Peace First

The peace of God is everything I want. The peace of God is my one goal; the aim of all my living here, the end I seek, my purpose and my function and my life, while I abide where I am not at home. (A Course in Miracles W-pI.205.1:2-3)

Because peace is an attribute of Love, the practice of making peace my priority opens the door to welcome the experience of Love. It opens my mind to the Light that shows me that only Love is real. It shows me that all images that I perceive in the world of dreams have no substance and no effect. Only Love is real. With peace as my one goal, I am set firmly on the path Home, where my true Self resides and never left. This is how I make today the means to awaken to the truth of What I am.

Remembering Our One Self

Separation is only the decision not to know yourself. This whole thought system is a carefully contrived learning experience, designed to lead away from truth and into fantasy. Yet for every learning that would hurt you, God offers you correction and complete escape from all its consequences. (A Course in Miracles T-16.V.15:3-5)

Today’s practice is to recognize when I am making the decision not to know myself. Recognizing it is the first step, and willingness to accept correction is the second step. I may forget What I am and Where I am in truth many times during the day, but a willingness to practice receiving a change of mind is what today is for. This correction shows me the innocence in my brother and myself, instead of the guilt that comes with believing in illusions of separation.

If I judge anything, I have decided not to know myself. I can only judge if I believe I am separate. Yet in truth, I am one with All That Is — Love. My practice today is to be mindful of thoughts of judgment and to offer them to the Truth in my mind, Which will replace the thought of separation with the loving Thought of oneness, the vision of Christ.

Accepting Our Center of Peace

There is a center of peace within each of us that is our true Self. When we identify with the ego, we are unaware of this center of peace, but it is still there.

My practice for today is to focus on this center so that all my seeing and doing is guided by my true Self that does not believe in the images of the world. This is how I will be Love’s messenger today.

The Light of God we all are is remembered in this center of peace. In this state of mind there is clarity… there is calm… there is Love… Keeping an open channel to this peace-filled state of mind is my highest priority. Opening to peace and extending peace is what this day is for. And for this I give thanks.

Love Is Everywhere

Wherever I go, there I am. If I think I am a separate individual identity, no matter how many different outer circumstances I try to put myself in, I bring that ego identity with me. But the same holds true of my true Identity — It is always with me. When I identify with my true Self, I recognize that there is nothing outside. The one Self we all share is everywhere, and There I am.

As I practice holding my mind open to Christ’s vision, I will experience the happiness and peace of the one Self we all share. This is my focus for today.

The ego mind, which thinks in terms of separate identities, is not my real Mind. This ego mind just represents the choice to be separate from Love’s oneness. Today my practice is to be vigilant to hand over all false thinking to my inner Teacher, Who helps me see past these false thoughts to the truth that eternal Love is everywhere. Eternal Love is Reality. I am willing to receive the peace and joy that comes with this practice today.

Dedication to Truth

My focus for today is to accept the truth of Love’s wholeness instead of illusions of separation. My focus for today is to open to the Holy Spirit’s guidance regarding every situation. When I am willing, the Holy Spirit lifts the veil of illusions and shows me Love’s Wholeness behind every circumstance. Letting Holy Spirit show me the wholeness that lies beyond every image of separation is what today is for. To recognize wholeness, I must be dedicated to seeing only the truth. Here there is peace. Here there is joy.

The practice of letting the Holy Spirit judge all things on my behalf is how I am absolved of guilt. My practice today is to step out of the role of judge and make way for Holy Spirit to judge on my behalf. His judgment will teach me that only Love is real; guilt is impossible.

Willingness to Accept Christ’s Vision

As I read A Course in Miracles, I’m getting it more and more clearly that the body’s eyes are incapable of showing me the truth. The body was made out of the denial of truth. It is incapable of perceiving the truth. Because I seem to be in a body, experiencing the world through its senses, it’s very tempting to believe its messages.

The Course is not asking me to deny that I have these temptations. But it is encouraging me to bring these temptations to the Holy Spirit in my mind with a willingness to be shown what they truly are. The Holy Spirit is there to show me what is really there through Christ’s vision. The eyes of Christ see the truth beyond the images of the world. They are forgiving eyes that have let the past go.

The path to freedom and happiness is to redirect my attention from the messages of the body to the vision of Christ, which is the vision of our true Self. This is the way to happiness. This is how I clear the way for the Light of Love to shine through and show me that Love is everywhere to be seen. There is nothing else to see. Today is another happy day of practice in letting the vision of Christ replace the image making of the ego.

Joining in the Love of Our One Self

This is our prayer for today: Holy Spirit, guide our thoughts, our words, our hands, our feet today. We would follow only You today, knowing that You will guide us to perfect happiness. Guide our vision today that we may see the face of Christ in everyone. With You as our Guide, we will experience the joy of joining with everyone in the one Self we share. In this joining we will truly love and be loved. Thank you.
