Undoing the Ego — A Review of Take Me to Truth

by Rogier van Vlissingen

Nouk Sanchez and Tomas Vieira in their new book Take Me To Truth — Undoing the Ego share with us from their experience as they went their own (tandem) path of spiritual growth with A Course In Miracles by living it and applying it in their daily lives, and sharing the experience with each other and other people around them.

An Irresistible Plan: Translation of Pathways of Light Courses into Spanish

by Rev. Annie Arbona

imageThe greatest thing I have learned in the last seven months is that Love’s Call is irresistible, and the response to this Call can become a magnificent adventure. A telephone call to Pathways of Light in mid February and the response to that call gave way to a chain of events that seemed to occur in perfect synchronicity.

When love calls and Love responds to that Call, anything and everything can happen. And everything did. The call and the generosity of the answer have birthed a wonderful project, the scope of which I’m sure we can’t see completely at this time, but already the results are mind boggling.

Allowing A Time of Quiet

by Mary Stoelting

imageWhen I do not feel relaxed and in a state of peaceful calm, I have a way to change this when I am willing. The Course reminds me in Lesson 189: “Simply do this: Be still, and lay aside all thoughts of what you are and what God is; all concepts you have learned about the world; all images you hold about yourself. Empty your mind of everything it thinks is either true or false, or good or bad, of every thought it judges worthy, and all the ideas of which it is ashemed. Hold onto nothing.”  W-189.7:1-3

Who Am I?

by Rev. Étienne Pait

imagePerhaps what and how we do anything comes from a direct correlation of how we perceive ourselves.  How often do we define who we are as a name, a role, a relationship, a fan, a nationality, a color, a status, a member, and so on and so on, ad nauseam? If my answer to the question, ‘Who am I?’ is ‘Étienne’ (the name my parents gave me) then I will be and act out according to whom I think ‘I’ should be, given the meaning I have for this body and mind I am using.

If my answer is, “I am a minister” then I will be and act out what I think a minister should be according to my definition. If my answer is, “I am an American,” then I will act out what I believe an American should be. If my answer is, “I am a father,” then I will be and act out according to the meaning I give this role. You get the idea. If I choose to perceive and identify who I am only through distinct identities and special relationships, then I will limit Who I can be and Who I really am.

Course Koans

by Rev. Jean Weston

imageThe Merriam-Webster online dictionary defines koan as follows:

A paradox to be meditated upon that is used to train Zen Buddhist monks to abandon ultimate dependence on reason and to force them into gaining sudden intuitive enlightenment.

A Course In Miracles has an abundance of statements that fit the description of a koan.  It’s one of a number of qualities of the Course that convinces me that it truly is a divinely inspired writing. As a relatively new student, it has been helpful to contemplate these koans to open myself to deeper levels of my True Self. I will list a few of these, and state what comes to me when I really think about them.
Infinite patience produces immediate effects.  (T-5.VI.12)

Come to Me

by Rev. Christine Anderson

imageDuring a Pathways of Light “Joining with Holy Spirit” service, I received this beautiful message of support and encouragement from Holy Spirit.

Come to Me, come to Me, and remember that the false beliefs that you look at with Me will not overwhelm you. Just do this, when you notice a thought that does not hold value to you any longer: Call on Me and I’ll be there with My Hand on your shoulder as a real presence in your experience.

My Healing Journey

by Rev. Mary Manke

imageI have had many lessons, and opening to mind healing, which I am certain is just the beginning for me. I seem to have begun this experience of Lupus and transverse myelitis, on July 16th, 2007.

On Monday morning I couldn’t stand, I could not crawl. There was a constant tingling or buzzing from my feet up to my abdomen. Later it seemed to have crept up to just under the breasts. As I looked at my body’s ‘history’ and at the symptoms of Lupus, I saw that I have had many of the signs over the years, but so sporadically, over a long span, that they could not be tied together.

An Opportunity to Choose Peace

by Rev. Sharyn Zenz

imageOne evening as I was driving along I realized I had not eaten dinner and it was 7 o’clock already, so I drove through the drive-thru at Taco John’s. Since it was not the rush hour, my order was taken immediately. When I got up to the window to pay, the girl took my money and left. Usually they give you whatever drink you ordered while you wait for the food order, but she didn’t.

After waiting what seemed like a long time, I decided to go to Spirit. I heard the words, “Now you have a chance to practice patience my dear.” Then the thoughts came to me that, after all, my only purpose here is to heal, so now I get a chance to practice.

What Is a Pirate?

by Linda Cosentino

This is not an entity. This is not a real thing outside of you. This is a thought. This pirate is vicious and out to destroy our True Identity, if we let the thoughts control us.  This is our little self that thinks it is God.  It robs us of our treasures.

We are the treasures of God. We are created in the image (reflection in a mirror) and likeness (exact copy) of God, and we have all the attributes (distinguishing characteristics) of God. These attributes are Love, Peace, Joy and Happiness. Your ship is your vehicle to bring you back to God.  “Your ship has come in.”

God Is Famous too

by Rev. Georgeanne Medved

imageThrough television, radio, magazines and other media I learn about many famous people, even heroic people. Many of these people have great qualities that I would like to imitate. A Course in Miracles, however, teaches me that I should always imitate God and walk His path in Love.

My highest calling and largest struggle in life is to open to God’s insight with my attitudes and actions every day of my life. Unlike the famous, unapproachable people I learn about, God knows me and really desires to have a personal relationship with me. He is a merciful and loving Father Who knows all of my shortcomings but still accepts me as His Child.

A Holy Instant of Release

Rev. Linda Wisniewski

imageAs a passenger on a seven hour drive, I had a chance to be still and go within. All of a sudden I noticed a lot of sadness coming up. “What is this about?” I asked Holy Spirit. It was as if a lifetime of unfulfilled dreams and fantasies were being projected on a screen right before me.

In my younger years, I considered myself a “romantic” and my fantasy was to find the perfect man who would fulfill my every need.  I have been married twice and each partner could not be described as the “romantic” type.  My latest partner is teaching me that I don’t need him to fulfill my needs and expectations.  I need to learn to trust in my Self.

Our Experience with Weekend with Holy Spirit

by Revs. Robert & Mary Stoelting

imageWe recently experienced a weekend here at Pathways of Light called, Weekend with Holy Spirit.

As a group we made the commitment to give time to quieting our minds and listening to the Holy Spirit. We started the weekend focusing on a message from A Course in Miracles: “The Holy Spirit will, of Himself, fill every mind that so makes room for Him.” (T-14.XI.13:6)

The Mentor Within

by Rev. Mary Gerrard Lenihan, author of The Mentor Within

imageGod is a far-fetched idea to many; too hard of a concept to grasp – invisible, intangible. Because humans cannot often image God, we fail to be in a relationship with God. This is why depending on our self-made images is a tool the ego uses to maintain separation.

Christ is the true “nature” of God, the essence of God available to us all. Jesus played this out here on earth. He became an image of God by shattering all of our images. By overcoming the illusion of death he overcame the illusion of life on this earth. He resurrected our perception of God from one Who satisfies our earthly desires, judges and condemns, to one who simply loves by seeing the Innocence within.

The Spiritual Journey Is Here and Now

by Rev. Étienne Pait

imageOn my personal journey, in my own way, I asked Spirit to guide me to the next level of my spiritual awakening — to the next level of my spiritual awareness of remembering Who I am. In my asking, I had envisioned my own particular fantasies of how this spiritual journey would be and appear in this physical world of form.

For some reason, I thought I would either be touched by the “hand of God” or “Spirit would whisper in my ear” clearly leading me directly to the next level and fulfilling what I perceived to be in my best interest. In the back of my mind, when I was being honest with myself, I knew I was indicating to Spirit how this spiritual journey ought to unfold.

My teleconference Experience!

by Rev. Deborah Bolton

imageIt is true; circumstances continue to present themselves for further healing of my mind! When I trust that, I have had wonderful connections and experiences… Guess what! More comes! It is infinite, the power to grow and heal!

When I had a student approaching ordination, I felt a pull to join with her… however, the entire teleconference experience was not something I could fully embrace. I found myself finding many reasons to not include myself in the weekends it entailed. After all, Mother’s Day weekend (my favorite holiday), then again Memorial Day weekend? Six hours on the phone, two days in a row? The resistance was there, I felt it strong. How could this experience hold a candle to the Pathways/ Kiel experience?
