The One About the Secret

It seems a constant flow of comments and insights this past year have been on the subject of “waking up.” I can almost dare you to go to an ACIM internet board or ACIM Facebook posting and not find that elusive goal discussed. “What is waking up? What does one need to do to get out of the dream?” And, if it’s so easy to do, “Why haven’t more people, even the supposedly spiritual giants done it?” If one does actually “wake up,” how would he know it? What changes? Who would you hang out with in the land of enlightenment? Do people actually “wake up” or is it just something to discuss with others as we live out our lives?

Healing Trust with Love

There was a time in my life that I could not trust anyone. I was so afraid to open up to people.
Through the Holy Spirit we can learn to trust in Him and through Him we learn to trust ourselves.

Living in fear is one of the greatest ploys the ego has to keep us locked into our need to be in control of the world we create. As long as we listen to the ego we will not be able to find the peace and joy that it takes to heal our ability to trust.

My Latest Teacher Is a Dog

When I get up this morning, our dog is whining in her crate in the dining room, a pan of rice is on the stove and there’s a note from my husband on the table. “Have taken Katy out 2X and fed her rice. Sorry to leave you the (poopy) mess on dog cushions, now in garage. Ran out of time.”

Sigh. The body’s senses report that our two-year-old rescue dog obviously had to go again after my husband left, which is why she’s standing up in her crate, whining and wagging her tail guiltily (my projection). I clean it up, pop the cushions in the washing machine and take her outside.

Forgiveness

Lesson 249 of A Course In Miracles says, “Forgiveness ends all suffering and loss.” This is true as spiritual destruction is the act of hanging on to grudges and old resentments. There is no spiritual release and relief until I release myself from the harmful, negative, get even and grudging feelings I harbor. There is also no way I can overemphasize the spiritual vulnerability that comes from hanging on to resentments. Resentment is my most perilous enemy.

What Lies Beyond

Who are we? At the surface we are a conglomeration of feelings, emotions, experiences and unexplainable coincidences. Day by day we move through a world rocketing back and forth between an assortment of thoughts and feelings. Fear and love; life and death; God and ego. Fear thoughts bring us to those places within us that say, “Stop — do not go any further!” These are instantaneous glimpses at the death of the ego. The ego shrouds this fact with a worldly fear of some kind, but when I take it to truth, it is revealed that a fear thought is nothing more than the ego’s survival mechanism — it says, “This is too scary for you. Only I know what’s best for you. I’ll take control here and tell you what to believe and keep you safe.”

Peanuts and Pushing Peas

One busy morning in a rush to get chores out of the way, I spilled a box of packing peanuts on my patio. They were scattered out all over, and so went my mind, to numerous scatter thoughts of regret and of picking them up. I resigned myself to the task and soon relaxed and softened with a mind shift, opening to Holy Spirit’s message. With each single or handful I scooped, I thought, “I am Spirit. I am Love. All is well. We are one.” There was no struggle, the time flew, and I was finished with the pickup feeling soothed and uplifted.

Applying the Rules for Decision

For the past five years, a water conditioning company has placed us in a collection agency trying to collect a fee from us for a service we haven’t used in the five years and which we have asked them to take back their equipment. Each time we get a notice from the collection agency, I initially panic and imagine myself being carted off to a prison or having my husband’s wages garnished. Oh what vain imaginings the ego constructs to keep us in fear and separation.

Healing Emotional or Physical Pain and Sickness

Excerpt from ‘The End of Death’

If we truly wish to help ourselves or another to heal from emotional or physical sickness, then it’s wise to look more carefully at our intent. The ego seeks to cure through fear, so as the underlying cause of all sickness (guilt), it is never found and addressed. If we have un-relinquished fear beneath our intent to heal, then we’ll inadvertently increase fear in ourselves and/or the one we’re attempting to help.

Good News! Pain Is Not Real!

Lesson 32: I Have Invented the World I See

I have done this lesson numerous times and tried to work with it as I understood it. Releasing my attitudes and opinions has been a constant practice, yet I still struggled with life-long challenges.

One morning as I awoke, I had a strange sensation and the small inner Voice said, “There is no difference between this dream and the one you had in sleep.” It indeed felt the same and I had a new awareness of Reality. I understood or I would venture to say I had a knowing that just as my nighttime dreams are created by my mind, so were my daytime experiences, which Spirit also called a dream.

Escaping the Clutches of Delusion — Fear, Pain or Scarcity

If you’ve been on this undoing path for a while, have you noticed that when you’re in ego, when you’re in the midst of fear, conflict or pain, there seems no way to relinquish it? The fear has induced temporary insanity. All you can see is suffering at that moment.

The ego invests all its persuasive strength in making sure you stay in this mindless state and at best, it will allow you to ‘problem solve’ through its means, within its closed-paradigm. But under no circumstances will it tolerate surrender to Love through forgiveness. The reason is that in the instant you surrender to Love, to God’s Peace, the ego ceases to exist in your awareness. And if we invite enough of these holy instants, the ego must disappear entirely.
