Releasing the Power of Love

As the ego would limit your perception of your brothers to the body, so would the Holy Spirit release your vision and let you see the Great Rays shining from them, so unlimited that they reach to God. It is this shift [from perception] to vision that is accomplished in the holy instant.

In the holy instant, where the Great Rays replace the body in awareness, the recognition of relationships without limits is given you. But in order to see this, it is necessary to give up every use the ego has for the body, and to accept the fact that the ego has no purpose you would share with it. For the ego would limit everyone to a body for its own purposes, and while you think [the body] has a purpose, you will choose to utilize the means by which [the ego] tries to turn its purpose into accomplishment.

It is impossible to divide your strength between Heaven and hell, God and the ego, and release your power to creation [extension of Love], which is the only purpose for which power was given you. Love would always give increase. Limits are demanded by the ego, and represent its demands to make little and ineffectual. Limit your sight of a brother to his body, which you will do as long as you would not release him from it, and you have denied his gift [of Love] to you. His body cannot give it. And seek it not through yours. Yet your minds are already continuous, and their union need only be accepted and the loneliness in Heaven is gone.

If you would but let the Holy Spirit tell you of the Love of God for you, and the need your creations have to be with you forever, you would experience the attraction of the eternal. (A Course in Miracles, T-15.IX.1:1-2;3:1-3;4:1-5:1. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

The Holy Spirit’s sole purpose is to teach us to see the Light of Love instead of perceiving the ego’s images of separation. When we accept the ego’s purpose, the body is used to make separation seem real. Vision does not seem to be an option because the ego uses everything to limit awareness of the truth that we remain Love as Love created us.

To free ourselves from this limited perspective, we need to accept the Holy Spirit’s help. As we practice asking for Holy Spirit’s translation of our perceptions into His vision, we open our minds to the holy instant. In this instant, we experience the unity of Love and the free communication of Love flowing to Love. Love eternally extends to Itself. This is how it creates.

While we still believe the ego offers us something we want the holy instant, brought to us by the Holy Spirit, gives us the miracle experience of Love’s blessing. This blessing is beyond what the ego can offer. It teaches us that we find the Love we seek only with the Holy Spirit’s help. The more we accept these holy instants, the more we recognize the ego offers nothing we really want. When we accept this completely, we want only to see the Love that is our brother and ourselves, unified in God’s Love.
