Learning to See Love Everywhere

Father, we are like You. No cruelty abides in us, for there is none in You. Your peace is ours. And we bless the world with what we have received from You alone. We choose again, and make our choice for all our brothers, knowing they are one with us. We bring them Your salvation as we have received it now. And we give thanks for them who render us complete. In them we see Your glory, and in them we find our peace. Holy are we because Your Holiness has set us free. And we give thanks. Amen. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 170, W-pI.170.13. Our true Self knows that It is Love and nothing else. Knowing that only Love is real, It knows that nothing exists outside of Love. Thus our true Self cannot conceive of fear or attack or defense. It knows that there is nothing to attack nor defend against. Harm is inconceivable to our one Self, the Self we share with everyone.

Whenever we experience a disturbance of our peace, it is a sign that we are mistakenly identifying with a false image of what we are. This recognition is an opportunity to choose again. It is an opportunity to ask the Holy Spirit for help to see past the false image to the certainty and safety of the changeless Love we are. It is this practice that will set us free from fear. It is this practice that will free our minds from identifying with an image that could never be real.

Today we choose the Holy Spirit’s gift of vision that we may be free to see Love everywhere

Remembering Who We Are

My thoughts are images that I have made. Whatever I see reflects my thoughts. It is my thoughts that tell me where I am and what I am. The fact that I see a world in which there is suffering and loss and death shows me that I am seeing only the representation of my insane thoughts, and am not allowing my real thoughts to cast their beneficent light on what I see. Yet God’s way is sure. The images I have made cannot prevail against Him because it is not my will that they do so. My will is His, and I will place no other gods before Him. The world we experience identified with the body is filled with uncertainty. Things we thought we could count on to protect us or make us happy can suddenly disappear, be destroyed or even turn against us. This is because all the things in this world are illusions and, by definition, changeable.

This world is not our home. We are not trapped in a fearful and loveless world. Within our minds is the truth of What we are — changeless Love and nothing else. It is our will to be Love and extend Love. It is this Will we share with God. Accepting this Will in place of the wish to be separate is the way to experience perfect peace, joy beyond words and the comfort of limitless Love.

This is accessible to each of us now. We have within our minds the memory of our true Will. And we have the Voice of Love calling to us in each moment to remind us of What we are and Where we are in truth. As we open our minds to receive this Voice, we are compassionately led to see past the appearances of the world and see the Love behind the clouds of illusions. Today we welcome that Love and share It with every brother, for that is how we remember Who we are.

God’s Strength Goes with Us Everywhere

Deep within you is everything that is perfect, ready to radiate through you and out into the world. It will cure all sorrow and pain and fear and loss because it will heal the mind that thought these things were real, and suffered out of its allegiance to them.

You can never be deprived of your perfect holiness because its Source goes with you wherever you go. You can never suffer because the Source of all joy goes with you wherever you go. You can never be alone because the Source of all life goes with you wherever you go. Nothing can destroy your peace of mind because God goes with you wherever you go. When there seems to be too many things to do, too many decisions to make, too much to organize, my mind seems to go into overwhelm and then “lock down” mode. It seems that withdrawal is the best protection. This is a typical ego solution to a perceived problem. Being the idea of separation, it believes further separation is a solution.

Thankfully, there is a better way. It calls for the opposite response. Instead of withdrawing, we need to open our minds and hearts to the peace of God that goes with us wherever we go. God’s wisdom goes with us wherever we go. His Love and strength go with us wherever we go.

When we reconnect with God and remember He is always with us, we recognize our unity with All That Is. Withdrawal and isolation are replaced with joining and the recognition that our mighty Companion is present now and always. We can relax in the certainty of His loving guidance and His care. His vision shows us the changelessness beyond the appearance of chaos. We can let fear thoughts pass by with gentle laughter as we remember God goes with us wherever we go.

God’s Will Is Our Will

Who uses but Christ’s vision finds a peace so deep and quiet, undisturbable and wholly changeless, that the world contains no counterpart. Comparisons are still before this peace. And all the world departs in silence as this peace envelops it, and gently carries it to truth, no more to be the home of fear. For love has come, and healed the world by giving it Christ’s peace.

Father, the peace of Christ is given us, because it is Your Will that we be saved. Help us today but to accept Your gift, and judge it not. For it has come to us to save us from our judgment on ourselves. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 305, W-pII.305. See also ACIM Lesson 305 Insights.)

Incomparable peace… a sense of safety… compassion that extends Love eternally… these are what we experience when we let Christ’s vision guide all our seeing. Loss is inconceivable. Judgment is unthinkable and nothing is seen as external to our holy Mind, unified in the Mind of Love.

All this is ours already. We reclaim them and leave the shadows of the mind of separation as we accept that God’s Will is our will because we remain one with Him as we were created. Today we accept God’s happiness as we remember His Will and ours are one and the same.

We Give Our Life to God to Guide Today

Father, I give You all my thoughts today. I would have none of mine. In place of them, give me Your Own. I give You all my acts as well, that I may do Your Will instead of seeking goals which cannot be obtained, and wasting time in vain imaginings. Today I come to You. I will step back and merely follow You. Be You the Guide, and I the follower who questions not the wisdom of the Infinite, nor Love whose tenderness I cannot comprehend, but which is yet Your perfect gift to me.

Today we have one Guide to lead us on. And as we walk together, we will give this day to Him with no reserve at all. This is His day. And so it is a day of countless gifts and mercies unto us. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 233, W-pII.233. See also ACIM Lesson 233 Insights.)

The ego is a control freak. It is dedicated to wresting control from our Creator and making a world that will keep God out. Its strategy is to flood our thoughts with images of judgment, fear and guilt. It seems we must be constantly building walls to protect ourselves from immediate or future danger. Our preoccupation with defense makes the Thoughts of Love we share with God unwelcome. We have given our “life” to the ego whose final wish is our death as proof of its successful plan to make a world it controls.

It is time to give our thoughts to God today. He will guide us to remember that all we really want is God’s gifts of perfect peace, limitless Love and joy beyond this world. As we step back and follow we will remember Love whose tenderness we cannot comprehend. This is our practice for today.

Remembering We Are at Home in Love

Be very still an instant. Come without all thought of what you ever learned before, and put aside all images you made. The old will fall away before the new without your opposition or intent.

Forgive your brother all appearances, which are but ancient lessons that you taught yourself about the sinfulness in you. Hear but his call for mercy and release from all the fearful images he holds of what he is and of what you must be. …The journey’s goal… is but to decide to walk with him, so neither leads nor follows. Thus it is a way you go together, not alone. And in this choice is learning’s outcome changed, for Christ has been reborn to both of you. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.II.8:1-3;9:1-2,5-7. A very important lesson to learn is that what we believe about a brother is what we believe about ourselves. If we believe another can harm us in any way, we believe we can harm. This can only be a false image because Love created us as Love and Love cannot harm.

Thus if we perceive attack from another, we must let the Holy Spirit’s vision show us what is true beyond the appearance. Only Love is true and It cannot attack. And so the appearance of attack is a false image. If we feel threatened by perceived attack, we are believing in a false image of ourselves that we believe can be harmed. This is our own call for Love.

In that moment it is time to be still with willingness to set aside our beliefs about our brother and ourself. Thus do we open to the vision of Christ to show us the truth beyond appearances. With the vision of Christ as our Guide, we are led to respond with Love in a form that is truly helpful for both our brother and ourself. This is the path that will lead us Home to the full remembrance that we are at Home in Love.

There Is Nothing to Fear. Love is here.

In this world, as you open to the Light in you, It is used to communicate Truth by joining with the Light in your brothers, and used to make a unified vision possible that perception be corrected and brought close to knowledge. God is the Light in which you see. Without the Light of God within you, you would not see. Your present way of seeing is through the body’s eyes. Seeing through the eyes of an image you have made to take the place of the Self God created, is not seeing, it is but imagination. You are literally seeing what is not really there. There is no difference between hallucinations and the way you see now. The seeming stability and continuance of the world you see prevents you from seeing it as the projected illusion it is.

To see beyond the illusions of perception in which you are trapped, help is needed from beyond the illusion. The Holy Spirit sees truly. He is not fooled by appearances, by form, for He sees beyond the form to content. He responds only to content, not form, for He recognizes form as illusion and always will. He looks past what is meaningless in itself, and the vision He gives you allows you to look past the form and see what it conceals. (From the Christ Mind Book II, pages 244,245)

There is nothing to fear; only Love is here. We think we see a world of form through the body’s eyes. But what we are really seeing are self-made images that hide the eternal presence of Love. Only our belief in images stands in the way of our experience of the certainty of changeless Love. But beliefs can and do change. We have all experienced the changeability of belief. We can change our mind in an instant.

This ability can be used on behalf of our healing and awakening. But our choice for what to believe must be guided by Truth instead of the denial of Truth, the ego. All we really want is to know that we are loved and to be happy. The practice of taking all decisions to the Holy Spirit with willingness to follow His guidance is the path to freedom. His guidance will always lead us to remembering that only Love is real. There is nothing to fear. Love is here.
