Relax and Row, Row Your Boat, Gently…

These are two suggestions that Robert and Mary seem to repeat often and every time they do, my Inner Guide says something like, ‘there it is again… just listen.’

This suggestion, after decades of study and practice of ACIM, reading anything else related I could get my hands on, a nearly graduate degree in Buddhist Philosophy and the rest… surely I should be closer to enlightenment now than when I started, as all of these things create a deeper and deeper perspective and wow, some amazing teachers, etc.

Rest in God

For five minutes every hour, lesson 109 instructs us to rest in the peace and stillness of God. Staying vigilant to the hourly practice is a feat for many of us, but a question that comes to my mind is how do I continue that rest throughout the other 55 minutes of the hour? After five minutes of resting in the peace and stillness of God, then what? When those five minutes pass, I find myself going back to the business of the world.

The One About the Good (?) Thief

I remember sitting at a coffee shop looking over some financial records thinking, “This cannot be happening to me.” And, “after all the help I have given this person, this is how he shows gratitude?” I thought I was going to vomit.

To Diet or Not to Diet. Is That the Question?

The Holy Spirit and I have made good use of this particular challenge. Here is an example of how this has worked for me. Why Do Some People Get Sick and Others Don’t

Lately I have wondered why some people get sick and others seem to live their lives free of disease. I noticed that it doesn’t seem to have anything to do with how spiritual they are or how nice they are or how good they are. It just seems to have no rhyme or reason. When I think that in order to heal my afflictions I must pray, reflect and change my thoughts, I get a little upset and ask myself, “Why do I have to be good when there are people who are really bad and they don’t seem to have any problems?”

Physical Miracles in Action

Part 1 — While all miracles are born from healing the ‘cause,’ which is our perception, they can extend to the level of ‘effect’ (form) as well. They can do so because both cause (mind) and effect (body and the world) remain together in our mind and cannot be separate. They can certainly appear to be separate, but only in our fear-based perception. Usually, though, we will not witness a miracle at the form level if we are still afraid of it.

Feeling Gateful Before Thanksgiving

Workbook lesson 12 says, I am upset because I see a meaningless world. I see a world where a life ends — and then ends up in a vacuum cleaner bag (a spider). And then ends up in that bag forever, at the dump. A glorious life, forever in a vacuum cleaner bag, at the dump. This can’t be real. That kind of stuff can only happen in dreams.

Sickness Becomes a Spiritual Adventure

I woke up early one November morning feeling very unwell. My head hurt, I was shaking and felt sick. I said nothing to my husband who brought me a cup of tea, as he has every day of our 20 year marriage, with just one exception when he was working abroad.
