Accepting the Light of Truth Within

…while the body stands at the center of your concept of yourself, you are attacking God’s plan for salvation, and holding your grievances against Him and His creation, that you may not hear the Voice of truth and welcome It as Friend.

The light of truth is in us, where it was placed by God. It is the body that is outside us, and is not our concern. To be without a body is to be in our natural state. To recognize the light of truth in us is to recognize ourselves as we are. To see our Self as separate from the body is to end the attack on God’s plan for salvation, and to accept it instead. And wherever His plan is accepted, it is accomplished already.

We are no longer asking the ego what salvation is and where to find it. We are asking it of truth. Be certain, then, that the answer will be true because of Whom you ask. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 72, W-pI.72.7:4;9;11:5-7. See also ACIM Lesson 72 Insights.)

Being the denial of Truth, the ego is incapable of leading us to Truth. When we identify with the body as what we are, we are identifying with the ego and thus denying Truth. We are accepting the body’s limitations as our own, making it impossible to hear the Voice of Truth.

But there is a way to hear the Voice of Truth. As we are willing to step back from identifying with the body as what we are, we release the Self from the illusion of limitation. We open the door to the recognition that we are not a body. We are free. We are still as God created Us. The acceptance of this fact is our salvation from the limitations of the ego.

We move toward this release by being willing to quiet our minds and welcome the Light of Truth which is within us. Peace and understanding are always found together. In peace the Voice of Truth is heard. In peace we can receive Christ’s vision, which looks beyond the body to the Light of Love that is God’s Creation.

Today we practice stepping back from bodily identification and welcoming the peace within. In this peace we will have the vision that shows us the one Self we share with all our brothers. With this vision we are freed.
