Letting Our Troubled Mind Be Healed

There is nothing to fear.

The idea for today simply states a fact. ²It is not a fact to those who believe in illusions, but illusions are not facts. ³In truth there is nothing to fear. ⁴It is very easy to recognize this. ⁵But it is very difficult to recognize it for those who want illusions to be true.

…whenever possible …close your eyes and repeat the idea slowly to yourself several times. ⁵It is particularly important that you use the idea immediately, should anything disturb your peace of mind.

The presence of fear is a sure sign that you are trusting in your own strength. ²The awareness that there is nothing to fear shows that somewhere in your mind, though not necessarily in a place you recognize as yet, you have remembered God, and let His strength take the place of your weakness. ³The instant you are willing to do this there is indeed nothing to fear. (A Course in Miracles, W-48.1;2:4-5;3. See also ACIM Lesson 48 Insights.)

We have a reliable feedback system that lets us know when we need to pause to remind ourselves that the strength of God is always with us. Anything that disturbs our peace of mind is a signal to ask the Holy Spirit to help us remember that we live in the peace of God. His help is always available. We just need to accept it.

Reminding ourselves that “there is nothing to fear” helps calm our troubled mind. In quiet we welcome the Holy Spirit’s vision, which shows our strength and dispels illusions that we believed could cause us harm. We learn that they have no substance; they cannot have any real effect on our true Self.
