Forgiveness — the Path to Happiness

Only by fulfilling the function [to forgive] given you by God will you be happy. That is because your function is to be happy by using the means by which happiness becomes inevitable. There is no other way. Therefore, every time you choose whether or not to fulfill your function, you are really choosing whether or not to be happy.” (A Course in Miracles, W-pI.64.4)

We are happy only when we step back and allow the Holy Spirit’s perception of the world into our minds. As we continue the practice of opening to the Light within, the Holy Spirit, we are able to see past the world’s laments to the constant peace and Love that is our true Inheritance. We return to the truth that everyone remains safe in the Mind of God. We remember that we cannot harm or be harmed because we all share God’s invulnerability.

As we forgive the world for all we thought it was, our innate sense of happiness and joy returns. We accept and extend God’s peace and Love. As we remember our function, our sense of vulnerability and loss is replaced by a new purpose that is given us by God. As we forgive, our minds are returned to our innate happiness.
