Choosing the Guide to Love

We have seen that there are only two parts of your mind. One is ruled by the ego, and is made up of illusions. The other is the home of the Holy Spirit, where truth abides. There are no other guides but these to choose between, and no other outcomes possible as a result of your choice but the fear that the ego always engenders, and the love that the Holy Spirit always offers to replace it. In every moment we are choosing between the guide to fear and the Guide to Love. The guide to fear uses judgment and guilt to keep fear in place. But when we choose the Guide to Love, which never condemns, only innocence is seen. We recognize that only Love is ever truly present. Anything that seems to contradict the oneness of Love is a false image that could never be true. Whenever we feel alone, unhappy, depressed, guilty or fearful, we have chosen the guide that leads us only into illusions.

Thankfully we have another Guide we can choose, Who leads us steadily toward the truth that we remain Love as Love created us. Whenever we feel less than perfectly happy and at peace, we have chosen the wrong guide. But we can choose differently and let the Holy Spirit replace our mistaken ideas and misperceptions with the truth. As we do this, we learn to look past the appearances of the world and use our inner vision to see the Light of Love everywhere. This is our practice for today.
