Taking All Perception to Truth

Guilt asks for punishment, and its request is granted. Not in truth, but in the world of shadows and illusions built on sin. The Son of God perceived what he would see because perception is a wish fulfilled. Perception changes, made to take the place of changeless knowledge. Yet is truth unchanged. It cannot be perceived, but only known. What is perceived takes many forms, but none has meaning. Brought to truth, its senselessness is quite apparent. Kept apart from truth, it seems to have a meaning and be real.

Ideas leave not their source, and their effects but seem to be apart from them. Ideas are of the mind. What is projected out, and seems to be external to the mind, is not outside at all, but an effect of what is in, and has not left its source. (A Course in Miracles, T-26.VII.3:1-9;4:7-9)

We are responsible for everything we perceive because there is nothing external to the mind. The ego would use the fact that perception is a wish fulfilled as justification for guilt. It would claim that if we see death and destruction and it is coming from our minds, we must be guilty for all the pain and destruction we see. But the Holy Spirit knows that we can change our minds and thus these mistaken perceptions are correctable. We can let them go, and the Holy Spirit is in our minds to help us do just that.

Today our practice is to let ourselves be in peace and join with the Holy Spirit’s vision. With His vision, our perceptions are transformed so that we recognize the Love beyond all appearances. With His help, where there is an appearance of lack of Love, we will join with the Holy Spirit to extend Love. In this joining, we will more clearly recognize that the forms in themselves have no substance and can neither harm nor be harmed. With each recognition we take another step toward the full awareness that we remain in Heaven, at one with God’s Love.
