How to Be Happy
Robert:
I have observed that I’m happiest when I’m not judging. When I am judging, I am unhappy or at least less happy. I would seem obvious, then, that if I want to be happy, I need to not judge.
Yet I see the temptation to judge still shows up all too frequently. The little frustration, impatience about how long something takes, counting how many times something happens before deciding it’s time to be upset — all these are forms of judgment. None of these judgments make me happy. They only reinforce the sense of lack and guilt.
Part of me wants to ask, “Why do I keep doing this if it brings me unhappiness?” But that question comes from the ego, still seeking something to blame. “Why” doesn’t matter. What matters is my willingness to take each unforgiving thought to the Holy Spirit and ask for His help in letting it go. Willingness is my job. Holy Spirit provides the means for forgiveness, always offered me in a form that will help me see innocence.
Today my focus is to be mindful of my thoughts and to bring each recognized unforgiving thought to the Holy Spirit. He will help me see that it is nothing more than an imagined shadow that disappears in the Light of Love. I open my mind and heart to His Light today.
Mary:
The truth is everyone is still safe in the Mind of God. Everyone is still as God created them. The truth is nothing has changed and there are no differences between us. We still are joined in the one Mind of God. No one is left out.
Today my practice is to allow myself to remember this truth all through the day. The Holy Spirit is my constant Companion. As I give welcome to the truth, the truth will return to my mind. Forgiveness of ego’s perception is my only function here.
