Forgiveness lets the veil be lifted up that hides the face of Christ from those who look with unforgiving eyes upon the world. It lets you recognize the Son of God, and clears your memory of all dead thoughts so that remembrance of your Father can arise across the threshold of your mind. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.122.3:1-2)
Judgment clouds our vision so that we don’t recognize a call for Love, but misinterpret it as something to defend against. Thus, instead of responding with Love to a call for Love, we respond with a counter attack. Judgment feeds this spiral, taking us deeper and deeper into fear and guilt. Thankfully, there is a way out. Forgiveness, letting go of judgment, clears away the veil of fear and guilt so that the call for Love is recognized for what it is. And we naturally respond with Love. This Love is a gift we give ourselves because we are blessed as we extend Love’s blessing.
Today we again practice keeping our minds open to let Holy Spirit’s vision help us see past all appearances to the truth that only Love is real. With His help, calls for Love will be recognized and we will be blessed as we answer with Love. We will experience the joy of accepting our brothers as one with us. We will recognize them as God’s gift to us as they are indeed God’s extension. His Love is all we need. His Love is all we are. Forgiveness lets us remember what has always been.
