Let this day be a day of stillness and of quiet listening. Your Father wills you hear His Word today. He calls to you from deep within your mind where He abides. Hear Him today. No peace is possible until His Word is heard around the world; until your mind, in quiet listening, accepts the message that the world must hear to usher in the quiet time of peace.” (A Course in Miracles W-pI.125.1)
Even though this day may appear to be very filled with worldly things to do, is important that I give time for quiet listening to the Holy Spirit, my inner Teacher. The ego mind thinks that this is a waste of time. But it is the way Home. The only way I will receive Holy Spirit’s inspiration is through my willingness to give time for quiet listening.
The Holy Spirit is very patient and waits for my willingness. Now is the time for quiet listening to hear God’s plan and not my own. This is my true purpose. This is what today is for. This is how I am returned to the awareness of Love’s Oneness.
To quiet my mind means to let go of making any plans on my own. It means to let go of judgment. It means that I let my mind be open to inspiration from beyond the thought system of separation. This can be done in an instant when I am willing.
I have observed that the habit of thinking I know what anything means keeps my mind closed to inspiration. I may have some willingness to quiet my mind, but the old habit brings in interfering static that I need to be vigilant to recognize and set aside. Sometimes I do this quickly. Sometimes I grab hold of the static and let it carry me for awhile, until I realize I have again closed my mind to inspiration.
Vigilance to recognize and set aside these distracting thoughts is key to holding my mind open to the inspired vision of Holy Spirit that will lead me Home. Today is a day for vigilance.
