We Live Eternally in the Mind of God

I walk with God in perfect holiness.

Today’s idea but states the simple truth that makes the thought of sin impossible. It promises there is no cause for guilt, and being causeless it does not exist. It follows surely from the basic thought so often mentioned in the text; ideas leave not their source. If this be true, how can you be apart from God? How could you walk the world alone and separate from your Source?

You cannot walk the world apart from God, because you could not be without Him. He is what your life is. Where you are He is. There is one life. That life you share with Him. Nothing can be apart from Him and live.

Yet where He is, there must be holiness as well as life. No attribute of His remains unshared by everything that lives. What lives is holy as Himself, because what shares His life is part of Holiness…” (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 156, W-pI.156.1;2:4-3:3. See also ACIM Lesson 156 Insights.)

The Course is trying to teach us that our true Self is innocent and the self we think we are does not exist at all. To the part of our mind identified with the ego, this seems ludicrous. We carry a constant burden of guilt that we try to easy by projecting it on the world. But this attitude is just the ego’s smokescreen to hide the truth from our awareness.

The Holy Spirit was given us in our mind to help us recognize that we are not the ego and that it has no power to change what God created Holy. It is only our belief in it that keeps the ego with its burden of guilt hanging out in our mind. As we let the Light of the Holy Spirit shine into the part of our mind that believes in the ego, the illusionary clouds of guilt are dispelled.

With Christ’s vision we see past the ego’s false images of separation. We accept the fact that we, along with every brother, walk with God in perfect holiness. We awaken to our true Self, living eternally in the Mind of God.
