Christ’s vision has one law. It does not look upon a body, and mistake it for the Son whom God created. It beholds a light beyond the body; an idea beyond what can be touched, a purity undimmed by errors, pitiful mistakes, and fearful thoughts of guilt from dreams of sin. It sees no separation. And it looks on everyone, on every circumstance, all happenings and all events, without the slightest fading of the light it sees. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 158, W-pI.158.7. The recognition that the Son of God is not a body is the most emphasized message in A Course in Miracles. It is a theme that appears repeatedly in the Text along with over 20 lessons in the Workbook for Students. Accepting this idea is the foundation of forgiveness. As we learn that we are not a body, but Mind in the Mind of Love, seeing with Christ’s Vision comes naturally.
Nothing that Love does needs forgiveness. It is only what bodies seem to do that needs to be forgiven. Mind cannot harm itself. Bodies can appear to harm other bodies, but only in illusion. To see with Christ’s Vision, the body must be overlooked, for the body is an attempt to limit the extension of Love. But Love cannot be limited. Christ’s vision sees beyond the body’s limits to the eternal extension of Love. This is forgiveness.
As we let go of the false images of limitation in the world, the Light of Love flows into our awareness. This is how we free ourselves to be the Love that we were created to be. Today our practice is to welcome the Holy Spirit’s Light in our minds with willingness to see with His vision. As we are willing to overlook the forms in the world and see the eternal presence of Love, we will remember Who we are.
