Being a Healing Answer in the World

⁶You who have taught yourself the Son of God is guilty, say not that you cannot learn the simple things salvation teaches you!

The lessons to be learned are only two. ²Each has its outcome in a different world. ³And each world follows surely from its source. ⁴The certain outcome of the lesson that God’s Son is guilty is the world you see. ⁵It is a world of terror and despair. ⁶Nor is there hope of happiness in it. ⁷There is no plan for safety you can make that ever will succeed. ⁸There is no joy that you can seek for here and hope to find. ⁹Yet this is not the only outcome which your learning can produce. ¹⁰However much you may have overlearned your chosen task, the lesson that reflects the Love of God is stronger still. ¹¹And you will learn God’s Son is innocent, and see another world.

The outcome of the lesson that God’s Son is guiltless is a world in which there is no fear, and everything is lit with hope and sparkles with a gentle friendliness. ²Nothing but calls to you in soft appeal to be your friend, and let it join with you.… ⁶You had been deceived by forms the call [for Love] was hidden in. ⁷And so you did not hear it, and had lost a friend who always wanted to be part of you. ⁸The soft eternal calling of each part of God’s creation to the whole is heard throughout the world this second lesson brings. All the turmoil we see today represents calls for Love. If we judge them, we mistake the calls for Love as justification for fear, hate and guilt. These judgments are our own calls for Love, for Love would not judge. Love always answers calls for Love with Love.

This response is our calling in the world. To answer calls for Love with Love, we must let go of our judgments. Forgiveness is the key to peace.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us recognize calls for Love. We choose to join with Him in Love to be the answer that brings healing to the world. Thus will we fulfill our true function in the world.

Becoming a Blessing to the World

Forgiveness is my function as the light of the world.

²It is through accepting my function that I will see the light in me. ³And in this light will my function stand clear and perfectly unambiguous before my sight. ⁴My acceptance does not depend on my recognizing what my function is, for I do not yet understand forgiveness. ⁵Yet I will trust that, in the light, I will see it as it is.

Specific forms for using this idea might include:

²Let this help me learn what forgiveness means.
³Let me not separate my function from my will.
⁴I will not use this for an alien purpose. (A Course in Miracles, W-81.3–4. See also ACIM Lesson 81 Insights.)

True forgiveness recognizes that nothing has happened to change God’s Son, our true Self. Nothing we see in the world can teach us forgiveness at this level. We need the help of our inner Teacher to help us see past the images of the world. God did not create images. His Creation is all of His Love extended forever.

Our judgments hide the presence of Love from our awareness. We ask the Holy Spirit to help us let go of the judgments that hide Love’s presence from our awareness. As we are willing to step back from our judgments, we make way for the Light of Love to show us Love’s presence beyond appearances. With this vision, we bring Light to the world. We extend God’s Love without interference. We become a blessing to the world.

Learning We Never Left Our Home in Love

²What God did not create does not exist. ³And everything that does exist exists as He created it. ⁴The world you see has nothing to do with reality. ⁵It is of your own making, and it does not exist.

[“God did not create a meaningless world”] is another step in learning to let go the thoughts that you have written on the world, and see the Word of God in their place.… ⁶Our direction is toward perfect safety and perfect peace.

With eyes closed, think of all the horrors in the world that cross your mind. ²Name each one as it occurs to you, and then deny its reality. ³God did not create it, and so it is not real. ⁴Say, for example:

⁵God did not create that war, and so it is not real.
⁶God did not create that airplane crash, and so it is not real.
⁷God did not create that disaster [specify], and so it is not real.

Suitable subjects for the application of today’s idea also include anything you are afraid might happen to you, or to anyone about whom you are concerned. (A Course in Miracles, W-14.1:2-5;3:1,6;4:1–5:1. See also ACIM Lesson 14 Insights.)

This lesson is introducing a process that will help us heal all our fears and guilt. It leads to perfect safety and perfect peace. Fear and guilt can only occur when we believe illusions of separation are real. In truth there is no “other” to battle against. There is no harm that is real in God’s Universe. And God’s Universe is our Home.

This is a complete reversal of what we have thought is real in the world. We are not asked to accept this reversal in one day of practice. We have spent eons of reinforcing our mistaken beliefs. Fortunately undoing these heavily reinforced errors does not take eons to correct.

As we apply these lessons to specific beliefs, we begin to recognize there is a common core belief that underlies them all. We learn that, in fact, we have never separated from the Love of our Source. We remain Love and nothing else. When this is fully accepted, we awaken from the dream and recognize we never left Home, like in the story, “The Wizard of Oz.”

The Choice for Joy

Vision will come to you at first in glimpses, but they will be enough to show you what is given you who see your brother sinless. ²Truth is restored to you through your desire, as it was lost to you through your desire for something else. ³Open the holy place that you closed off by valuing the “something else,” and what was never lost will quietly return. ⁴It has been saved for you. ⁵Vision would not be necessary had judgment not been made. ⁶Desire now [judgment’s] whole undoing, and it is done for you.

Do you not want to know your own Identity? ²Would you not happily exchange your doubts for certainty? ³Would you not willingly be free of misery, and learn again of joy? ⁴Your holy relationship offers all this to you.… ¹⁰Vision is freely given to those who ask to see.

Your brother’s sinlessness is given you in shining light, to look on with the Holy Spirit’s vision and to rejoice in along with Him. ²For peace will come to all who ask for it with real desire and sincerity of purpose, shared with the Holy Spirit and at one with Him on what salvation is. ³Be willing, then, to see your brother sinless, that Christ may rise before your vision and give you joy. ⁴And place no value on your brother’s body, which holds him to illusions of what he is. Our salvation is found when we see our brother as an equal in the oneness of God’s Son. We see our brother truly when we forgive our illusions of being separate individuals in separate bodies. Without the idea of individuality and differences, there is nothing left to judge. The cloud of judgment is dispelled and the Light of Love joins us together in Its oneness.

This is the gift the Holy Spirit’s vision offers us. The choice to accept His vision is the choice for peace of mind, unlimited joy and the certainty of our eternal unity with our Creator. Today we ask the Holy Spirit to help us see, with His vision, our Reality in Love.

Seeing Love’s Blessings with Christ’s Vision

The Holy Spirit looks through me today.

Christ asks that He may use my eyes today, and thus redeem the world. ²He asks this gift that He may offer peace of mind to me, and take away all terror and all pain. ³And as they are removed from me, the dreams that seemed to settle on the world are gone. ⁴Redemption must be one. ⁵As I am saved, the world is saved with me. ⁶For all of us must be redeemed together. ⁷Fear appears in many different forms, but love is one.

My Father, Christ has asked a gift of me, and one I give that it be given me. ²Help me to use the eyes of Christ today, and thus allow the Holy Spirit’s Love to bless all things which I may look upon, that His forgiving Love may rest on me. Peace of mind comes with acceptance of God’s Love. If we do not experience His Love, it is because we have accepted interference with awareness of Love’s presence.

Christ’s vision is offered us that we may see the presence of Love beyond the interference. His vision shows us that the interference of fear and hate are based on illusions, which are not real.

As we accept Christ’s vision, illusions are dispelled. We see a forgiven world where Love has replaced the interference that seemed to disturb our peace. In gratitude we accept Christ’s gift and welcome the peace that comes with accepting the Love that has always been ours.

Letting Our Love Shine

My mind is preoccupied with past thoughts.

This idea is, of course, the reason why you see only the past. ²No one really sees anything. ³He sees only his thoughts projected outward. ⁴The mind’s preoccupation with the past is the cause of the misconception about time from which your seeing suffers. ⁵Your [ego] mind cannot grasp the present, which is the only time there is. ⁶It therefore cannot understand time, and cannot, in fact, understand anything.

The one wholly true thought one can hold about the past is that it is not here. ²To think about it at all is therefore to think about illusions. ³Very few have realized what is actually entailed in picturing the past or in anticipating the future. ⁴The mind is actually blank when it does this, because it is not really thinking about anything.

The purpose of the exercises for today is to begin to train your mind to recognize when it is not really thinking at all. ²While thoughtless ideas preoccupy your mind, the truth is blocked. ³Recognizing that your mind has been merely blank, rather than believing that it is filled with real ideas, is the first step to opening the way to vision. It is helpful to recognize that what we perceive with the body is a projection. We see what confirms our beliefs about what we are. The purpose of projection is to make it appear to be happening to us instead of coming from our own mind.

This self deception makes it seem that our thoughts are based on reality. But they are really based on our thoughts about the past. These thoughts all stem from the belief that we have successfully made ourselves separate individuals. That belief is repeated over and over, in different forms. This deception is reinforced by perceiving an external world with forms we think we had nothing to do with making.

Now we are being asked to open our mind to the possibility that our thoughts are based on illusions; thus they are not really thoughts at all. Our only real thoughts are the thoughts we share with God. God’s Thoughts are always extensions of His Love. They create Reality in the present moment.

Today we practice observing our thoughts. We ask ourselves, “Are these thoughts expressions of Love? Or are these thoughts judgments based on a belief in differences?” We ask Holy Spirit to help us forgive our judgments and let the Love we are shine through.

Letting Christ’s Vision Lead Us Home

am at home [in Love]. Fear is the stranger here.

Fear is a stranger to the ways of love. ²Identify with fear, and you will be a stranger to yourself. ³And thus you are unknown to you. ⁴What is your Self remains an alien to the part of you which thinks that it is real, but different from yourself. ⁵Who could be sane in such a circumstance? ⁶Who but a madman could believe he is what he is not, and judge against himself?

Today we offer thanks that Christ has come to search the world for what belongs to Him. ²His vision sees no strangers [fear], but beholds His Own and joyously unites with them. ³They see Him as a stranger, for they do not recognize themselves. ⁴Yet as they give Him welcome, they remember. ⁵And He leads them gently home again, where they belong. We are at home in Love because Love created us united with Itself. Fear can only occur if we believe illusions of separation are real. Bodies are symbols of fear because they represent the vulnerability that comes with belief that separation is real.

Christ is us is the Love we are. It sees only Love. Love always joins with Love, for that is Its nature. As we welcome Christ in our mind, we receive His vision of Love. Christ’s vision shows us the Love that is every brother. It sees no cause for fear or hate.

Today we ask for Christ’s vision in our mind to help us recognize the truth in every brother. In this recognition we learn we are all Love and nothing else.
