Inward Journeys with Jesus --by Rev. Bob Slawson

The following are my interactions with Jesus after I was willing to become quiet and allow my mind to rest in the peace of God. The messages I received during these times have been very helpful to me. I encourage you to join me in this simple process of going to that quiet place within and being open to receive insight from Inner Wisdom. I simply ask what is in my mind to ask and then open my mind and quietly listen. I then type what I receive on my laptop computer.

My question: "What lesson am I to have today?"

Answer: "Today we will discuss listening. You think you listen with your ears. You do not. What you hear with your ears is not real. You pay great attention to what you hear with your ears. You also pay great attention to what you hear through your mind. But most of the time you are unaware that you are hearing a thing. That is your problem. You must be vigilant about your thoughts. It is your thoughts that are speaking to you. And you are listening to your thoughts. There are two thought systems that speak to you. It may seem to you that there are many voices that speak. Be that as it may, there are only two thought systems. There is the system that you made up that we call the ego system and there is God's. We may call this Voice the Holy Spirit, Jesus or the Voice for God.

"Anytime you think you hear with your ears, you begin the perceiving process. You take what you think you heard through your ears and filter it through either one of these two thought systems. You make the decision which system to use, or listen to. You are rarely aware that you are doing this. That is what must change. When I say you must be vigilant, this is what I mean. If you are not conscious of this process, you are listening to the ego. Until you form a strong habit of deliberately listening to me, asking for my help, you will need to be alert.

"Do not worry about this. It will take time, but that is what this world is for. You will not always listen to me, or when you do, you will not always do what I advise. That is not a reason to feel guilty. There is never a reason to feel guilty. The ego thought system has taught you to feel guilty at the smallest mistake or error. The Voice for God tells you that you are perfect now and always have been because you were created by God, in the likeness of God, and can never change. If you believe you have sinned, then you believe you deserve to be punished. This is exactly what the ego thought system wants you to believe. This is a lie. The Son of God cannot sin. In reality the Son of God is still perfect, just exactly like his Father.

"The thoughts you have are made by you, and because they are, you have complete control over them. That is what is meant by free will. You can choose to be in fear or in peace. You can choose to have pain or joy. It is all up to you. In the long term, however, God's Will will prevail. You will see the light and listen to the Voice for God and realize what you really are. Until then, practice awareness and ask for my help."

My concern: "I seem to be at peace today. But I struggle with staying in the present."

Answer: "I know you do. It does take discipline, which has not been your strongest point, but you are doing a good job. It is difficult for you to accept experientially that you or anyone is not their body, and that you all are one. You have been trained well to believe what the eyes of your body tell you. You still are not convinced that your eyes tell you what your mind has already decided. Stop trying to reason everything for yourself. If you could do it yourself, would God have given Me to you? When you don't know, ask Me. When you have doubt, ask Me. When you think you know, ask Me. When you are positive you know, ask Me."

My concern: "I see myself in a forest. The trees are so dense that I can not see the sky. I can hear the sounds of the forest, birds singing and many other sounds I cannot identify. It is quite dark and scary. I am not at peace. I don't want to be here. Birds singing are fine but the other sounds are strange and somewhat frightening. I quiet my mind and ask for help. A Light appears and beckons me to follow It. I do and It leads me to a clearing where I can see the sky and wisps of clouds and the bright warm sun. The Light takes the form of Jesus, who speaks to me..."

Answer: "My child, my brother, why do you get lost in the forest of darkness? Why do you return so often to the frightening places where there is no peace or Love? You go to dark forests and caves, dungeons and other places of fear, hopelessness, desperation and darkness. Why do you choose to live like this? Yes, this is your choice. You do not have to spend your time like this. You could instead choose Light. You could choose to see the world in a different way. You could see Love all around you. You don't have to be alone in a dark forest. You could instead choose to be with your brothers, surrounded by Love. This is what your Father wills for you and this is what I want for you.

"Please join with me and help me bring all our brothers into the Light. I need your help. Come with me on this journey of peace and Love. I have waited for you so long. My patience is unlimited, but I would be grateful if you would join me now. I offer you joy, peace and Love beyond what you can imagine.

"I can see that you are fearful. You believe you will have to give up something in order to join me. You fear that the so-called pleasures of the body will be denied you. I take nothing from you. What you think you want I will never deny you. You will learn on this journey what is valueless and what is valuable. Only you can make that decision. And you will choose. Why not choose now?

"The journey begins and ends in your mind. All you have to do is think with the Will of God. This is not difficult. All you need do is let go of thoughts that are not of Love. Think Love, speak Love, hear Love, feel Love, be Love. This is what we really are. Give up your life of darkness. Come join me in the Light. I need your help. I need your Love. You are my salvation as I am yours."

The One Marriage --by Rev. Christine Anderson

Recently I facilitated two weddings in one day. Many truths came to mind in my experience of preparing for the big day. Every time we are willing to connect with another to be truly helpful, we are reaffirming the one marriage that has always been between us all and will always be -- the marriage of the Father and the Son, which will always be intact, whole and complete.

I may perform a ceremony for two people who have the greatest intention in the world. Their choice of focus, whether it is the ego or the Holy Spirit, will determine the essence of the marriage. If the marriage has no foundation in Spirit, the marriage can be likened to a ship on the ocean. When the weather is calm and sunny, the ship glides smoothly through the untroubled waters. If the ship comes upon stormy seas, it may become a rough ride.

It may be said that the minister, by performing the ceremony, launches the ship. The couple must keep the vessel of their marriage sea worthy with daily maintenance, with continually and consistently opening to love, and sharing that love with each other on a daily basis. Love will keep the friendship strong and growing, and will be the ever present healing balm for any 'leaks in the seams' of the boat. With daily applications of kindness and respect, the ship will ever stay on course heading toward the Light.

Whenever two come together with the willingness to be truly helpful, with the willingness to be that vehicle for Spirit and the awakening, the eternal marriage presents itself and contains everything that is needed for the moment -- unlimited love, patience, insight, and receptiveness to Spirit's Voice. This is the honeymoon that never ends. Unlimited power, gentleness and strength are found in this marriage. In truth, remembering oneness, we are all partaking of one big huge marriage. We are all ships on the sea of oneness. Our friendships are the vehicle for Spirit's wonderful awakening work. Even friendships that seem challenged by ego ploys are meeting places for the marriage to take place.

Relationships are the perfect place to experience the healing work of Spirit's Love. There is no limit to the healing that can take place when there is a willingness to open to Love and see the challenges as learning opportunities and places to apply Love.

Give me, Oh Lord, an understanding heart
...To understand myself and others
...To see through the eyes of love
...Through the eyes of my heart.

Give me, Oh Lord, a listening heart
...May I be still and listen
for the heartbeat of the universe
...and know that all of our hearts
beat as one ...one life, one love,
one common bond ...intertwined
...sharing a most beautiful tapestry
of many colors and textures.

Give me, Oh Lord, an aware heart
...Aware of our sameness
... our shared passion to return
home ...to the heart.

Give me, Oh Lord, a courageous heart
that opens with a willingness
...that is stronger than the
false voice of doubt.

Give me, Oh Lord, opportunities
to share my loving heart.

Safety Lies Within --by Rev. Marcia Tribolini

There is a place of complete safety within each of us. From that place there is softness, gentleness, and a complete knowing of the Truth of what we are.

It is so easy to walk through the world and become attached to form. Our ego thought system tells us over and over, "This will surely bring salvation." So we cling to the relationship, the money, the drug, the sex, the job, the house... always fervently hoping that this time, we will surely find that sense of happiness and peace we so desperately long for.

And once again, we crash and burn. Picking up the pieces is very painful. And ego, whom we worshipped and clung to and thought was our friend, is secretly triumphant, inwardly elated as once more we are kept from Heaven. Our tolerance for pain is high, but not without its limits. Thank God. At some point, we will all choose again. We will relax into our True Self, and remember we are at Home, safe in God's Arms.

Will we forget again? You betcha. Will it be painful? Probably. And, we can relax into that also. This seems to be the journey. The ego tricks us again -- momentarily. We seek salvation outside ourselves. We face the pain and disappointment that must follow. We choose again.

And there stands Spirit -- gently reminding us of the Truth, pointing the way Home, bringing us back into our true Self. Salvation lies within. Therein lies the peace, and love and joy that is the wellspring of our true Being. Thank you God, for the forgetting and the remembering, for they seem to weave together in a way that always brings me one step closer to the Home I never left, where the truth of Oneness abides in perfect peace forever.

Baggage Claim --by Yolanda White

I reentered the world, last Wednesday night... tired but anxious... to get on with this inner child flight. I stepped out on the concrete, just like before, and turned around and looked behind me at the closing door. Yet I moved forward -- I had baggage to claim. Baggage that held inside of it the same old games. Baggage that had been mine since 1974. Baggage that I knew I didn't need anymore. Baggage that was dented, scratched and tattered so. Baggage so damaged, it was unrecognizable.

So as I stood on that concrete... of that baggage claim, I saw those old bags, but they no longer bore my name. I checked and checked and waited and stood. In fact I waited just as long as I could. I examined all the bags that went round and round. A bag of fear, rustic and old, a bag of controlling behavior covered with mold. A bag of jealousy and one of lies, none were the ones that I wanted to take for a ride.

So I studied that baggage, none with my name and bid them farewell to whence they came. I pray that these bags get lost at sea, at the bottom, way below is where they should be.

And if those bags should find me again, or even if one should find you my friend, be quiet and still, whatever the space. Stare at that baggage square in its face. And say to it this: "Thank you, dear baggage, you have not served me in vain, for as the person I was with you, I had nothing to gain. You were heavy and awkward and out of style too, but the job you did was the job you knew how to do. Now that you have come back into my life, I am much wiser now. Too wise to claim you, in fact I don't even know how. So good-bye baggage, once and for all." And then I'll release those bags and the garbage men I'll call.
