Bring Darkness to the Light

We live in a world of darkness, covered with clouds of fear, hate, anxiety, separation, defense and attack. These dark thoughts block the light from entering.

“You are the Kingdom of Heaven, but you have let the belief in darkness enter your mind and so you need a new light. The Holy Spirit is the radiance that you must let banish the idea of darkness.” (T-5.II.4:1-2)

It is impossible for us to reverse the darkness to the light by ourselves. It is only when we bring our illusions to the light that they disappear. For light automatically dispels darkness.

“He brings the light to darkness if you make the darkness open to Him.”  (T-14.VII.6:4)

The Holy Spirit will shift our perception from false ego thinking to true healing, and grant us instantaneous deliverance from the imprisoning problems of the world. All that is needed is for us to be vigilant for our thoughts without judgment, and give them to the Holy Spirit for healing. He will do His part if we do ours.

The Course reminds us that there is another way to look at every situation, and we can choose again for what we really want. In order to grow, we must be willing to experience our feelings of sin, guilt, fear and grievances. Our tendency is to project these guilty feelings out onto the world, so that we don’t have to experience the horror of our own perceived guilt.

“The Holy Spirit will help you reinterpret everything that you perceive as fearful, and teach you that only what is loving is true.” (T-5.IV.1:3)

When we begin to look at our life as a classroom in which our relationships are the curriculum, and the Holy Spirit is the teacher, we will experience our life from a much different perspective. Having the courage to notice the darkness that resides within and be willing to give it to the light of the Holy Spirit for healing is the only real way to experience the light from which we came.

The more we do this, the more we will experience the happy dream in our lives. The darkness will be lifted and the light of our true Self will come shining through. The world will slowly change from fear, separation and guilt… to a world of love, peace and happiness.
My personal experience:  As I go through my day, sometimes my mind can get sucked into darkness for no reason at all. I get trapped in a mad story… Putin, earthquakes, knife crime, cost of living increases.

So I’ve learned to step back from the world at regular intervals, breathe deep, quiet my mind, and connect to Holy Spirit… and I soon return to peace.

“Thus what you need are intervals each day in which the learning of the world becomes a transitory phase; a prison house from which you go into the sunlight and forget the darkness.” (W-184.10:1) 

Another experience: I have a person in my life who triggers me. He often accuses me of things I didn’t do, finds things wrong with me, and makes jokes about me that I don’t find funny. I can have grievances and judgments about him. So I asked Holy Spirit “How would you have me see him?” And this is what I received:

“He is a gift to you, to help you heal your mind. He is showing you places in your mind where there still lurks grievances and judgments, and gives you an opportunity to see them and give them to Me for healing. He is your angel, and you both go home together.”
