Answering the Call to Joy

The Holy Spirit is the spirit of joy. ²He is the Call to return with which God blessed the minds of His separated Sons.

This Call [to joy] is so strong that the ego always dissolves at Its sound. …⁷The Holy Spirit is in you in a very literal sense. ⁸His is the Voice that calls you back to where you were before and will be again. ⁹It is possible even in this world to hear only that Voice and no other. ¹⁰It takes effort and great willingness to learn.

The Voice of the Holy Spirit does not command, because It is incapable of arrogance. ²It does not demand, because It does not seek control. ³It does not overcome, because It does not attack. ⁴It merely reminds. ⁵It is compelling only because of what It reminds you of. ⁶It brings to your mind the other way, remaining quiet even in the midst of the turmoil you may make. ⁷The Voice for God is always quiet, because It speaks of peace. ⁸Peace is stronger than war because it heals.

The Holy Spirit is your Guide in choosing. ²He is in the part of your mind that always speaks for the right choice, because He speaks for God. ³He is your remaining communication with God, which you can interrupt but cannot destroy.

We have the means to be joyous all the time. The Voice for God is calling us to joy in every moment. But we hear It only if we are willing to listen. The only interference with this willingness is our wish for specialness, to have more than everything. Since joy is an attribute of the Love that created us, It is everything. Only Love is real.

The ego is constantly defending specialness. All our judgments, our guilt, our fear of harm, are simply ego defenses against the joy that we share in the oneness of God’s Love. When we are willing to hear the Holy Spirit’s call to joy, He will teach us where to find it. He will offer correction of our misperceptions.

As we are willing to accept His corrections, the shadows of the ego’s call to death fade into the nothingness from which they came. We awaken to the truth that we are God’s Love, united, whole and at one with every brother.
