Possibly – my word of the day! If I just remember the word “possibly” throughout my day, I know that I will walk in peace, no matter what event or situation crosses my path!
The definition of possibly in the thesaurus is: It may be true, but there is no certainty, and a synonym of possibly is maybe. Another definition of possibly from the Cambridge dictionary is: when something is not certain.
Thinking about these definitions reminds me of the teachings from Pathways of Light where I accept that I do not know the situation of others. To mind-read, judge, or assume that I know what situations or circumstances prompt a response from another brother is the ego mindset.
Keeping the peace of possibly reminds me to stay in Oneness, which means to me that when I interpret someone’s actions through the ego lens, I might make inaccurate judgments or become convinced that I know the reason for their behavior.
When I go to Holy Spirit and bring my peace mantra of the word “possibly,” I take a deep breath and realize that the circumstance of the person dictates the behavior or their state of being causes their reaction.
Therefore, if I interpret someone’s behavior as rude or uncaring, I can take a step back and consider that possibly my interpretation is incorrect as seen through my ego eyes. Bringing the word and gift of possibly to my mindset, I am given an entirely different picture of empathy and Oneness. For example, if someone cuts me off in traffic, possibly their circumstance is that they are in an emergency hurry to get to a medical appointment or pick up a child on time or avoid a reprimand if late to work.
Another example is when I interpret a person’s expression as uncaring or judgmental. I might jump to the ego lens judgment of feeling a personal affront or summarize that they don’t like me. I change my life glasses and go to my peace mantra of saying, “possibly I am guessing this situation all wrong as I really do not know.” When I bring my word of peace, I now see an entirely different reel or “real.”
I now see somebody who possibly has reasons for their affect that have nothing to do with me. In the encounter, I am only a few short seconds in their life and whatever events or circumstances have led up to their reaction was created before I even came on the scene.
Now I take a step back and give the benefit of the doubt, accepting the possibility of remembering the definition that possibly my view is not certain, no proof, just judgment. I now choose to live in grace and embrace a circumstance viewpoint to be at peace in not knowing, and I can give a gift of a Oneness viewpoint!
The alternative of feeling all-knowing just brings me into a state of turmoil, sadness and isolation. But trading my glasses for the viewpoint of oneness brings me a gift of peace in remembering and believing that we are all One. Even when we break the bridge of connection because of a challenging circumstance, one of us in the encounter can restore the bridge of connection through kindness and light.
Circumstance is the sibling of possibly as the definition of circumstance is a condition connected to an event, not always the true person. Sometimes a reaction is based on a mindset dictated by stressful events that do not define the person. These words remind me to give grace and be grateful for the gift of not knowing so that I can see each person for their true self of Love that never erodes, even when circumstances are challenging.
My role as a believer and minister of the teachings of Pathways of Light can help me be the love and light that sees the person and considers the circumstance so that in every encounter, I remember to create the foundation of connection and oneness! I live with the mantra that possibly there are many reasons for behavior, but only One true self!
