Accepting We Are Worthy of God’s Gifts

…joy and peace are not but idle dreams. They are your right, because of what you are. They come to you from God, Who cannot fail to give you what He wills.

His are the gifts that are our own in truth. …And we need not wait to have them. They belong to us today.

Therefore, we choose to have them now, and know, in choosing them in place of what we made, we but unite our will with what God wills, and recognize the same as being one.…

I seek but what belongs to me in truth,
And joy and peace are my inheritance.

When we are engaged with the world, joy and peace seem to be something to hope for and only temporarily attained. We seem to be constantly bombarded with thoughts, images and events that disturb our peace. Things and situations that seem to make us happy don’t last in the world. This is the inevitable perception that comes with accepting the ego as our identity. We have accepted an alien will that denies God’s Will for us.

But God has not changed His Mind about His Son, our true Self. Our true Self already has everything that God Is, in accordance with His Will. If we do not experience His perfect peace and eternal joy, then we must be denying His Will for us. It is this denial that must be forgiven.

One of the ego’s defenses against forgiveness is to tell us we are not worthy of God’s gifts. Yet if His joy and peace are His Will for us, we must be worthy. The ego is lying to us.

The affirmation in this lesson is a reminder of what is true. It is the foundation that justifies true forgiveness leading to release of the mistaken belief that separation is real. We let go of thinking specialness will make us happy and accept our inheritance of God’s peace and joy. This forgiveness clears the way to awaken to our eternal Home in God.
