Undoing the Dream of Lovelessness

I see all things as I would have them be.

Perception follows judgment. Having judged, we therefore see what we would look upon. For sight can merely serve to offer us what we would have. It is impossible to overlook what we would see, and fail to see what we have chosen to behold. How surely, therefore, must the real world come to greet the holy sight of any­one who takes the Holy Spirit’s purpose as his goal for seeing. And he cannot fail to look upon what Christ would have him see, and share Christ’s Love for what he looks upon.

I have no purpose for today except to look upon a liberated world, set free from all the judgments I have made. Father, this is Your Will for me today, and therefore it must be my goal as well. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 312, W-pII.312. See also ACIM Lesson 312 Insights.)

The choice to believe we are a body is the choice to see a loveless world where attack, loss, loneliness, destruction and death are perceived as real. It seems amazing that we would make this choice. Why would we choose to die? Why would we choose loneliness, depression, guilt and fear? It stems from the wish for special love, to have part of God’s Love for ourself alone. But because God’s Love is one, this could never be possible in truth.

Having sided with the wish for specialness, we have chosen to dream of a world which satisfies our wish. We have condemned ourselves to a life of searching and not finding Love, our true Self. This dream is made of perceptions projected by the ego thought system that offers empty substitutes for the Love we have hidden beneath the veil of projections.

The means to pass by the seemingly endless cycle of seeking and not finding is to forgive the wish for special Love. This wish is reflected back to us in our perceptions of the world. Every perception offers us an opportunity to forgive the belief behind the false perception.

To do this we need the help of the Holy Spirit. He recognizes our misperceptions but does not believe them. From His foundation in God’s Love, He offers us a vision to correct our misperceptions. We forgive by accepting His correction.

Today we commit to asking for the Holy Spirit’s vision and accepting it to bring healing to our mind. It is a practice that will undo the dream of a loveless world and return us to our Home in Heaven.
