Being Under the Influence of Peace

Forget not that the motivation for this course is the attainment and the keeping of the state of peace. Given this state the mind is quiet, and the condition in which God is remembered is attained. It is not necessary to tell Him what to do. He will not fail. Where He can enter, there He is already. And can it be He cannot enter where He wills to be? Peace will be yours because it is His Will. Today we focus on giving peace a home in our mind… We are mindful of our level of inner peace… We let peace enter every corner of our mind… We let ourselves feel the gentleness and patience that reside in our peaceful state of mind… We open to the wisdom that is inherent in peace… We are willing to receive the inspiration that comes with our peaceful state of mind…

We allow ourselves to feel the happiness and joy that our inner peace brings… Within our inner peace is the knowing of safety and contentment… We know we are in the right place at the right time… We let our inner peace lead the way today… We let ourselves be under the influence of peace and we are filled with gratitude.

Gratitude for True Forgiveness

Forgiveness is the only thing that stands for truth in the illusions of the world. It sees their nothingness, and looks straight through the thousand forms in which they may appear. [Forgiveness] looks on lies, but it is not deceived. It does not heed the self-accusing shrieks of sinners mad with guilt. It looks on them with quiet eyes, and merely says to them, “My brother, what you think is not the truth.”

The strength of [true] pardon is its honesty, which is so uncorrupted that it sees illusions as illusions, not as truth. It is because of this that it becomes the undeceiver in the face of lies; the great restorer of the simple truth. By its ability to overlook what is not there, it opens up the way to truth, which has been blocked by dreams of guilt. Now are you free to follow in the way your true forgiveness opens up to you. This is our true path to awakening from the dream. As we learn and practice true forgiveness, we are lifted up past our barriers to Love and are able to see the truth beyond illusions. In truth everyone is eternally innocent. Loveless behavior comes only from forgetting our true Self. This true Self belongs to everyone. In truth we are joined in the one Mind of Love eternally.

We are so grateful to have found the path to true freedom for ourselves and every brother. Our joining with truth dissolves every barrier to the awareness of Love’s Presence. This is our practice for today.

God Is the Strength in Which We Trust

Do you really believe you can make a voice that can drown out God’s? Do you really believe you can devise a thought system that can separate you from Him? Do you really believe you can plan for your safety and joy better than He can? You need be neither careful nor careless; you need merely cast your cares upon Him because He careth for you. You are His care because He loves you. His Voice reminds you always that all hope is yours because of His care. You cannot choose to escape His care because that is not His Will, but you can choose to accept His care and use the infinite power of His care for all those He created by it. How different our life is when we choose to accept His care and use the infinite power of His care for all our brothers. Worry is replaced by joining with Holy Spirit, which becomes our top priority. Joined with Holy Spirit, inspiration in how to be truly helpful in every situation guides our way. This is our practice for today.

We Remain as Love Created Us

“Only acceptance can be asked of you, for what you are is certain.

“I will accept Atonement for myself,
For I remain as God created me.

We have not lost the knowledge that God gave to us when He created us like Him. We can remember it for everyone, for in creation are all minds as one. And in our memory is the recall how dear our brothers are to us in truth, how much a part of us is every mind, how faithful they have really been to us, and how our Father’s Love contains them all.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 139, W-pI.139.8:1;11:3-6. To accept the Atonement for ourselves means to accept correction of the mistaken belief that we have succeeded in separating from God’s Love. The “cost” of Atonement is giving up a false idea which could never be true. The return on this “payment” is the remembrance of the eternal, changeless, limitless Love of God as ours. Never was so much gained for so little.

What makes this not only possible but inevitable is that God’s Love is already given us. We’ve never been without God’s Love. We’ve only been unaware of this Gift because of a mistaken belief in a false idea that could never be true. The benefit of accepting the Atonement is priceless and the cost is willingness to give up nothing — a mistaken idea that is just an illusion.

The Course offers us help to recognize that the false idea of being separate offers us nothing we want. As we learn to recognize there is no value in the world, nothing we really want, we become willing to accept the Atonement for ourselves.

We dedicate this day to letting the Holy Spirit teach us to recognize the valueless illusions of the world for what they are. Thus we become willing to accept the limitless value of God’s gift of eternal Love. We accept that we remain as God created us.

Our Only Problem Is Belief in Separation

The problem of separation, which is really the only problem, has already been solved. Yet the solution is not recognized because the problem is not recognized.

Everyone in this world seems to have his own special problems. Yet they are all the same, and must be recognized as one if the one solution that solves them all is to be accepted.

All this complexity is but a desperate attempt not to recognize the problem, and therefore not to let it be resolved. If you could recognize that your only problem is separation, no matter what form it takes, you could accept the answer because you would see its relevance. Perceiving the underlying constancy in all the problems that seem to confront you, you would understand that you have the means to solve them all. And you would use the means, because you recognize the problem. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 79, W-pI.79.1:4-2:2;6:1-4. See also ACIM Lesson 79 Insights.)

As we remember that we are safe eternally in the Mind of God, the problems of this world fade into the background. We are able to feel Love’s Presence and are drawn to extend Love to everyone in this world. We see innocence where we once saw guilt. We see past the shadows of separation to the Light of Love’s oneness. We feel calm and safe, no matter what problem appears to show up in the moment. We stick close to our connection with our inner Guide, Who helps us remember the truth of What we are and Where we are.

The problems may still appear to be there, but we see them differently. We know that the Holy Spirit will walk with us through every perceived problem. We place our trust in the Holy Spirit to be our problem solver, not the ego mind.

We are filled with a sense of gratitude, as we are willing to repeatedly let go of the only real problem, which is our belief in separation. As we increase our habit of always going to the Holy Spirit, we remember to laugh instead of taking this world of separation so seriously. We are lifted up to see the Love That is eternally true.

Giving the World a Healing Purpose

This world will bind your feet and tie your hands and kill your body only if you think that it was made to crucify God’s Son. For even though it was a dream of death, you need not let it stand for this to you. Let this be changed, and [everything] in the world …must be changed as well. For [everything here] is defined as what you see it for.

How lovely is the world whose purpose is forgiveness of God’s Son! How free from fear, how filled with blessing and with happiness! And what a joyous thing it is to dwell a little while in such a happy place! Nor can it be forgot, in such a world, it is a little while till timelessness comes quietly to take the place of time. Every day and every moment we choose the purpose we give the world. We are always free to change our purpose for the world. If we choose to align with the ego thought system of separation, the purpose we give the world is to make loss and death appear real. But if we choose to align with the Holy Spirit, the purpose we give the world is to forgive all our mistaken beliefs and false images.

Each time we let go of a false belief we open the door to the flow of Love, which has been closed by judgment and denial. The eternal, changeless Love of God is ever present. Our practice now is to use the world for the purpose of healing through forgiveness of the dream that could never be true. This is how we make way for the changeless flow eternal Love. This is how we give the world a healing purpose.

God Sees That You Remain Perfect in Him Eternally

This is the Judgment that will set him free. This is the Judgment in which all things are freed with him. Time pauses as eternity comes near, and silence lies across the world that everyone may hear this Judgment of the Son of God:

Holy are you, eternal, free and whole, at peace forever in the Heart of God. Where is the world, and where is sorrow now? (A Course in Miracles, M-15.1:8-12)

Today let us celebrate the fact that we cannot change our true Identity as God created us. Today we open our minds to accept the truth about ourselves, along with every brother. Accepting this truth sets us free to be the Love we were created to be.
