Letting the Thought of Love Be Our Guide

I am affected only by my thoughts.

It needs but this to let salvation come to all the world. For in this single thought is everyone released at last from fear. Now has he learned that no one frightens him, and nothing can endanger him. He has no enemies, and he is safe from all external things. His thoughts can frighten him, but since these thoughts belong to him alone, he has the power to change them and exchange each fear thought for a happy thought of love. He crucified himself. Yet God has planned that His beloved Son will be redeemed.

Your plan is sure, my Father,—only Yours. All other plans will fail. And I will have thoughts that will frighten me, until I learn that You have given me the only Thought that leads me to salvation. Mine alone will fail, and lead me nowhere. But the Thought You gave me promises to lead me home, because it holds Your promise to Your Son. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 338, W-pII.338. Love does not condemn because It knows only Its unity with Love everywhere. Nothing but Love exists. Dreams of lovelessness, guilt, fear and hate have no effect on the universal reality of Love. Our thoughts are based on our choice between accepting the Reality of Love or accepting the ego’s denial of Love.

This is our own choice. No one can make it for us. When we see a world of fear and conflict and react with fear, we have chosen the ego’s thoughts. We are not the ego. It is inevitable that identifying with the ego will show us danger, loss, lack of Love, weakness and unhappiness. We do not have to claim these thoughts as our own. We can choose the Thought of Love God gave us when He created us one with Him as an extension of Himself. Love is our only real Thought, which we share with God.

We choose the Thought of Love when we are willing to forgive the belief in being separate and alone. When we choose Love as our Guide, we are led to be truly helpful. When we see a brother acting out of his belief in lack of Love, the Thought of Love will guide us to recognize his call for Love and answer it in a form that helps him heal his mistaken belief. Love will always lead to reduce fear and guilt. 

Today we choose the Thought of Love as our Guide. It will reveal to us what to think, say and do to bring Love to the world.
