Let My Mind Be Healed

This morning we worked with A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 137. This really stood out:

We will remember, as the hour strikes, our function is to let our minds be healed, that we may carry healing to the world, exchanging curse for blessing, pain for joy, and separation for the peace of God. (W-pI.137.13:1)

Here it is very clear that my only real purpose for today is to let my mind be healed. This requires that I pay attention to the thoughts that I am holding on to in my mind. Am I feeling blessed, joyful and filled with the peace of God? If not, I need to remember again that my function is to let my mind be healed.

The thoughts I hold in my mind are the cause of my experience. If I don’t like the effect, I must return to the cause — the thoughts I am joining with. My only function today is to hand over every thought that is not filled with blessing, joy and peace to the Holy Spirit to let my mind be healed.

I am eternally safe in the Presence of God. It is impossible to leave His Presence in truth. But I can imagine that I am somewhere else and will consequently experience a sense of loss, emptiness, lack of love and dispiritedness. To return to the joy of God’s Presence, I simply need to let go of trying to be somewhere else. I am grateful that the Holy Spirit remains in my mind to help me let go of false imaginings and remember that I remain safe in the Heart of God.

My practice for today is to be vigilant for the peace of God by offering every thought that seems to bring something else to the Holy Spirit in my mind. This is how I let go of the thoughts that God would not have me think and join with God’s eternal Thought of Love.
