The Gift That Comes as Illusions Are Let Go

I can give up but what was never real.

I sacrifice illusions; nothing more. ²And as illusions go I find the gifts illusions tried to hide, awaiting me in shining welcome, and in readiness to give God’s ancient messages to me. ³His memory abides in every gift that I receive of Him. ⁴And every dream serves only to conceal the Self which is God’s only Son, the likeness of Himself, the Holy One Who still abides in Him forever, as He still abides in me.

Father, to You all sacrifice remains forever inconceivable. ²And so I cannot sacrifice except in dreams. ³As You created me, I can give up nothing You gave me. ⁴What You did not give has no reality. ⁵What loss can I anticipate except the loss of fear, and the return of love into my mind? Fear and guilt only occur when illusions are believed to be real. Illusions hide the Love we are, and in which we live, from our awareness. Our only problem is that we don’t recognize illusions for what they are.

But we have been given an inner Teacher to help us learn to recognize illusions as illusions. Forgiveness is the means through which we see past illusions to the truth. As we accept the Holy Spirit’s help, we learn to let go of our mistaken beliefs that keep the dream in place.

We call upon His help by seeking the peace of God within. Peace is ever present. As we pause and quiet our mind, we welcome the Holy Spirit’s vision, which shows us that we remain safe in God’s Love. There is indeed nothing to fear, for we live in Love. As we let Love guide our thoughts, words and actions, we become His messengers. We are healed as we let Him teach us to heal.

Walking with God in Peace and Gratitude

In peace I was created. ²And in peace do I remain. ³It is not given me to change my Self. ⁴How merciful is God my Father, that when He created me He gave me peace forever. ⁵Now I ask but to be what I am. ⁶And can this be denied me, when it is forever true?

Father, I seek the peace You gave as mine in my creation. ²What was given then must be here now, for my creation was apart from time, and still remains beyond all change. ³The peace in which Your Son was born into Your Mind is shining there unchanged. ⁴I am as You created me. ⁵I need but call on You to find the peace You gave. ⁶It is Your Will that gave it to Your Son. We cannot change our true Identity. This is the guarantee that peace of mind is available to us in every now moment. Only our belief in illusions of the past can disturb our peace. Because they are not real, these memories of a past can be dispelled when we are willing to accept the Holy Spirit’s true perception of reality in place of our misperceptions.

We welcome His reinterpretations by being willing to accept the peace of God within us. It is always there to be called upon. Our call for peace expresses our willingness to let our mind be healed.

We walk with God today in peace and gratitude.

Accepting All of God’s Love

God has condemned me not. No more do I.

My Father knows my holiness. ²Shall I deny His knowledge, and believe in what His knowledge makes impossible? ³Shall I accept as true what He proclaims as false? ⁴Or shall I take His Word for what I am, since He is my Creator, and the One Who knows the true condition of His Son?

Father, I was mistaken in myself, because I failed to realize the Source from which I came. ²I have not left that Source to enter in a body and to die. ³My holiness remains a part of me, as I am part of You. ⁴And my mistakes about myself are dreams. ⁵I let them go today. ⁶And I stand ready to receive Your Word alone for what I really am. How long are we willing to accept sadness, loss, pain and guilt as an inevitable part of our existence? This is not what the Love of God created. It is a dream which denies His Love. But we can awaken from this miserable dream by accepting His gift of all His Love. In this acceptance, we hear His Voice tell us that we share our Father’s holiness. All that He is we are, for we were created as an extension of Himself.

We are ready, today, to accept His help to awaken from this dream to join Him in the oneness of His Love. In this joining, we remember our innocence and see our brothers’ true innocence along with our own. We dismiss any thought of condemnation as we remember the truth that we are Love and nothing else.

Extending Love’s Blessing to the World

God is my Father, and He loves His Son.

My true Identity is so secure, so lofty, sinless, glorious and great, wholly beneficent and free from guilt, that Heaven looks to It to give it light. ²It lights the world as well. ³It is the gift my Father gave to me; the one as well I give the world. ⁴There is no gift but this that can be either given or received. ⁵This is reality, and only this. ⁶This is illusion’s end. ⁷It is the truth.

My Name, O Father, still is known to You. ²I have forgotten It, and do not know where I am going, who I am, or what it is I do. ³Remind me, Father, now, for I am weary of the world I see. ⁴Reveal what You would have me see instead. (A Course in Miracles, W-224. See also ACIM Lesson 224 Insights.)

Only Love can ever be given or received. If we perceive we are given or give anything else, it is not real and can have no effect on our Identity. If we pause and rest in this recognition, we can feel the blessing God gives His Son eternally. We are blessed with His glory and His peace, His joy and everlasting Love.

When we rest in His peace, we rest in Love, our true Identity. We carry this thought with us today as we look upon the world presented in our dream. Our true Identity can only give the world Love and sees Love everywhere. We are blessed as we extend Love’s blessing. This is our only function.

Becoming Aware of Our Home in Heaven

God is my life. I have no life but His.

I was mistaken when I thought I lived apart from God, a separate entity that moved in isolation, unattached, and housed within a body. ²Now I know my life is God’s, I have no other home, and I do not exist apart from Him. ³He has no Thoughts that are not part of me, and I have none but those which are of Him.

Our Father, let us see the face of Christ instead of our mistakes. ²For we who are Your holy Son are sinless. ³We would look upon our sinlessness, for guilt proclaims that we are not Your Son. ⁴And we would not forget You longer. ⁵We are lonely here, and long for Heaven, where we are at home. ⁶Today we would return. ⁷Our Name is Yours, and we acknowledge that we are Your Son. The dream we seem to live in is not real. Every dream is characteristically unaware of anything outside the dream. Anything beyond the dream is unknown and we are naturally afraid of it. This lesson is helping us to consider that there is something beyond our awareness in the dream that has greater than anything we can conceive of within the dream.

The Course is teaching us that there is nothing of value in the dream of space, time and separate bodies. This idea alone would be frightening. But we are being shown that beyond this dream world is everything we really want.

Acceptance of it will reward us with deep peace, unlimited joy and eternal extension of Love’s oneness. As we learn to accept the one Life with share with God, the dream is dispelled and we become aware of our Home in Heaven.

Awakening from the Dream of Fear

³There is no relationship between what is real and what you think is real. ⁴Nothing that you think are your real thoughts resemble your real thoughts in any respect. ⁵Nothing that you think you see bears any resemblance to what vision will show you.

You think with the Mind of God. ²Therefore you share your thoughts with Him, as He shares His with you. ³They are the same thoughts, because they are thought by the same Mind. ⁴To share is to make alike, or to make one. ⁵Nor do the thoughts you think with the Mind of God leave your mind, because thoughts do not leave their source. ⁶Therefore, your thoughts are in the Mind of God, as you are. ⁷They are in your mind as well, where He is. ⁸As you are part of His Mind, so are your thoughts part of His Mind.

⁵We will not let the beliefs of the world tell us that what God would have us do is impossible. ⁶Instead, we will try to recognize that only what God would have us do is possible.

…tell yourself gently:

⁴My real thoughts are in my mind. ⁵I would like to find them.

⁶Then try to go past all the unreal thoughts that cover the truth in your mind, and reach to the eternal.

In the dream, we believe in a mistaken separate identity. The thoughts of which we are aware stem from this mistaken identity. Our existence in the dream is not real. But like every dream, we are not aware of anything beyond the limits of the dream. We need help to see beyond the dream’s limitations.

Today’s exercise will help us open our mind to the truth beyond the dream. We are Love and nothing else, as God Is. We remain safe in His Love, and share His Thoughts of Love. As we let our minds receive the Thoughts we share with God, we let His Love guide our thoughts away from fear and back to the Thoughts of Love we share with God.

With this practice we will become aware of the Love we are and see that Love in everyone. The realization that Love is the only reality will return us to our Home in the Heaven of Love.

Welcoming the Happy Present

My present happiness is all I see.

Unless I look upon what is not there, my present happiness is all I see. ²Eyes that begin to open see at last. ³And I would have Christ’s vision come to me this very day. ⁴What I perceive without God’s Own Correction for the sight I made is frightening and painful to behold. ⁵Yet I would not allow my mind to be deceived by the belief the dream I made is real an instant longer. ⁶This the day I seek my present happiness, and look on nothing else except the thing I seek.

With this resolve I come to You, and ask Your strength to hold me up today, while I but seek to do Your Will. ²You cannot fail to hear me, Father. ³What I ask have You already given me. ⁴And I am sure that I will see my happiness today. When we let Love direct our seeing, we see only happiness. Joy is an attribute of Love, and Love sees only Itself everywhere. We were created by Love as Love. We are innately joyous.

If we are not joyous, we are letting the ego’s denial of Love cloud our vision. This need not be. God offers us all His strength and His Love to support our seeing. We need only accept His help to let our innate joy shine forth. This happiness is always present and cannot be seen while we cover the present with memories of the past.

Today we accept the Holy Spirit’s help to overlook the past and welcome the happy present.
