One busy morning in a rush to get chores out of the way, I spilled a box of packing peanuts on my patio. They were scattered out all over, and so went my mind, to numerous scatter thoughts of regret and of picking them up. I resigned myself to the task and soon relaxed and softened with a mind shift, opening to Holy Spirit’s message. With each single or handful I scooped, I thought, “I am Spirit. I am Love. All is well. We are one.” There was no struggle, the time flew, and I was finished with the pickup feeling soothed and uplifted.
I have since used this practice for other “Oh pooh!” Situations, like dumping a cup of pencils and markers, and in the garden pushing exposed pea seeds into the ground after a hard rain.
This morning I saw the pile of little pebbles from a bamboo planter I’d spilled and ignored the night before. (Have I ever been in denial about my mistakes before?) With a new attitude, I could hardly wait to hear what Holy Spirit would have me remember as I mind trained. “My heart holds loads of Love” was the reminder.
This practice reminds me that all my mistakes are just that and can be corrected with a mind shift. It’s a process of releasing judgment, and emptying my mind to receive messages of forgiveness and love.
