There Is Nothing to Fear in Love’s Presence

Appearances deceive, but can be changed. Reality is changeless. It does not deceive at all, and if you fail to see beyond appearances you are deceived. …Reality is changeless. It is this that makes it real, and keeps it separate from all appearances. It must transcend all form to be itself. It cannot change.

What is temptation but a wish to make illusions real? …Temptation, then, is nothing more than this; a prayer the miracle touch not some dreams, but keep their unreality obscure and give to them reality instead.

There is no miracle you cannot have when you desire healing. But there is no miracle that can be given you unless you want it. Choose what you would heal, and He Who gives all miracles has not been given freedom to bestow His gifts upon God’s Son.

Because reality is changeless is a miracle already there to heal all things that change, and offer them to you to see in happy form, devoid of fear.

Be not made guilty and afraid when you are tempted by a dream of what [your brother] is. But do not give it power to replace the changeless in him in your sight of him. There is no false appearance but will fade, if you request a miracle instead. There is no pain from which he is not free, if you would have him be but what he is. Reality is Love because only Love is real. Love has no form and therefore cannot be perceived when we believe appearances are real. When we believe a brother is a body and we are a body, we are blind to the presence of changeless Love. Without awareness of Love, fear is inevitable.

We perceive based on what we believe we are. Appearances fade from view as we accept the Holy Spirit’s lessons which teach us that we are Love and nothing else — our changeless Reality. We welcome the miracle of a changed of mind when we welcome the Holy Spirit’s lesson that shows us the presence of Love beyond the appearances of the world.

There is nothing to fear in Love’s presence. Only the joy that comes as we welcome our unity with our brothers at Home together in God. This is our eternal Reality. As the images of the world no longer deceive us, we see past them. We experience Love’s blessing as we bring Love to the world.

Today we welcome the Holy Spirit’s lessons in Love, for we would remember we are God’s Son in Whom He is well pleased.

Freedom Through Forgiveness

Your Son is free, my Father. Let me not imagine I have bound him with the laws I made to rule the body. He is not subject to any laws I made by which I try to make the body more secure. He is not changed by what is changeable. He is not slave to any laws of time. He is as You created him, because he knows no law except the law of love.

“=Let us not worship idols, nor believe in any law idolatry would make to hide the freedom of the Son of God. He is not bound except by his beliefs. Yet what he is, is far beyond his faith in slavery or freedom. He is free because he is his Father’s Son. And he cannot be bound unless God’s truth can lie, and God can will that He deceive Himself. The body is an idol made by the ego as a substitute for God’s Son. When we believe we are a body, bound by its limits, are are worshipping an idol. Our belief in this idol makes it seem that we are bound by the ego’s laws for what the body is — a separate identity, limited in space by its reach and in time to change until it ultimately dies.

But our true Self is the Son of God. It lives forever in the changeless Love of God. This is our Reality. All we need do is stop believing we are a limited being, separate from our Source. Forgiveness is the means to release our self-imposed limitations is to let the Holy Spirit help us let go of our mistaken beliefs. As we turn to Him to receive His vision in place of our perceptions, we awaken to the peace and joy of our home in Love. Holy Spirit, help me see with Your vision.

Claiming the Comfort of God’s Love

You always choose between your weakness and the strength of Christ in you. And what you choose is what you think is real. Simply by never using weakness to direct your actions, you have given it no power. And the light of Christ in you is given charge of everything you do. For you have brought your weakness unto Him, and He has given you His strength instead.

Trials are but lessons that you failed to learn presented once again, so where you made a faulty choice before you now can make a better one, and thus escape all pain that what you chose before has brought to you. In every difficulty, all distress, and each perplexity Christ calls to you and gently says, “My brother, choose again.” He would not leave one source of pain unhealed, nor any image left to veil the truth. He would remove all misery from you whom God created altar unto joy. He would not leave you comfortless, alone in dreams of hell, but would release your mind from everything that hides His face from you. His Holiness is yours because He is the only power that is real in you. His strength is yours because He is the Self that God created as His only Son.

Be never fearful of temptation, then, but see it as it is; another chance to choose again, and let Christ’s strength prevail in every circumstance and every place you raised an image of yourself before. (A Course in Miracles, T-31.VIII.2:3-3:7;4:2. See also ACIM Text Made Simple.)

When we choose the ego as our guide, we choose weakness. The ego denies the Love of God, which is the only Power. The only power the ego seems to have is what we give it by choosing it as our leader. We can choose differently.

Despite our allegiance to the ego’s denial of God, the Holy Spirit remains ever present in our mind. We withdraw power from the ego, which has none of its own, when we choose to follow the Holy Spirit. This choice to let the Holy Spirit guide is available to us in every moment.

If we are tempted to perceive threat, loss, sickness or death as real, we can call upon the Holy Spirit for help. He is ever present in our mind to bring us the comfort of God’s Love. His Light dispels the ego’s denials. His vision shows us our invulnerability, the Love we are and the joy that is inherent in the Life we live in God. The Holy Spirit has infinite patience because He knows that we are God’s Son eternally. He knows we cannot fail to find our way Home and remember the Love we are.

Today, for every apprehension, sadness or perception of harm, we choose the Holy Spirit as our Guide to help us remember we are eternally safe in the Love of God.

We Are Loved Without Limit

Father, I must return Your Love for me, for giving and receiving are the same, and You have given all Your Love to me. I must return [Your Love], for I want it mine in full awareness, blazing in my mind and keeping it within its kindly light, inviolate, beloved, with fear behind and only peace ahead. How still the way Your loving Son is led along to You!

Brother, we find that stillness now. The way is open. Now we follow it in peace together. You have reached your hand to me, and I will never leave you. We are one, and it is but this oneness that we seek, as we accomplish these few final steps which end a journey that was not begun. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 225, W-pII.225. If we want to feel and know God’s Love for us, we have to relinquish all our judgments. Love and judgment cannot coexist. Judgment is only conceivable where separation is believed real. But this belief denies Love’s oneness.

We welcome God’s Love in our mind by letting go of judgment. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to decide all things on our behalf. His judgments are based on the simple fact that only Love is real. Anything other than Love is not real and therefore is nothing. Any perception of separation is a denial of Love.

When we let the Holy Spirit judge on our behalf, our perceptions are purified and the Light of Love is welcome. We join with Jesus on this journey, recognizing He is one with us in God’s Love. We are safe, innocent and loved without limit.

How to Have a Happy Journey to Peace

Before you make any decisions for yourself, remember that you have decided against your function in Heaven, and then consider carefully whether you want to make decisions here. Your function here is only to decide against deciding what you want, in recognition that you do not know. How, then, can you decide what you should do? Leave all decisions to the One Who speaks for God, and for your function as He knows it. So will He teach you to remove the awful burden you have laid upon yourself by loving not the Son of God, and trying to teach him guilt instead of love.

When you have learned how to decide with God, all decisions become as easy and as right as breathing. There is no effort, and you will be led as gently as if you were being carried down a quiet path in summer. Only your own volition seems to make deciding hard. The Holy Spirit will not delay in answering your every question what to do. He knows. And He will tell you, and then do it for you.

God can communicate only to the Holy Spirit in your mind, because only He shares the knowledge of what you are with God. And only the Holy Spirit can answer God for you, for only He knows what God is. Everything else that you have placed within your mind cannot exist, for what is not in communication with the Mind of God has never been. Communication with God is life. Nothing without it is at all. The ego is arrogant. It is the belief that it can successfully make a world that excludes God. When we believe we are a body, an image made by the ego, we are participating in the ego’s arrogance. As the source of all problems, the ego tells us it knows how to solve problems. But the source of a problem by definition does not know how to solve it. As long as we participate in this charade, we will experience a constant stream of problems made to “prove” the ego has successfully denied God.

The way out of this conundrum is to humbly accept that we do not know how to solve any problem as long as we identify with the ego. The Holy Spirit, Who has not been hoodwinked by the ego, knows the solution to every perceived problem we experience. We access His solutions by first acknowledging that we do not know what to say, do or think. Then we open to the Holy Spirit’s inspiration by letting ourselves relax and welcome God’s peace.

When we keep an open mind, the Holy Spirit will inspire us with a solution in which everyone is blessed. The form the inspiration takes will be given us in a way that we can understand and accept. It may be simply a change in our perception that helps us to see it differently and recognize the presence of Love. Or we may be inspired to say or do something that helps extend Love into the situation. It may even be inspiration that helps us fix a machine or a computer. The solution always leads to increased peace of mind. It is always in some way truly helpful.

Let us join together today in letting the Holy Spirit guide all our decisions. It will be a happy journey toward peace.

Freeing Ourselves from Imprisoning Beliefs

Freedom is the only gift you can offer to God’s Sons, being an acknowledgment of what they are and what He is. Freedom is creation, because it is love. Whom you seek to imprison you do not love. Therefore, when you seek to imprison anyone, including yourself, you do not love him and you cannot identify with him. When you imprison yourself you are losing sight of your true identification with me and with the Father. Your identification is with the Father and with the Son. It cannot be with One and not the Other. If you are part of One you must be part of the Other, because They are One. The Holy Trinity is holy because It is One. If you exclude yourself from this union, you are perceiving the Holy Trinity as separated. You must be included in It, because [the Holy Trinity] is everything. (A Course in Miracles, T-8.IV.8:1-11. The body is a limit the ego imposes on the Son of God. To perceive ourselves or others as a body is to imprison God’s Son. As is repeated many times in the Course, we are not a body. God created His Son as spirit, eternally one with Him. The truth of What we are is His Son, eternally one with Him.

His Son cannot be divided in multiple, separate parts. It is this fact that keeps us free to be the Love God created His Son to be. We free ourselves from limitation by identifying with the unlimited Spirit we are. We do this by forgiving — letting go of — our belief that forms are real. The world we perceive is a world of forms, thus it cannot be real.

To heal our mistaken belief in the reality of the world, we need the help of the Holy Spirit. He is the Translator Who can use our perceptions as teaching aids to help us learn that forms have no substance. Under His tutelage we learn to see beyond the forms to the Light of Love that unites us with our brothers and God. We are one Self united with our Creator; there is no distance between us.

Today we practice opening our mind to the Holy Spirit’s vision to see our oneness with All That is. This practice leads to the peace of God.

Bringing Healing to Our Unforgiving Mind

Each unforgiving mind presents you with an opportunity to teach your own how to forgive itself. Each one awaits release from hell through you, and turns to you imploringly for Heaven here and now.

The unforgiving mind does not believe that giving and receiv­ing are the same. Yet we will try to learn today that they are one through practicing forgiveness toward one whom you think of as an enemy, and one whom you consider as a friend. And as you learn to see them both as one, we will extend the lesson to yourself, and see that their escape included yours.

Do not forget, throughout the day, the role forgiveness plays in bringing happiness to every unforgiving mind, with yours among them. Every hour tell yourself:

Forgiveness is the key to happiness. I will awaken from the dream that I am mortal, fallible and full of sin, and know I am the perfect Son of God. (A Course in Miracles Workbook Lesson 121, W-pI.121.7:1-2;9;13:4-7. See also ACIM Lesson 121 Insights.)

The perception of differences is a key tool in the ego’s bag of tricks to convince us that separation is real. Anger at what we perceive someone did seems different from disappointment that someone missed a scheduled meeting. But this range of perception depends on belief in differences which is belief in separation. This belief makes one offense seem more difficult to forgive than another.

We are being taught that the foundation of all differences is the belief in separation. Without this mistaken belief, the world and all of its images fade from sight. Christ’s vision supersedes all the differences the body’s eyes see. The oneness of Love shines away the shadows of separation. We recognize every brother as one with us in Love as we awaken to our Home in God.

Today we remind ourselves to forgive each perception that disturbs our peace and remember we are joined with every brother in the oneness of God’s Son.
