Vigilance for Peace

Let me not wander from the way of peace, for I am lost on other roads than this. But let me follow Him Who leads me home, and peace is certain as the Love of God. (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.220.1:2-3. See also ACIM Lesson 220 Insights.)

The slightest disturbance of our peace is a sure sign that we have wandered from the Love of God. We have wandered into fear. Fear is Love’s opposite, but as it says in the Introduction to the Text, Love has no opposite. And so fear is a sign we have wandered into an illusion that could never be real and therefore does not exist in truth.

The practice of being vigilant for peace, mindful of our level of peace, is how we keep ourselves from wandering from God’s peace. Any disturbance to our peace becomes a warning sign to remind us that it is time to return our attention to the peace within. In this peace we are receptive to the Holy Spirit’s lead, which will always show us the way back to peace. Vigilance for peace and willingness to follow Holy Spirit’s lead is our way Home.
