Accepting Holy Spirit’s Happy Dream

Salvation is a paradox indeed! What could it be except a happy dream? It asks you but that you forgive all things that no one ever did; to overlook what is not there, and not to look upon the unreal as reality. You are but asked to let your Will [God’s Will] be done, and seek no longer for the things you do not want. And you are asked to let yourself be free of all the dreams of what you never were, and seek no more to substitute the strength of idle wishes for the Will of God.

Be glad indeed salvation asks so little, not so much. It asks for nothing in reality. And even in illusions it but asks forgiveness be the substitute for fear. Such is the only rule for happy dreams. (A Course in Miracles, T-30.IV.7,8:4-7. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

The justification for forgiveness is the recognition that the harm we thought we experienced never really happened. To come to this recognition, we need Help — the Holy Spirit, the Voice for God. Reminding ourselves that what we experience is an illusion can be a helpful start. But unless we fully recognize that nothing really did happen, affirming that it is an illusion can be a denial of an unconscious belief that separation is real.

It is this false belief that separation is real that needs to be corrected with the help of Holy Spirit. It cannot be corrected from within the belief system of being a separate identity in a world of form. The practice of bringing all our upsets, our guilt, our sense of lack and loss, to the Holy Spirit, with willingness to receive His gentle correction, is how we learn to recognize illusions for what they are — nothing. 

Today we choose to let Holy Spirit be our Guide in all our doing so that we may learn to recognize illusion for what it is and accept the happy dream.
