid to show our love?

Why do we walk right by a suffering soul and harden our hearts?

Why do we avoid our brother’s glance and withhold a loving smile?

Why do we think lovingly of the others in our lives only to withhold its expression?
