Receiving Holy Spirit’s Vision

³Spirit is the Thought of God which He created like Himself. ⁴The unified spirit is God’s one Son, or Christ.

In this world, because the mind is split, the Sons of God appear to be separate. ²Nor do their minds seem to be joined. ³In this illusory state, the concept of an “individual mind” seems to be meaningful. ⁴It is therefore described in the course as if it has two parts; spirit and ego.

Spirit is the part that is still in contact with God through the Holy Spirit, Who abides in this part but sees the other part [ego] as well.

The mind can be right or wrong, depending on the voice to which it listens. ²Right-mindedness listens to the Holy Spirit, forgives the world, and through Christ’s vision sees the real world in its place. ³This is the final vision, the last perception, the condition in which God takes the final step Himself. ⁴Here time and illusions end together. (A Course in Miracles, C-1.1:3–3:1;5)

The truth in all of us unites us in spirit as God’s one Son. Under the Holy Spirit’s direction, our right mind sees past appearances in the world to the unity of Love. Differences are dismissed as meaningless illusions which cannot divide God’s Son into separate parts.

Let us commit this day to the practice of letting our mind be quiet and receptive to the Holy Spirit’s vision. As we choose to see as He sees, the world is lit by the Light of Love. Peace is restored to our mind.

Rise Above to See Only Love

Forget not that you came this far together, you and your brother. ²And it was surely not the ego that led you here. ³No obstacle to peace can be surmounted through its help. ⁴It does not open up its secrets, and bid you look on them and go beyond them. ⁵It would not have you see its weakness, and learn it has no power to keep you from the truth. ⁶The Guide Who brought you here remains with you, and when you raise your eyes you will be ready to look on terror with no fear at all. ⁷But first, lift up your eyes and look on your brother in innocence born of complete forgiveness of his illusions, and through the eyes of faith that sees them not.

No one can look upon the fear of God unterrified, unless he has accepted the Atonement and learned illusions are not real. ²No one can stand before this obstacle alone, for he could not have reached this far unless his brother walked beside him. ³And no one would dare to look on it without complete forgiveness of his brother in his heart. (A Course in Miracles, T-19.IV-D.8:1–9:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Our release from fear depends on our willingness to forgive our brothers for their illusions. What we see in others is a reflection of what we believe we are. When we can see the Love that is the truth in others, we learn that we are Love.

Vision that heals comes when we are willing to rise above what the body’s eyes see to let Christ’s vision show us Love’s innocence in a brother. No cause for fear is seen, for this vision sees only Reality. In Love, we join with our brothers to bring joy and peace to the world.

Letting Love’s Light Be Our Guide

Where darkness was I look upon the light.

Father, our eyes are opening at last. ²Your holy world awaits us, as our sight is finally restored and we can see. ³We thought we suffered. ⁴But we had forgot the Son whom You created. ⁵Now we see that darkness is our own imagining, and light is there for us to look upon. ⁶Christ’s vision changes darkness into light, for fear must disappear when love has come. ⁷Let me forgive Your holy world today, that I may look upon its holiness and understand it but reflects my own.

Our Love awaits us as we go to Him, and walks beside us showing us the way. ²He fails in nothing. ³He the End we seek, and He the Means by which we go to Him. (A Course in Miracles, W-302. See also ACIM Lesson 302 Insights.)

Our true Self is eternally safe in Love’s universe. The uncertainty and fear we experience is because we have accepted an identity that denies reality. Only our belief in this imagined identity makes it seem real.

We need to forgive ourselves for choosing to believe in a false identity. Forgiveness opens our mind to Christ’s vision, which allows the Light of Love to show us the holy world we live in. Fear disappears in the presence of Love. Today we choose Love’s Light as our Guide to the recognition that we remain one with our Father in Love.

Remembering God’s Love for Us All

When you made visible what is not true, what is true became invisible to you. ²Yet it cannot be invisible in itself, for the Holy Spirit sees it with perfect clarity. ³It is invisible to you because you are looking at something else. ⁴Yet it is no more up to you to decide what is visible and what is invisible, than it is up to you to decide what reality is. ⁵What can be seen is what the Holy Spirit sees. ⁶The definition of reality is God’s, not yours.

Because of your Father’s Love you can never forget Him, for no one can forget what God Himself placed in his memory. ²You can deny it, but you cannot lose it. ³A Voice will answer every question you ask, and a vision will correct the perception of everything you see. ⁴For what you have made invisible is the only truth, and what you have not heard is the only Answer. ⁵God would reunite you with yourself, and did not abandon you in your distress. ⁶You are waiting only for Him, and do not know it. ⁷Yet His memory shines in your mind and cannot be obliterated. ⁸It is no more past than future, being forever always.

…the memory of God can dawn only in a mind that chooses to remember, and that has relinquished the insane desire to control reality. (A Course in Miracles, T-12.VIII.3:1-6;4;5:3. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The ego’s wish for specialness is the wish to control reality. But Reality is defined by God; It is His Love, uniformly one eternally. Specialness cannot exist in what is all the same. To control reality it must be deny Love. It conjures an alternate ‘reality’ where differences conflict, fear is inevitable, and memory of our Father’s Love is unknown.

God wants us to remember His Love. We make the choice to remember when we are willing to forgive our judgments. Forgiveness welcomes the Light of Love into our mind. This Light reveals the Love that unites with Him and all His Creation. It restores our peace and happiness. It gives us vision to see everyone as part of our one Self.

The Gift That Unites Us with All

Forgiveness is the only gift I give.

Forgiveness is the only gift I give, because it is the only gift I want. ²And everything I give I give myself. ³This is salvation’s simple formula. ⁴And I, who would be saved, would make it mine, to be the way I live within a world that needs salvation, and that will be saved as I accept Atonement for myself.

Father, how certain are Your ways; how sure their final outcome, and how faithfully is every step in my salvation set already, and accomplished by Your grace. ²Thanks be to You for Your eternal gifts, and thanks to You for my Identity. (A Course in Miracles, W-297. See also ACIM Lesson 297 Insights.)

The ego is the idea that there is value in differences. But the wish to have a unique identity can only seem to be fulfilled in a dream where fantasy replaces reality. The oneness of our Father’s Love is eternal and cannot be effected by fantasy, though It can be hidden behind a veil of illusions.

Forgiveness is the only meaningful gift we can give to anyone. It opens our awareness to the Love that is everyone’s Identity. Because Love is one, forgiveness is a gift that encompasses everyone, including ourselves. Forgiveness brings peace to the world, because there is no conflict within the Love that is one and the same for all.

Seeing Our Unity in Love

⁹Everyone God created is part of you and shares His glory with you. ¹⁰His glory belongs to Him, but it is equally yours. ¹¹You cannot, then, be less glorious than He is.

³Neither God’s light nor yours is dimmed because you do not see. ⁴Because the Sonship must create as one, you remember creation whenever you recognize part of creation. ⁵Each part you remember adds to your wholeness because each part is whole. ⁶Wholeness is indivisible, but you cannot learn of your wholeness until you see it everywhere. ⁷You can know yourself only as God knows His Son, for knowledge is shared with God. ⁸When you awake in Him you will know your magnitude by accepting His limitlessness as yours.

Very simply, the Holy Spirit teaches you to awaken others. ³As you see them waken you will learn what waking means, and because you have chosen to wake them, their gratitude and their appreciation of what you have given them will teach you its value.

⁸Accept [the truth in] your brother in this world and accept nothing else, for in him you will find your creations because he created them with you. ⁹You will never know that you are co-creator with God until you learn that your brother is co-creator with you. (A Course in Miracles, T-9.VI.3:9-11;4:3-8;5:2-3;7:8-9. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

God’s Light illuminates all of Reality. There is nowhere that His Love is absent. Only in dreams that deny His Love does His Light seem to be absent. Through forgiveness, Christ’s vision allows God’s Light into the dark dream. This Light shows us the truth in every brother. It allows us to see the Love that is his true Self.

As we see the Love in him, it awakens the Love in us. In this recognition we acknowledge our oneness with our brother. In gratitude, we join together to extend Love to the world.

The Way to Bring Peace to Our World

I will accept Atonement for myself.

Here is the end of choice. ²For here we come to a decision to accept ourselves as God created us. ³And what is choice except uncertainty of what we are? ⁴There is no doubt that is not rooted here. ⁵There is no question but reflects this one. ⁶There is no conflict that does not entail the single, simple question, “What am I?”

Yet who could ask this question except one who has refused to recognize himself?

Nothing the world believes is true. ²It is a place whose purpose is to be a home where those who claim they do not know themselves can come to question what it is they are. ³And they will come again until the time Atonement is accepted, and they learn it is impossible to doubt yourself, and not to be aware of what you are.

Only acceptance can be asked of you, for what you are is certain.

…our mission is:

³I will accept Atonement for myself, for I remain as God created me.

⁴We have not lost the knowledge that God gave to us when He created us like Him. ⁵We can remember it for everyone, for in creation are all minds as one. (W-139.1:1-2:1;7:1–8:1;11:2-5)

The world we see represents our denial of our Self, which God created like Him. All the apparent conflict we perceive will disappear as we accept that we remain as God created us.

Today we accept our mission to forgive our mistaken wish for specialness and accept that we remain whole within the universe of Love as our Home. It is the mission that will bring peace and happiness to the world.

Letting Go of Limits on Love

Whom God created limitless is free. ²I can invent imprisonment for him, but only in illusions, not in truth. ³No Thought of God has left its Father’s Mind. ⁴No Thought of God is limited at all. ⁵No Thought of God but is forever pure. ⁶Can I lay limits on the Son of God, whose Father willed that he be limitless, and like Himself in freedom and in love?

Today let me give honor to Your Son, for thus alone I find the way to You. ²Father, I lay no limits on the Son You love and You created limitless. ³The honor that I give to him is Yours, and what is Yours belongs to me as well. (A Course in Miracles, W-280.1–2. See also ACIM Lesson 280 Insights.)

The ego is an attempt to separate off part of God from Himself. The result is a terrifying dream in which limited figures wander in fear of outside forces capable of taking all that they treasure. Peace is impossible in this dream because the Source of peace has been denied. This dream seems like reality, but it has no effect on the Reality of God’s Creation.

In truth, we are all united as God’s one Son, forever one in His Love. We can awaken from this dream by forgiving the wish for specialness. The Holy Spirit is the bridge in our mind between our dreams of lack of Love and the unity we share with all in our Father’s Love. Today we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to let go of our limits on Love and welcome our Father’s embrace, which encompasses all without limit.

Making the Choice for Love

Heaven is the decision I must make.

Heaven is chosen consciously. ²The choice cannot be made until alternatives are accurately seen and understood. ³All that is veiled in shadows must be raised to understanding, to be judged again, this time with Heaven’s help. ⁴And all mistakes in judgment that the mind had made before are open to correction, as the truth dismisses them as causeless. ⁵Now are they without effects. ⁶They cannot be concealed, because their nothingness is recognized.

The conscious choice of Heaven is as sure as is the ending of the fear of hell, when it is raised from its protective shield of unawareness, and is brought to light.

We make the choice for Heaven as we wake, and spend five minutes making sure that we have made the one decision that is sane. ²We recognize we make a conscious choice between what has existence and what has nothing but an appearance of the truth. ³Its pseudo-being, brought to what is real, is flimsy and transparent in the light. …⁵Now it is recognized as but a foolish, trivial mistake.

⁵Heaven is the decision I must make. ⁶I make it now, and will not change my mind, because it is the only thing I want. (W-138.9:1–10:1;11:1-3,5;12:5-6)

The ego makes its choices unconscious to prevent them from being questioned. This supports its claim to be a separate identity, vulnerable to outside forces beyond its control. But every choice has an effect. If a choice denies Reality, it produces a dream of alternate images that hide Reality from our awareness.

To awaken from the dream, we need to bring our choices out of the darkness of the unconscious. As we observe our choices in the Light of the Holy Spirit’s vision, it becomes clear that choices made which deny Love’s Reality have no substance.

We do not want the lack of Love that is the consequence of denying Love. With this recognition, the choice to accept the Love we are comes naturally.

The Vision That Brings Peace and Happiness

My present happiness is all I see.

Unless I look upon what is not there, my present happiness is all I see. ²Eyes that begin to open see at last. ³And I would have Christ’s vision come to me this very day. ⁴What I perceive without God’s Own Correction for the sight I made is frightening and painful to behold. ⁵Yet I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. ⁶This the day I seek my present happiness, and look on nothing else except the thing I seek.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. ²You cannot fail to hear me, Father. ³What I ask have You already given me. ⁴And I am sure that I will see my happiness today. (A Course in Miracles, W-290. See also ACIM Lesson 290 Insights.)

Christ’s vision is God’s correction for the body’s myopic vision which can only see illusions. Images of differences and division are replaced by the remembrance of our unity in the oneness of Love.

We experience only peace and happiness as we accept the strength of our Father’s Love to see past the illusions of the dream. In gratitude we accept His gifts as we forgive our mistaken wish for specialness.

The Vision That Transforms Our World

All things are given you. ²God’s trust in you is limitless. ³He knows His Son. ⁴He gives without exception, holding nothing back that can contribute to your happiness. ⁵And yet, unless your will is one with His, His gifts are not received. ⁶But what would make you think there is another will than His?

Here is the paradox that underlies the making of the world. ²This world is not the Will of God, and so it is not real.

Yet in his lonely, senseless wanderings, God’s gifts go with him, all unknown to him. ²He cannot lose them. ³But he will not look at what is given him. ⁴He wanders on, aware of the futility he sees about him everywhere, perceiving how his little lot but dwindles, as he goes ahead to nowhere. ⁵Still he wanders on in misery and poverty, alone though God is with him, and a treasure his so great that everything the world contains is valueless before its magnitude.

³One walks with you Who gently answers all your fears with this one merciful reply, “It is not so.” ⁴He points to all the gifts you have each time the thought of poverty oppresses you, and speaks of His Companionship when you perceive yourself as lonely and afraid.

²Become the living proof of what Christ’s touch can offer everyone. ³God has entrusted all His gifts to you. ⁴Be witness in your happiness to how transformed the mind becomes which chooses to accept His gifts, and feel the touch of Christ. (A Course in Miracles, W-166.1:1–2:2;5;11:3-4;15:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 166 Insights.)

One thing is certain about everything the body’s eyes see — it is not so. Itself an illusion, the body can only ‘see’ illusions. It sees a veil cleverly constructed by the thought system of separation to hide the reality of the eternal Presence of our Father’s Love.

But One walks with us in our mind Who offers us vision beyond the body to see the reality of Love in which we live. He offers us Companionship which assures us that we are not alone and we are safe in the sure protection of our Father’s strength. Today we welcome His help to see our world transformed by Christ’s vision which shows us our eternal unity in God’s Love.

Remembering the Strength of God in Us

³You always choose between your weakness and the strength of Christ in you. ⁴And what you choose is what you think is real. ⁵Simply by never using weakness to direct your actions, you have given it no power. ⁶And the light of Christ in you is given charge of everything you do. ⁷For you have brought your weakness unto Him, and He has given you His strength instead.

Trials are but lessons that you failed to learn presented once again, so where you made a faulty choice before you now can make a better one, and thus escape all pain that what you chose before has brought to you.

The images you make cannot prevail against what God Himself would have you be. ²Be never fearful of temptation, then, but see it as it is; another chance to choose again, and let Christ’s strength prevail in every circumstance and every place you raised an image of yourself before. ³For what appears to hide the face of Christ is powerless before His majesty, and disappears before His holy sight.

Learn, then, the happy habit of response to all temptation to perceive yourself as weak and miserable with these words:

²I am as God created me. ³His Son can suffer nothing. ⁴And I am His Son.

⁵Thus is Christ’s strength invited to prevail, replacing all your weakness with the strength that comes from God and that can never fail. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VIII.2:3–3:1;4:1-3;5:1-5. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

God does not condemn. He knows that He created His Son eternally one with Himself. That is why we always have the option to change our belief about what we are. Beliefs do not change Reality. The ego is the belief that it is possible to be separate from our Father. It is the denial that God’s Love and strength are ours, without limit. While we identify with the ego, we will feel vulnerable to harm from ‘outside’ forces.

As we learn to accept the fact that we are God’s Son, our sense of vulnerability will fade. Our confidence in Christ’s strength in us will grow. We will feel the strength of our Father’s Love and join in Love’s extension to the world.

We All Are Loved and Blessed by God

The Word of God is given me to speak.

What is the Word of God? ²“My Son is pure and holy as Myself.” ³And thus did God become the Father of the Son He loves, for thus was he created. ⁴This the Word His Son did not create with Him, because in this His Son was born. ⁵Let us accept His Fatherhood, and all is given us. ⁶Deny we were created in His Love and we deny our Self, to be unsure of Who we are, of Who our Father is, and for what purpose we have come. ⁷And yet, we need but to acknowledge Him Who gave His Word to us in our creation, to remember Him and so recall our Self.

Father, Your Word is mine. ²And it is this that I would speak to all my brothers, who are given me to cherish as my own, as I am loved and blessed and saved by You. (A Course in Miracles, W-276. See also ACIM Lesson 276 Insights.)

In truth, we were created by God’s Love. When we identify with the ego, we deny the Self God created one with Himself. We deny all that is real. We can only perceive a dream devoid of Love and wholly without meaning. In this mistaken identity we are left to wander aimlessly, seeking for Love where it cannot be found.

We need only forgive our mistaken identification with the ego. Without our loyalty, the ego’s veil is lifted to reveal the brilliant Light that is our Self, united with our Father. In this Light we are certain that we are loved and blessed, along everyone. Not one is left outside our Father’s Love.

Accepting Limitless Joy and Peace

Glory to God in the highest, and to you because He has so willed it. ²Ask and it shall be given you, because it has already been given. ³Ask for light and learn that you are light. ⁴If you want understanding and enlightenment you will learn it, because your decision to learn it is the decision to listen to the Teacher Who knows of light, and can therefore teach it to you. ⁵There is no limit on your learning because there is no limit on your mind. ⁶There is no limit on His teaching because He was created to teach. ⁷Understanding His function perfectly He fulfills it perfectly, because that is His joy and yours.

To fulfill the Will of God perfectly is the only joy and peace that can be fully known, because it is the only function that can be fully experienced. ²When this is accomplished, then, there is no other experience. ³Yet the wish for other experience will block its accomplishment, because God’s Will cannot be forced upon you, being an experience of total willingness. ⁴The Holy Spirit understands how to teach this, but you do not. ⁵That is why you need Him, and why God gave Him to you. ⁶Only His teaching will release your will to God’s, uniting it with His power and glory and establishing them as yours. ⁷You share them as God shares them, because this is the natural outcome of their being. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.III.1–2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

Do we want joy and peace? We can have it without limit by accepting what has already been given us. It is God’s Will that we have all that He has, now and forever. Only our wish to experience separation prevents us from knowing the will we share with our Creator.

We have been given a Teacher in our mind Whose function is to teach us the truth about what we were created to be. We have taught ourselves to believe we are unique and different. Our inner Teacher’s function is to teach us to undo our mistaken beliefs and release our mind to accept God’s Will that we be one with Him in Love. As we learn His lessons, we will know limitless happiness and peace.

Paying Attention to God’s Voice

God’s healing Voice protects all things today.

Let us today attend the Voice for God, which speaks an ancient lesson, no more true today than any other day. ²Yet has this day been chosen as the time when we will seek and hear and learn and understand. ³Join me in hearing. ⁴For the Voice for God tells us of things we cannot understand alone, nor learn apart. ⁵It is in this that all things are protected. ⁶And in this the healing of the Voice for God is found.

Your healing Voice protects all things today, and so I leave all things to You. ²I need be anxious over nothing. ³For Your Voice will tell me what to do and where to go; to whom to speak and what to say to him, what thoughts to think, what words to give the world. ⁴The safety that I bring is given me. ⁵Father, Your Voice protects all things through me. (A Course in Miracles, W-275. See also ACIM Lesson 275 Insights.)

We have a Comforter Who goes with us wherever we go. It does not matter what we think or who we think are. He remains with us. If we are in fear, He is there to assure us that we are safe. If we feel guilty, He tells us that we are forgiven. If we are sad, He reminds us that we are worthy of happiness beyond anything the world has to offer. If we are uncertain about what to do or where to go, He is present in our mind to guide us in the way of peace and Love.

We pause, today, to quiet our troubled mind to let peace come forward. In quiet, we give our attention to the Voice for God Which tells us of our Home, where we are united with all in our Father’s Love.
