Letting Christ’s Vision Show Us Innocence

Behold the great projection, but look on it with the decision that it must be healed, and not with fear. Nothing you made has any power over you unless you still would be apart from your Creator, and with a will opposed to His. For only if you would believe His Son could be His enemy does it seem possible that what you made is [your enemy]. You would condemn God’s joy to misery, and make Him different. And all the misery you made has been your own. Are you not glad to learn it is not true? Is it not welcome news to hear not one of the illusions that you made replaced the truth?

All you need do to dwell in quiet here with Christ is share His vision. Quickly and gladly is His vision given anyone who is but willing to see his brother sinless. And no one can remain beyond this willingness, if you would be released entirely from all effects of sin. Would you have partial forgiveness for yourself? Can you reach Heaven while a single sin still tempts you to remain in misery? Heaven is the home of perfect purity, and God created it for you. Look on your holy brother, sinless as yourself, and let him lead you there. (A Course in Miracles, T-22.II.10,13. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

All power comes from our unity with God. We, God’s Son, are His extension, which can never be separate from Him. To know God’s power, we must accept It as our own without reservation. That means we must accept the unity of Love, which excludes no one.

The ego thought of separation is the rejection of our unity with God and therefore the rejection of God’s power. Consequently the ego has no power of its own. The only power the ego seems to have is the power we give it by our belief that separation is real. It is this misdirected belief that must be healed.

Forgiveness is the means for this healing. As we learn to open our hearts and minds to the vision of Christ, we see past the false images made by the belief in separation. Christ’s vision shows us the innocence in our brothers. As we recognize their innocence, we recognize our own.

Today we quietly welcome Christ’s vision that we may see every brother as the savior he is. Seen truly, every brother will show us that only Love is real. The shadows of the ego fade away in the brilliance of the Light of Love.

The Benefits of Accepting God’s Peace

Now do your eyes belong to Christ, and He looks through them. Now your voice belongs to God and echoes His. And now your heart remains at peace forever. You have chosen Him in place of idols, and your attributes, given by your Creator, are restored to you at last. The Call for God is heard and answered. Now has fear made way for love, as God Himself replaces cruelty.

Father, we are like You. No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. Your peace is ours. And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. And we give thanks for them who render us complete. In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. And we give thanks. Amen. (. See also ACIM Lesson 170 Insights.W-pI.170.12-13. As we consistently practice opening our hearts and minds to God’s peace, we find that our eyes do belong to Christ. We find that we are able to see the innocence behind the ego’s images of separation from Love. We clearly see the value in dwelling in Love’s oneness, Love’s peace. We are able to see past the ego’s false perceptions to the constant state of Love that we are in eternally.

We give thanks that we have the means to remember the truth. We give thanks that nothing has changed God’s one Son. We give thanks that we all are still as God created us. We are safe. We are innocent. We are loved. We are Home.

The Way Home to Love

The Holy Spirit does not teach you to judge others, because He does not want you to teach error and learn it yourself. He would hardly be consistent if He allowed you to strengthen what you must learn to avoid. In the mind of the thinker, then, He is judgmental, but only in order to unify the mind so it can perceive without judgment. This enables the mind to teach without judgment, and therefore to learn to be without judgment. The undoing is necessary only in your mind, so that you will not project, instead of extend [Love]. God Himself has established what you can extend with perfect safety. Therefore, the Holy Spirit’s third lesson is:

Be vigilant only for God and His Kingdom.

Choosing through the Holy Spirit will lead you to the Kingdom. You create by your true being, but what you are you must learn to remember. …If you allow yourself to have in your mind only what God put there, you are acknowledging your mind as God created it. Therefore, you are accepting [your mind] as it is. Since [your mind] is whole, you are teaching peace because you believe in [peace]. (A Course in Miracles, T-6.V.C.2;5:1–2,4-6. The ego’s judgments are always based on the false belief in separation. Therefore all its judgments are wrong. That is why we need to let the Holy Spirit judge everything on our behalf.

The Holy Spirit’s judgment is very simple — it’s either true or false, real or unreal. As we let the Holy Spirit judge on our behalf, we will learn to sort the false from the true. We will learn to see past the false appearances of the ego’s world to the Light of Love that is everywhere. We will learn the truth of what Love created us to be.

Whenever we are feeling less than peaceful and joyful, we are accepting the ego’s judgment. As we practice turning over these thoughts with willingness to let the Holy Spirit sort the truth from the false for us, we become more and more aware of the Self we are. The seemingly endless stream of conflict and chaos is replaced by increasing happiness and peace of mind. It is worth the vigilance of bringing all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit for His purification to filter out the false from the true. It is the way Home.

Clearing the Way to True Happiness

Now we would see and hear and learn. “What is salvation, Father?” Ask and you will be answered. Seek and you will find. We are no longer asking the ego what salvation is and where to find it. We are asking it of truth. Be certain, then, that the answer will be true because of Whom you ask.

Whenever you feel your confidence wane and your hope of success flicker and go out, repeat your question and your request, remembering that you are asking of the infinite Creator of infinity, Who created you like Himself:

What is salvation, Father? I do not know.
Tell me, that I may understand.

He will answer. Be determined to hear. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 72, W-pI.72.11-12. See also ACIM Lesson 72 Insights.)

When we look for situations, relationships or any form in the world to make us happy or to feel valued, we are seeking salvation from the ego, where it cannot be found. The Course tells us that since God is Love, He is also happiness.

Choosing the ego as our guide to happiness is actually choosing against happiness. The ego does not know what true happiness is and will always lead us on fruitless chases for a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Sooner or later we all come to a point of realizing there must be a better way.

To ask the Source of happiness to learn what happiness is, is to ask where the answer is. The core of His answer will always be Love. While we believe we are in the world, His answer will always be in a form that we can understand. It is always some form of forgiveness. Forgiveness draws aside the veil of guilt and fear so that we can see the Light of Love that is ever present.

We have long been accustomed to seeking where happiness cannot be found. It is time to build a new habit of turning to our Source for the answers that clear the way to true happiness. Today is a good day to start.

Remembering Our One Self

Serenity and perfect peace are mine, because I am one Self, completely whole, at one with all creation and with God.

From my one Self, Whose knowledge still remains within my mind, I see God’s perfect plan for my salvation perfectly fulfilled. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 113, W-pI.113.1:2;2:2. See also ACIM Lesson 113 Insights.)

Our one Self constantly calls to us to remember Who we are. We are called to remember we are Love and nothing else, and we share Love’s attributes of peace and joy. While we lose ourselves in dreams of separation, fear and guilt, our true Self remembers for us that we remain Love as Love created us.

This memory is always available to us. We need only be willing to step back from the dream and look within to the truth of What we are. As we accept our Truth, we see the truth of Love in everyone, for what is true for our one Self is true for everyone. Today we would remember Who we are.

Claiming Our Identity as God’s Son

Today we ask of God the gift He has most carefully preserved within our hearts, waiting to be acknowledged. This the gift by which God leans to us and lifts us up, taking salvation’s final step Himself. All steps but this we learn, instructed by His Voice. But finally He comes Himself, and takes us in His Arms and sweeps away the cobwebs of our sleep. His gift of grace is more than just an answer. It restores all memories the sleeping mind forgot; all certainty of what Love’s meaning is.

God loves His Son. Request Him now to give the means by which this world will disappear, and vision first will come, with knowledge but an instant later. For in grace you see a light that covers all the world in love, and watch fear disappear from every face as hearts rise up and claim the light as theirs.

Your grace is given me. I claim it now. Father, I come to You. And You will come to me who ask. I am the Son You love. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 168, W-pI.168.3:1-4:3;6:5-9. See also ACIM Lesson 168 Insights.)

We, as one Self, are the Son God loves eternally. We need only acknowledge His gift to know it is ours. God does not need us to ask for the gift He has already given us. It is for ourselves that we need to ask for God’s gift because in the asking, we reverse the denial of the ego thought system.

Though we seem to be in a loveless dream of separation, God has given us His Voice to teach us how to wake up from the dream through forgiveness. With the Holy Spirit’s help we can learn to see past the things we thought justified our guilt and fear. What we see beyond them is that the dreams of fear and guilt have not changed the truth of Who we are. We remain God’s Son, as changeless as Himself.

Today we claim our Identity as God’s Son and remember His Love.

See the Innocence in Every Brother

Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Over and over this must be repeated, until it is accepted. It is true. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. Nothing can touch it, or change what God created as eternal. The self you made, evil and full of sin, is meaningless. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God, and light and joy and peace abide in you.

Salvation requires the acceptance of but one thought;—you are as God created you, not what you made of yourself. Whatever evil you may think you did, you are as God created you. Whatever mistakes you made, the truth about you is unchanged. Creation is eternal and unalterable. Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God. You are and will forever be exactly as you were created. Light and joy and peace abide in you because God put them there. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 93, W-pI.93.6-7. See also ACIM Lesson 93 Insights.)

The Self that God guarantees sinless is not the self we believe we are. It is not the image of a body, separate and alone. Our sinless Self is not contained in a body. It is one Self that unites us with all our brothers, for we share this one Self. This Self is guaranteed sinless, for it is eternally united with God.

The Course is teaching us to let go of identifying with a false image as what we are. As we identify more and more strongly with the Love God created as our Self, we naturally recognize our Self in everyone. We need to lay aside our false images and welcome the truth. And we will learn to see the sinlessness in every brother.

As we say to our brother, “Your sinlessness is guaranteed by God,” we are reminding ourselves that this is true for us. We are reminding ourselves to look past the body and its seeming behavior, for beyond the form is always the Love that is our one Self. Today we will remind ourselves often that our sinlessness is guaranteed by God.
