Being a Messenger of Unity with God

It is through [the Voice for God’s] ability to hear one Voice which is His Own that you become aware at last there is one Voice in you. And that one Voice appoints your function, and relays it to you, giving you the strength to understand it, do what it entails, and to succeed in everything you do that is related to it. God has joined His Son in this, and thus His Son becomes His messenger of unity with Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.154.3)

In general terms we have one function — to forgive, to look past all appearances. In each moment the Voice for God gives us the specific application of forgiveness. Whatever we perceive in the world needs to be recognized as just an appearance and looked past to see the unity of Love.

The appearance may be in the form of a relationship, a bill to pay, a piece of equipment to repair or a deadline to meet. From the perspective of separation, these may bring up feelings of irritation, frustration, stress or some other form of disturbance of our peace. They are all opportunities to apply the one function given us by our inner Teacher.

We can look past all appearances to the unity of Love if we accept the Holy Spirit’s help. He gives us His strength and His vision. It is through His strength, not our own as a separate identity, that we are able to look beyond appearances. His strength is enough to guarantee success when we are willing to accept His help.

Today we dedicate to accepting the strength of God in us, offered us by the Holy Spirit, so that we may be messengers of God’s unity.

Following Our Father’s Voice

Father, You are the One Who gave the plan for my salvation to me. You have set the way I am to go, the role to take, and every step in my appointed path. I cannot lose the way. I can but choose to wander off a while, and then return. Your loving Voice will always call me back, and guide my feet aright. My brothers all can follow in the way I lead them. Yet I merely follow in the way to You, as You direct me and would have me go. (A Course in Miracles, W-pII.324.1)

It is time to resign as our own guide. We have followed a path of lovelessness, lack and loss. It is time to choose to follow the loving Voice given us by our Creator. This Voice calls us Home, leading us on a path to infinite Love, perfect safety and freedom from fear.

To receive the guidance of this Voice, we need to frequently pause and connect with the center of peace within. This Voice is heard in quiet and in this quiet the Voice helps us resolve every seeming problem. This Voice for Love always leads us Home. We are grateful that this is so.

We Choose Love as Our Guide

We dedicate today to making all decisions, all interpretations, with our true Self as our Guide. The little self, which is separated off from the Source of Wisdom, knows nothing and cannot judge what anything means. We set aside all that the little self has learned in the illusion of separation.

As we choose to let our inner Guide lead, every situation, every relationship, every moment becomes a lesson in Love. Being Love’s Messenger, our Guide will always show us the Love behind every appearance. Love naturally joins with Love. As we follow Love’s lead, we experience more fully the limitless Love we are and our hearts are filled with gratitude.

Choosing Peace in the Present Moment

Today we practice accepting God’s peace and extending God’s peace to the world… We open our minds to receive Love’s precious gifts… With peace comes Holy Spirit’s inspiration in how to be truly helpful in the present moment…

Today we hand over all our worries and concerns, and open to the Holy Spirit’s clear perception… We let the happiness that is an inherent quality of Love fill our hearts and minds… All this naturally comes as we take the first step of choosing peace instead of conflict.

Defenselessness Makes Way for Strength

Today our theme is our defenselessness. We clothe ourselves in it, as we prepare to meet the day. We rise up strong in Christ, and let our weakness disappear, as we remember that His strength abides in us. We will remind ourselves that He remains beside us through the day, and never leaves our weakness unsupported by His strength. We call upon His strength each time we feel the threat of our defenses undermine our certainty of purpose. We will pause a moment, as He tells us, “I am here.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.153.19)

When we believe we are separate from our Creator, our Source of strength, a sense of weakness is inevitable. The strength of God remains with us, but we are not aware of it. Defensiveness is a natural response to a feeling of weakness, but it is a response to a false idea.

When something seems to disturb our peace, our happiness, our joy, it can be helpful to remind ourselves that this disturbance comes from believing in an appearance that is not true. The next step is to ask the Source of true vision to help us see the truth beyond the appearance.

As we open our minds to correction, our inner Teacher can show us that what seemed to be cause for defensiveness has no substance and cannot hurt us. As we loosen our investment in the belief that threat is real, a sense of calmness replaces the fear. We feel the strength of God in us replace the sense of weakness.

The practice of bringing any disturbance to our inner Teacher for His healing correction is the practice of forgiveness. It is the way we let go of illusions of isolation and weakness. It is the way we open to the strength of Love that unifies us with all our brothers and our Source. It is the way we return to peace and happiness. It is the way we move from defensiveness to defenselessness as we accept the strength of God in us.

Giving and Receiving Peace of Mind

To give is to receive. Today we will attempt to offer peace to everyone, and see how quickly peace returns to us. Light is tranquility, and in that peace is vision given us, and we can see.

To everyone I offer quietness.
To everyone I offer peace of mind.
To everyone I offer gentleness.

Say each one slowly and then pause a while, expecting to receive the gift you gave. And it will come to you in the amount in which you gave it.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.108.7:3-5;8:6-8;9:1-2)

Judgment is the cause of conflict. We cannot judge and have peace of mind. This is why forgiveness is the path to peace of mind.

When we let go of condemnation with the Holy Spirit’s help, we are able to see the unity of Love beyond all appearances. We give peace of mind and receive peace of mind by laying down judgment. This makes way for the clear vision of our true Self to show us there is no ‘other’ to defend against.

Separation never has occurred so there is no cause for guilt. We can happily welcome all our brothers into the boundless circle of Love that is our one Self. Our minds are at peace as we recognize we are all joined in Love’s Creation.

Accepting Christ’s Vision

Christ’s hand holds all His brothers in Himself. He gives them vision for their sightless eyes, and sings to them of Heaven, that their ears may hear no more the sound of battle and of death. …The sight of Christ is all there is to see. The song of Christ is all there is to hear. The hand of Christ is all there is to hold. There is no journey but to walk with Him. (A Course in Miracles, T-24.V.7:2-3,7-10)

We open our minds and give welcome to the Christ Mind… We rest in Its healing Love… We are calmed by Its healing song… We take all our concerns and worries to this loving Presence in our mind… Here we are shown how to see clearly… Here we are shown how to be truly helpful… We are willing for all our false ideas of differences and separation to be undone… We let Christ’s Love flow through us today.
