The memory of God comes to the quiet mind. ²It cannot come where there is conflict, for a mind at war against itself remembers not eternal gentleness. ³The means of war are not the means of peace, and what the warlike would remember is not love. ⁴War is impossible unless belief in victory is cherished. ⁵Conflict within you must imply that you believe the ego has the power to be victorious.
Conflict must be between two forces. ²It cannot exist between one power and nothingness. ³There is nothing you could attack that is not part of you. ⁴And by attacking it you make two illusions of yourself, in conflict with each other. ⁵And this occurs whenever you look on anything that God created with anything but love.… ⁹Let all this madness be undone for you, and turn in peace to the rememberance of God, still shining in your quiet mind.
Illusion meets illusion; truth, itself. ²The meeting of illusions leads to war. ³Peace, looking on itself, extends itself. ⁴War is the condition in which fear is born, and grows and seeks to dominate. ⁵Peace is the state where love abides, and seeks to share itself. ⁶Conflict and peace are opposites. ⁷Where one abides the other cannot be; where either goes the other disappears. ⁸So is the memory of God obscured in minds that have become illusions’ battleground. ⁹Yet far beyond this senseless war it (memory of God) shines, ready to be remembered when you side with peace. The dream of a world was made to be a place where God, Love, is forgotten. Being one and the same always and everywhere, there is no conflict in Love. In every moment we choose between the ego and its dream of conflict and our true Self and the changelessness of Love.
Fear is inevitable in dreams of conflict. Likewise only the reality of Love is in the memory of God. In His remembrance, fear is impossible; peace is a constant, invulnerable state. In truth, the memory of God is all we really want. Nothing else will satisfy, for it is the awakening to our true Self.
Today we pause frequently to welcome peace in our mind, for we would remember the Love of God.
