Chickadees

by Rev. Elizabeth Griffin

image The operation to remove the tumor did not go well. The pleasantly plump anesthesiologist with an equally pleasant voice asked me to think of something nice before I went under. That of course made me think of the boys and I awoke from the anesthesia coughing and vomiting on my need to hold my children in my arms again. Plus, they found more cancer. My sentinel gland was completely saturated with cancer as was the capillary leading from the tumor to my lymph node area along the top half of my right breast. It wasn’t clear how much the cancer had spread. I stayed in the hospital for an additional four days for further observation, and before I went home, I was told I would have to come back for a second operation in two weeks. The possibility of a single or double mastectomy was on the horizon if they couldn’t cut out all the cancer during the second operation. My sons were 5 and 6 ½. I was beyond shock. There was no propensity for breast cancer in my family.  I finished breast feeding not even 4 years ago; I was healthy; I felt absolutely fine; this couldn’t be.

Fear, Pain and a Wondrous Heart!

by Rev. Bob Thompson

image  As I look back on my life, and all the changes in occupations, residences, relationships, and many varied experiences, it truly seems that perhaps in some very real way, I have already lived several lifetimes.

As a grade school and high school student, I lived with fear, because my two brothers and I were repeatedly, physically, and emotionally bullied by other students. We never thought of ourselves as fighters. For us it was flight, not fight, and so we three became very accomplished runners while still quite young.

Into This Peace I Stumble

by Barret Hedeen

Into this peace
I stumble and fall
Awkward and clumsy
— not sure at all.

I gaze at the light.
It hurts my eyes
And so I settle for
emptiness, lies

Letting Go of Judgment

by Rev. Sharyn Zenz

image One morning while talking to my sister on the telephone, I felt like she was making some judgments as she spoke. Then after thinking about it I really came to realize that anytime I think someone is judging, it is me who is judging them! It would be impossible for me to see them as judging, unless I was making a judgment that they were judging.

Peaceful Solitude

by Rev. Michael Gardner

imageOneness…

At peace with the knowledge
that I already am
No need for desire for more
than I am
Nor for an other to show me
the abundance of life
Or to strive for a value
I already have
And can never
in all of eternity lose
In solitude I know
that the truth
is still true

The Power of a Forgiving Smile

Rev. Annie Arbona

image The truth is that gifts of Love can take on many different forms and sometimes appear in the most unexpected places.

A couple of weeks ago, when Christmas shopping seemed to be at a peak, I took a trip to Walmart hoping to find some needed articles at a good price.

As I approached the women’s clothing area, I heard some children crying loudly and a swishing sound that I identified as that of a belt hitting against something or someone. Immediately, I had a mental SOS and felt compelled to move with my cart in their direction. As I got closer, I saw a woman beating some kids with a long thin belt that she had doubled over.

Healing of Beliefs

by Rev. Mary Manke

image These are some thoughts that I recently received from Spirit.

You are allowing the Holy Spirit’s thoughts into your awareness, allowing the healing of beliefs that hide the truth of your sinlessness. You often find the mind in the darkness of despair. This need not be. The beliefs that hold the darkness are healed in your willingness. In your asking Holy Spirit to take what you do not want in exchange for His sight or correction, that is willingness.

Letting Peace Lead the Way

by Revs. Robert & Mary Stoelting

image As we begin 2010, we are in the process of moving to Sanford, Florida, which is about 35 miles north of Orlando. We are moving to a small house in Sanford because it is nearby to a place that we think will become the future location of Pathways of Light. Because this new facility we found is unfinished, we will need to live nearby while we work on its completion.

Love Is Our Only Way Out of Fear

by Rev. Nancy Miiller

image For a few weeks I had been feeling down, low, and just not myself. My self-esteem was being hit in a hard way.

From outside appearances no one would have known. Also, by outside appearances, people would have been surprised based on me having a good job, a good salary, a wonderful home and significant other, and having my own business.

Morning Prayer

by Rev. Georgeann Medved

image Each morning I summon Holy Spirit to search my soul to see if there is anything but love within me. I implore Him to replace all that is not joyful in my heart with the goodness in His. I pray for Him to plant the fruit of His Spirit in me and make it mature and to help me stay near to Him so that I will only bear good fruit. I invite Him to completely fill me with His gentleness so that it will flow out of me into the lives of all around me.

Excerpts from Course 904: Putting God First

Course 904 teleconference is being offered by Rev. Annie Arbona

imageWhat does it mean to put God first? God is Universal Love. In God all is one Mind, with no differentiation. The ego is the idea of separation from oneness. Putting God first is the same as putting oneness first — recognizing that we are one with our brother in Universal Love, or God. It means being willing to see past all the forms of separate identities to the common ground of Universal Love that resides everywhere. It is seeing the truth about All That Is and that there is nothing else.

The One About My Hospitality

by Rev. Stephan Mead

image I’ve only told this story a couple of times. Apparently, my mind is still providing a safe haven for some guilt and shame. Isn’t free will great!

A couple of weeks ago, I was attending a weekend conference of almost 1,000 people who, along with me, belong to a fellowship whose main purpose is basically to help others with a common affliction to lead a happy and peaceful life based on spiritual principles. Besides larger assemblies that are held several times a year, it is quite common for much smaller groups of us to meet a couple of times a week. One of the highpoints of the conference is reconnecting with friends and loved ones that I haven’t been in touch with for awhile.

The Ego in Disguise

by Rev. Larry Glenz

image  Does the ego sometimes disguise itself as Holy Spirit? For seven years my son Kevin has been battling an insidious addiction to opiates such as oxycontin and heroin. Trying to “fix” Kevin by forcing him into inpatient and outpatient rehabs has never had the desired effect. Society teaches that our role as parents requires us to protect our children. What kind of parent sits back and watches his son destroy his life without making every effort possible to save him? But whose hand am I holding when I make all these desperate attempts to force him back into a program of recovery – the ego’s or the Holy Spirit’s?

Letting Go of Our Addictions!

by Rev. Sharyn Zenz

image As I lay awake unable to go to sleep, I decided to ask Spirit for an article for Miracles News and this is what I received:

All of the addictions of this world are nothing more than our thoughts about the addictions. Whether it is thoughts of alcohol, drugs, shopping, gambling, eating, or playing the same tapes over and over and over again in our minds, these are nothing but thoughts that we choose to join with (the ego’s thoughts) to create our life situations!
