The Blessing of Placing the Future in the Hands of God.

What worry can beset the one who gives his future to the loving Hands of God? What can he suffer? What can cause him pain, or bring experience of loss to him? What can he fear? And what can he regard except with love? For he who has escaped all fear of future pain has found his way to present peace, and certainty of care the world can never threaten. He is sure that his perception may be faulty, but will never lack correction. He is free to choose again when he has been deceived; to change his mind when he has made mistakes.

Place, then, your future in the Hands of God. For thus you call the memory of Him to come again, replacing all your thoughts of sin and evil with the truth of love. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 194, W-pI.194.7:1-8:2. See also ACIM Lesson 194 Insights.)

Think of how you would feel if you knew that every moment is held for you in perfect, changeless Love and protected by the greatest strength there is.… Think how peaceful you would feel, how filled with joy.… Think how your heart would overflow with Love and extend the Love to all the world.… Think how you would feel as that Love rebounds back to you, multiplied a thousand fold and yet a thousand more.…

This in fact is our reality. We need only be willing to set aside our past and accept the gift our Creator has already given us without end. This is our natural state. We are not aware of it because, by aligning with the ego, we are actively denying it.

But we can change our allegiance. As we move toward letting the Holy Spirit guide all our thoughts, we take giant strides toward experiencing God’s initial, changeless, endless gift of all of Himself — His Love, His strength, His joy, His peace.

Today we dedicate to turning over all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit as we place the future in the Hands of God.

Sharing One Identity

…what you need are intervals each day in which the learning of the world becomes a transitory phase; a prison house from which you go into the sunlight and forget the darkness. Here you understand the Word, the Name which God has given you; the one Identity which all things share; the one acknowledgment of what is true. And then step back to darkness, not because you think it real, but only to proclaim its unreality in terms which still have meaning in the world that darkness rules.

Use all the little names and symbols which delineate the world of darkness. Yet accept them not as your reality. The Holy Spirit uses all of them, but He does not forget creation has one Name, one meaning, and a single Source which unifies all things within Itself. Use all the names the world bestows on them but for convenience, yet do not forget they share the Name of God along with you.” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 184, W-pI.184.10-11. The truth is we share one Identity — the Identity of perfect, universal Love. In this world it appears that this is not so, but now we are willing to remember the truth. We open our minds to accept that we all are still as God created us, whole, perfect and complete in God’s one universal Mind of Love.

As we open our minds to the truth, we become aware and feel God’s peace and happiness. We remember there is nothing to fear and that we are safe, no matter what appearances show up in the dream of separate identities. Today we practice remembering we share one Identity with God, universal Love.

Remembering Our Source of Real Life

The Thought of God created you. It left you not, nor have you ever been apart from it an instant. It belongs to you. By it you live. It is your Source of life, holding you one with It, and everything is one with you because It left you not. The Thought of God protects you, cares for you, makes soft your resting place and smooth your way, lighting your mind with happiness and love. Eternity and everlasting life shines in your mind, because the Thought of God has left you not, and still abides with you. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 165, W-pI.165.2. It is helpful for us to remember that when we have thoughts of depression, limitation, sickness and death, we are obscuring the perfect happiness and eternal life our Father wills for us. Every fear, every apprehension, every condemnation of a brother, hides the truth from our awareness.

We have developed habits of thought that give the experience of limitation and lack, differences and death. We are now in the process of remembering the truth. We are now reinforcing the habit of consistently returning to peace when we recognize we are not in peace. We are now reinforcing the habit of letting the Holy Spirit guide our thoughts back to the Light of Truth. What can be more important than this? We let this be our top priority today.

Accepting Freedom Through the Holy Instant

Start now to practice your little part in separating out the holy instant. You will receive very specific instructions as you go along. To learn to separate out this single second, and to experience it as timeless, is to begin to experience yourself as not separate. Fear not that you will not be given help in this. God’s Teacher and His lesson will support your strength. It is only your weakness that will depart from you in this practice, for it is the practice of the power of God in you. Use it but for one instant, and you will never deny it again. Who can deny the Presence of what the universe bows to, in appreciation and gladness? Before the recognition of the universe that witnesses to It, your doubts must disappear. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.II.6. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The central purpose of A Course in Miracles is to help us experience the holy instant — the moment in time when the past is forgot and the Holy present is accepted. We have taught ourselves that illusions are true and truth is illusion, leaving us confused.

But we have a Guide to lead us safely and lovingly out of the maze the ego has made. We cannot find the way out alone. But as we practice offering all our thoughts to the Holy Spirit for His translation into truth, we rise above the maze and find our way out.

We learn to recognize that no matter what appearances we may perceive in the world, we remain Love as Love created us. We rest in the peace of God. We rejoice in the gift of God’s joy. This is the gift the holy instant brings us, needing only our acceptance to be free.

Giving and Receiving the Gift of Forgiveness

Each unforgiving mind presents you with an opportunity to teach your own how to forgive itself. Each one awaits release from hell through you, and turns to you imploringly for Heaven here and now. It has no hope, but you become its hope. And as its hope, do you become your own. The unforgiving mind must learn through your forgiveness that it has been saved from hell. And as you teach salvation, you will learn. Yet all your teaching and your learning will be not of you, but of the Teacher Who was given you to show the way to you. Today we practice seeing past the body to the face of Christ in every brother. This is seeing the innocence, the pure Light of Love, in every brother. This practice reminds us of the Light of Love in ourselves. As we do this, we bless each brother and we are blessed. We heal and we are healed. Everyone needs to know they are loved and that, in truth, they are a loving child of God. Today practice, with Holy Spirit, rising above to see the Love that is everywhere to behold.

The Decision to Serve Holy Spirit

The mind that serves the Holy Spirit is unlimited forever, in all ways, beyond the laws of time and space, unbound by any preconceptions, and with strength and power to do whatever it is asked. Attack thoughts cannot enter such a mind, because it has been given to the Source of love, and fear can never enter in a mind that has attached itself to love. It rests in God. And who can be afraid who lives in Innocence, and only loves?

And God Himself extends His Love and happiness each time you say:

I am not a body. I am free. I hear the Voice that God has given me, and it is only this my mind obeys. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 199, W-pI.199.2;8:6-9. See also ACIM Lesson 199 Insights.)

The choice to serve only the Holy Spirit is the greatest gift we can give ourselves and all the world. With this decision we rest in God’s perfect peace. We are certain of God’s Love and know It is our own. In this certainty, we are free from fear. We experience God’s joy, which is beyond comprehension in this world. We know God’s strength is our own and feel perfectly safe.

This choice is a gift beyond measure. The seeming values of the world fade into the nothingness from which they came as we hold our focus on serving the Holy Spirit’s purpose. Today we joyously dedicate to following Holy Spirit’s lead and serving His purpose.

Remembering the Holy Spirit Is Always with Us

Your Friend goes with you. You are not alone. No one who calls on Him can call in vain. Whatever troubles you, be certain that He has the answer, and will gladly give it to you, if you simply turn to Him and ask it of Him. He will not withhold all answers that you need for anything that seems to trouble you. He knows the way to solve all problems, and resolve all doubts. His certainty is yours. Today we would remember that our Friend, the Holy Spirit, is always with us in our mind, waiting to help us with every problem we think we have. Today we would remember we are not alone and friendless. Today we would allow our inner Comforter to lift us out of our confused thinking by shining His Light on our perceptions. Today we are willing to let go of what we learned in the past and be lifted above our illusions to remember the truth. Today we let Love’s happiness fill our mind with peace and a sense of well being that comes with remembering the truth of our one Identity in God.
