Transcending Our Belief in Separation

You can stretch out your hand and reach to Heaven. ²You whose hand is joined with your brother’s have begun to reach beyond the body, but not outside yourself, to reach your shared Identity together. ³Could this be outside you? ⁴Where God is not? ⁵Is He a body, and did He create you as He is not, and where He cannot be? ⁶You are surrounded only by Him. ⁷What limits can there be on you whom He encompasses?

Everyone has experienced what he would call a sense of being transported beyond himself. …³It is a sense of actual escape from limitations. ⁴If you will consider what this “transportation” really entails, you will realize that it is a sudden unawareness of the body, and a joining of yourself and something else in which your mind enlarges to encompass it. …⁷What really happens is that you have given up the illusion of a limited awareness, and lost your fear of union. ⁸The love that instantly replaces it extends to what has freed you, and unites with it. ⁹And while this lasts you are not uncertain of your Identity, and would not limit It. ¹⁰You have escaped from fear to peace, asking no questions of reality, but merely accepting it. ¹¹You have accepted this instead of the body, and have let yourself be one with something beyond it, simply by not letting your mind be limited by it. We can transcend our belief in limitation. This is the lesson the Course is teaching. God is not limited and the Son he created shares all His attributes. As we let go of limiting beliefs we become aware of our true Self.

The key to letting go of our beliefs in limitation is to let the Holy Spirit guide all our perceptions and decisions. Today we practice keeping our mind open to His lead.

Remembering Our Safety in God’s Love

I am in danger nowhere in the world.

Your Son is safe wherever he may be, for You are there with him. ²He need but call upon Your Name, and he will recollect his safety and Your Love, for they are one. ³How can he fear or doubt or fail to know he cannot suffer, be endangered, or experience unhappiness, when he belongs to You, beloved and loving, in the safety of Your Fatherly embrace?

And there we are in truth. ²No storms can come into the hallowed haven of our home. ³In God we are secure. ⁴For what can come to threaten God Himself, or make afraid what will forever be a part of Him? (A Course in Miracles, W-244. See also ACIM Lesson 244 Insights.)

Because God goes with us wherever we go, we are always safe in His loving embrace. Only our mistaken identification with a body blocks our awareness of our perfect safety. We are assured of God’s protection and His Love.

Today let us look on the world through the eyes of Love. Thus we will remember we are safe.

Finding Peace in Love’s Oneness

I am upset because I see a meaningless world.

The importance of this idea lies in the fact that it contains a correction for a major perceptual distortion. ²You think that what upsets you is a frightening world, or a sad world, or a violent world, or an insane world. ³All these attributes are given it by you. ⁴The world is meaningless in itself.

What is meaningless is neither good nor bad. ²Why, then, should a meaningless world upset you? ³If you could accept the world as meaningless and let the truth be written upon it for you, it would make you indescribably happy. ⁴But because it is meaningless, you are impelled to write upon it what you would have it be. ⁵It is this you see in it. ⁶It is this that is meaningless in truth. ⁷Beneath your words is written the Word of God. ⁸The truth upsets you now, but when your words have been erased, you will see His. The world has no meaning of its own. It only seems to have meaning because of what we project on it. We project our belief that we are separate from everything. We see differences in the world that seem to conflict, sometimes resulting in battles, others that seem to make us happy. All of these images only serve to reinforce our belief in being separate and alone.

If we are willing to acknowledge that we do not know what anything means in the world, we make way for the Holy Spirit to show us God’s meaning for everything. We see the presence of Love’s oneness instead of differences that conflict. We find joy in joining with God’s Love. We find peace in Love’s oneness where no conflicting differences exist. Today we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s meaning of the world in place of our own.

The Joy of Being Love

I share God’s Will for happiness for me.

You do not want to suffer. ²You may think it buys you something, and may still believe a little that it buys you what you want.

⁶Be you free today to join the happy Will of God.

³Here is your peace, and here there is no fear. ⁴Here is salvation. ⁵Here is rest at last.

Begin …with this acceptance of God’s Will for you:

²I share God’s Will for happiness for me, and I accept it as my function now.

Be happy, for your only function here is happiness. …pause frequently today, to tell yourself that you have now accepted happiness as your one function. ⁴And be sure that you are joining with God’s Will in doing this. God is only Love, and therefore His Creation is only Love. Happiness is an attribute of His Love.

As His Creation, our true Self is Love and therefore shares God’s happiness. To accept His happiness, we must accept His Love. We cannot identify with a body and the ego dedication to separation and know the Love of our true Self. As long as we accept a false identity, we cannot be truly happy.

We accept the Love we are by extending that Love. Giving and receiving are the same. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us recognize our opportunities to extend Love and join with Him in Love’s extension. As we extend Love, we share the joy of Love’s oneness.

Claiming Love’s Blessings

What could you want forgiveness cannot give? ²Do you want peace? ³Forgiveness offers it. ⁴Do you want happiness, a quiet mind, a certainty of purpose, and a sense of worth and beauty that transcends the world? ⁵Do you want care and safety, and the warmth of sure protection always? ⁶Do you want a quietness that cannot be disturbed, a gentleness that never can be hurt, a deep abiding comfort, and a rest so perfect it can never be upset?

All this forgiveness offers you, and more. ²It sparkles on your eyes as you awake, and gives you joy with which to meet the day. ³It soothes your forehead while you sleep, and rests upon your eyelids so you see no dreams of fear and evil, malice and attack. ⁴And when you wake again, it offers you another day of happiness and peace. ⁵All this forgiveness offers you, and more. Forgiveness is a blessing we give ourselves. Sometimes it seems that we are forgiving another, but if it is true forgiveness, we are really forgiving ourselves for beliefs we have held that lead us to judge another.

Only our judgments keep us unaware of all the blessings that are ours now. Sometimes we judge ourselves and feel guilty. More often, it seems, we judge others and we feel upset. But all judgments have the same source — the mistaken belief that we have succeeded in denying Love and separating from our Creator.

Today we choose to welcome Love’s blessing. We bring all of our judgments and our fears to the Holy Spirit with willingness to accept His help. He will help us to see that only Love is real. He will help us know that anything that seems to disturb our peace has no basis in reality. With this practice, we will reclaim the blessings Love always offers.

Our Mission as God’s Son

Hear, holy Son of God, your Father speak. ²His Voice would give to you His holy Word, to spread across the world the tidings of salvation and the holy time of peace. ³We gather at the throne of God today, the quiet place within the mind where He abides forever, in the holiness that He created and will never leave.

He has not waited until you return your mind to Him to give His Word to you. ²He has not hid Himself from you, while you have wandered off a little while from Him. ³He does not cherish the illusions which you hold about yourself. ⁴He knows His Son, and wills that he remain as part of Him regardless of his dreams; regardless of his madness that his will is not his own.

Today He speaks to you. ²His Voice awaits your silence, for His Word can not be heard until your mind is quiet for a while, and meaningless desires have been stilled. ³Await His Word in quiet. ⁴There is peace within you to be called upon today, to help make ready your most holy mind to hear the Voice for its Creator speak.

²He speaks from nearer than your heart to you. ³His Voice is closer than your hand. ⁴His Love is everything you are and that He is; the same as you, and you the same as He. (A Course in Miracles, W-125.4:1–6:4;7:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 125 Insights.)

God is ever-present in our mind. His Voice speaks to us continuously of His Love for His beloved Son. But He cannot be heard while we attend to the ego’s meaningless chatter and artificial values. We need to pause from the ego thoughts and quiet our mind.

In quiet, His Voice speaks to us of our perfect safety in His Love. It offers us the vision of Christ to see the unity of our one Self that joins us with every brother. As we let His Voice become our primary choice to hear, the conflicts of the world fade away.

We let the Love He gives flow through as we offer It to every brother. We accept our role as God’s Son and extend the Love that created us. This is our mission.

Accepting the Lessons That Set Us Free

God’s peace and joy are mine.

²Today I will accept God’s peace and joy, in glad exchange for all the substitutes that I have made for happiness and peace.

Let me be still and listen to the truth.

²Let my own feeble voice be still, and let me hear the mighty Voice for Truth Itself assure me that I am God’s perfect Son. (A Course in Miracles, W-118. See also ACIM Lesson 118 Insights.)

Love created us like Itself. Thus we were created worthy and deserving of Love’s peace and joy. If we are not experiencing this, we are believing in a false identity. We have chosen separation instead of Love’s oneness.

All the appearances of lack and loss, attack and harm are just reflections of the choice for separation. We need to forgive that choice. We have been given the Holy Spirit to help us learn to let go of the false and welcome Love’s reality.

Today we practice pausing to still our mind. In stillness we welcome the truth. We welcome the lessons in forgiveness that set us free to be the Son God created one with Himself.
