Course Koans — Lists to Heal Our Minds

The following are Lists from Chapter 4 of my little book, Course Koans. They can be used as great little lists we can post on our fridge or bathroom to reflect on. Enjoy!

What Is Fear?
1. Fear is untrue and does not exist (T-  1.VI.5)

2. Can be confused with ‘awe’ and must be understood before advancing to a direct approach to God, as the experience could be traumatic rather than beatific due to this confusion (T-1.VII.5)

3. The separation is also called the ‘detour into fear’ (T-2.1.2)

4. The basic misperception that you can usurp the power of God (T-2.1.4)

5. Miscreations that must be undone (T-2.III.2)

6. Right-mindedness (our alignment with Holy Spirit/Higher Self) turned upside down causing malfunctioning of miracle working inclinations (T-2.V.1.4)

7. Perception devoid of Holy Spirit (T-2.V.7.6)

8. Destructive acts that seem involuntary (T-2.VI.1)

9. Choosing wrongly (T-2.VI.3)

10. A sign of strain arising from what you want conflicting with what you do (T-2.VI.5)

11. A state produced by your mind when conflicted in what it wants (T-2.VI.6)

12. Lack of love (T-2.VI.7.6)

13. A need for a remedy (T-2.VI.8)

14. Something everyone experiences (T-2.VI.7.6)

15. Comes from thoughts of miscreation   (T-2.VII.3)

16. Nothing (T-2.VII.5.3)

17. Lack of being truly alive (T-2.VIII.5.4)

18. The ‘devil’ (T-3.VII.5.1)

19. Not authored by God (T-4.I.9.1)

20. Little scraps that prevent the Holy Spirit from entering (T-4.III.7.2)

21. Anything divisive (T-5.V.3.7)

22. Causeless (T-9.I.9.6)

23. Noncreative (T-9.I.13.5)

24. Anything perceived beyond yourself   (T-10.IN.1.1)

25. Cause of forgetting (T-10.II.1.4)

26. Lies in the minds of those unaware of reality (T-11.VIII.14.4)

27. It is an appeal for help (T-12.I.8.7)

28. Unloving and guilt (T-13.X.10.4)

How To Become Fearless
1. Be miracle-minded (T-1.I.26&28)

2. Replace your fearful thoughts with forgiveness (T-1.VI.4)

3. Use this world to help you correct your perceptions and know you cannot control the effects of fear alone (T-1.VI.4.1-2)

4. Submit your beliefs to this test:
  a.  Perfect love casts out fear.
  b. If fear exists, then there is not perfect love.
  But,
  c. Only perfect love exists.
  d. If there is fear, It produces a state that does not exist.
  e. Believe this and you will be free. (T-1.VI.5)

5. Accept the atonement (that we are not and never have been separate from God) enabling you to realize that your errors never really happened. This will help you awaken from a state of believing ‘light’ is fearful.  (T-2.I.4)

6. Bring the atonement to the center of the inner altar where it will undo the separation and restore wholeness to the mind, making you perfectly invulnerable (T-2.III.2)

7. Take care to not increase fear in anyone. (T-2.IV.4)

8. Express help in whatever way is most helpful to the receiver; in a language that the recipient can understand without fear.  (T-2.IV.5)

9. Hand it over to Holy Spirit, thus removing body thoughts from the level of the mind (T-2.VI.1) 

10. Be willing! Change your mind. (T-2.VI.3)

11. Ask not for help in removing the fear, but rather help in conditions that have brought the fear about and if this choice is in accord with Holy Spirit’s. (T-2.VI.4)
