Accepting Inspiration

Holy Spirit to Robert:
You experience a sense of efforting because you believe there is something that is resisting you. This is the effect of believing that you are separate. In oneness there is no “other” that can offer resistance. So a sense of efforting is a sure sign that you are engaged in the ego thought system of separation.

Become aware of when you are efforting and use it as a reminder to step back, allow yourself to return to peace, and open your mind to the Holy Spirit’s vision. As you do this, you will be inspired not only to recognize that there is no “other,” but also to see new actions or words within the world that will release the sense of effort. This morning you experienced this.

You had been looking for an instruction manual. You diligently looked in the likely places where it might be and then the unlikely places but did not find it. This morning you thought you had an idea of a place you hadn’t looked. But as you started to take steps to go to that place, your eyes fell upon the manual under a stack of papers within arms reach. It was there during all the time you were searching elsewhere.

The difference between all your efforts to find it before and today was that this time you were relaxed and your mind was open to be inspired to look where it could be found. Before, you were following the ego’s maxim of seek and do not find. Today, in that moment, you let go of what you thought the past taught you and accepted inspiration in the present moment. It was a lesson in learning the value of letting go of the past.

This can be your moment-by-moment experience every day. Just keep practicing letting go of effort, letting go of the past and opening to inspiration now.

Mary:
This morning as I go into a place of quiet, the words come to mind: “God goes with me wherever I go.” This means that the Holy Spirit’s inspiration is always with me every moment. I am reminded to go to that place of inner inspiration all through the day as I go through my daily activities. I am reminded not to reserve inspiration for just certain circumstances, certain situations. I am encouraged not to ignore inspiration in situations where I think I know what to do.

Today it is my opportunity to broaden my willingness to accept inspiration in every situation. I am encouraged to step back and listen more and more. This is my practice for today.
