Accepting the Holy Spirit’s Purpose for the Body

There is nothing outside you. That is what you must ultimately learn, for it is the realization that the Kingdom of Heaven is restored to you. For God created only this, and He did not depart from it nor leave it separate from Himself. The Kingdom of Heaven is the dwelling place of the Son of God, who left not his Father and dwells not apart from Him. Heaven is not a place nor a condition. It is merely an awareness of perfect Oneness, and the knowledge that there is nothing else; nothing outside this Oneness, and nothing else within.

What could God give but knowledge of Himself? What else is there to give? The belief that you could give and get something else, something outside yourself, has cost you the awareness of Heaven and of your Identity. (A Course in Miracles, T-18.VI.1;2:1-3. See also ACIM Text Q & A.)

When we identify with the body as what we are, we lose awareness of the truth of what Love created us to be. Love is one and cannot be limited or separated in any way and still remain Itself. The body was made by the ego to give the appearance that we are separate identities, and thus different from each other and from the oneness of Love.

But the Holy Spirit can use the body for a different purpose — to teach us that the world of forms is a fantasy which could never be true. The Holy Spirit is ever present in our mind to remind us that we remain Love as Love created us, one with all that is real.

Because we remain Love, we can never be guilty of causing any true harm, because Love cannot harm. Belief that we can harm and be guilty for the harm we have done is an idea the Holy Spirit will teach us is false. We learn this by bringing all our thoughts of fear and guilt to the Holy Spirit with an open mind willing to be shown the Holy Spirit’s vision of truth. This is the practice of forgiveness. It is how we remember that we remain in Heaven, where we were created to be.
