Accepting the Holiness of Our True Self

²From my holiness does the perception of the real world come. ³Having forgiven, I no longer see myself as guilty. ⁴I can accept the innocence that is the truth about me. ⁵Seen through understanding eyes, the holiness of the world is all I see, for I can picture only the thoughts I hold about myself.

²The perception of my holiness does not bless me alone. ³Everyone and everything I see in its light shares in the joy it brings to me. ⁴There is nothing that is apart from this joy, because there is nothing that does not share my holiness.

²My holiness is unlimited in its power to heal, because it is unlimited in its power to save. ³What is there to be saved from except illusions? ⁴And what are all illusions except false ideas about myself?

³I am blessed as a Son of God. ⁴All good things are mine, because God intended them for me. ⁵I cannot suffer any loss or deprivation or pain because of Who I am. ⁶My Father supports me, protects me, and directs me in all things. ⁷His care for me is infinite, and is with me forever. ⁸I am eternally blessed as His Son. The self we believe we are in this world is anything but holy. Because we believe our identity is a body, we believe we are vulnerable, weak and in need of constant defense. This defense is maintained in the mind with judgment that separates the self from everything perceived in the world.

This judgment can lead to a sense of being alone but also can be acted out with extreme viciousness. This false self does not appear holy. In fact, claiming holiness is at least considered arrogant and may also be called blasphemous.

This false identity denies the truth of the Self that remains eternally united with Its Creator. We need to be reminded again and again that our true Self is the Son of God. To accept this fact, we need to forgive the false images we have made which deny the Self we Are. If we believe a brother is his body and what it does and says, we are denying our true Self. In truth, the Self we are is the same Self that is the truth in our brother.

The Holy Spirit in our mind is our Guide to forgive the mistaken beliefs that make us unaware of the holy Self that is God’s Son. Today we ask: “Holy Spirit, help me see past my mistaken beliefs to the truth of Love’s eternal presence. Please heal my fear-based thoughts. I am grateful that I can count on your strength to support my willingness to learn the truth that I am the holy Son of God.”

Opening Our Minds to God’s Gifts

⁷To feel the Love of God within you is to see the world anew, shining in innocence, alive with hope, and blessed with perfect charity and love.

Simply do this: Be still, and lay aside all thoughts of what you are and what God is; all concepts you have learned about the world; all images you hold about yourself. ²Empty your mind of everything it thinks is either true or false, or good or bad, of every thought it judges worthy, and all the ideas of which it is ashamed. ³Hold onto nothing.

Is it not He Who knows the way to you? ²You need not know the way to Him. ³Your part is simply to allow all obstacles that you have interposed between the Son and God the Father to be quietly removed forever. ⁴God will do His part in joyful and immediate response. ⁵Ask and receive. ⁶But do not make demands, nor point the road to God by which He should appear to you. ⁷The way to reach Him is merely to let Him be. ⁸For in that way is your reality proclaimed as well.

And so today we do not choose the way in which we go to Him. ²But we do choose to let Him come. ³And with this choice we rest. ⁴And in our quiet hearts and open minds, His Love will blaze its pathway of itself. (A Course in Miracles, W-189.1:7;7:1-3;8:1-9:4. See also ACIM Lesson 189 Insights.)

God has never stopped including His Son in all His Love. We live in His Love. Engaging in a dream of specialness and separation has no effect on our Home within His Love. But while we are in this dream we are unaware of His all encompassing Love.

God calls to us unceasingly to lay aside our wishes for something different, our preferences, our opinions that seem to differentiate us from everyone else. In this dream we do not know that all we really want is to extend the Love of God. This is our true Will.

Today we ask the Holy Spirit’s help to lay down our thoughts of individuality and differences, with open hands to receive God’s gifts. Our true Self shares the peace and joy of God’s Love with the world.

Learning Holy Spirit’s Lessons in True Perception

²Neutral thoughts are impossible because all thoughts have power. ³They will either make a false world or lead me to the real one. ⁴But thoughts cannot be without effects. ⁵As the world I see arises from my thinking errors, so will the real world rise before my eyes as I let my errors be corrected. ⁶My thoughts cannot be neither true nor false. ⁷They must be one or the other. ⁸What I see shows me which they are.

²What I see witnesses to what I think. ³If I did not think I would not exist, because life is thought. ⁴Let me look on the world I see as the representation of my own state of mind. ⁵I know that my state of mind can change. ⁶And so I also know the world I see can change as well.

³I would look upon the witnesses that show me the thinking of the world has been changed. ⁴I would behold the proof that what has been done through me has enabled love to replace fear, laughter to replace tears, and abundance to replace loss. ⁵I would look upon the real world, and let it teach me that my will and the Will of God are one. Our perceptions are always a choice. If we want separation to be real, we will perceive separate images, separate people, different personalities and believe we have private thoughts we share with no one. If we choose to accept the reality of Love’s oneness, we will see Love in everyone, in everything and everywhere. This is the effect of which guide we choose for our perceptions.

We have an inner Teacher Whose purpose is to guide us to awareness of our real Thoughts, Thoughts of Love. These are the Thoughts of our True Self, which have never ceased. They share the eternal nature of God’s Love. We are only unaware of these thoughts while we value separation.

If we are willing to pay attention to our Inner Teacher and accept His lessons, we will learn to withdraw the value we have given separation and specialness. As we do this, thoughts of separation will fade into the nothingness from which they came. Our experience will be increasing happiness, peace and Love. This journey returns us to awareness of the Life we live in God.

Seeing with the Light of Love

I will there be light.

²I will use the power of my will today. ³It is not my will to grope about in darkness, fearful of shadows and afraid of things unseen and unreal. ⁴Light shall be my guide today. ⁵I will follow it where it leads me, and I will look only on what it shows me. ⁶This day I will experience the peace of true perception.

There is no will but God’s.

²I am safe today because there is no will but God’s. ³I can become afraid only when I believe there is another will. ⁴I try to attack only when I am afraid, and only when I try to attack can I believe that my eternal safety is threatened. ⁵Today I will recognize that all this has not occurred. ⁶I am safe because there is no will but God’s.

²Let me perceive this in accordance with the Will of God.
³It is God’s Will you are His Son, [name], and mine as well.
⁴This is part of God’s Will for me, however I may see it. (A Course in Miracles, W-87.1;3;4:2-4. See also ACIM Lesson 87 Insights.)

To “will there be Light” is to see all things in Love. Light is an attribute of Love. If we see our brother with Love, we see him one with us as the Son of God. Love’s Light dispels the shadows of the ego’s thoughts of separation. When we see with Love’s Light, we are at peace, for we know we are invulnerable in the sure protection of Love’s changelessness.

Due to our wish for specialness, we have aligned with the ego’s denial of God’s Love. The effect of this denial is a dream of fear and guilt, lack and loss. Whenever we do not feel peaceful, happy and loving, we have aligned with the ego’s thoughts. A sense of vulnerability and weakness is inevitable because the ego denies the only Source of strength.

But our true Self is one with the Source of all strength, which is ours now and forever. Today we remind ourselves that, in truth, we share God’s Will and accept His strength as our own.

Lifting the Veil of Judgment

9-6-22

My sinless brother is my guide to peace.
My sinful brother is my guide to pain.
And which I choose to see I will behold.

Who is my brother but Your holy Son? ²And if I see him sinful I proclaim myself a sinner, not a Son of God; alone and friendless in a fearful world. ³Yet this perception is a choice I make, and can relinquish. ⁴I can also see my brother sinless, as Your holy Son. ⁵And with this choice I see my sinlessness, my everlasting Comforter and Friend beside me, and my way secure and clear. ⁶Choose, then, for me, my Father, through Your Voice. ⁷For He alone gives judgment in Your Name. All our judgments — likes and dislikes, opinions, expectations — are built upon the belief that we are separate and alone. They keep us imprisoned in a world of separation, unaware of the heavenly Love that is our natural habitat. Our judgments make us blind to the truth in our brothers and ourselves.

We can use our perceptions of the world and our brothers as signs that show us the need for healing our mind. The ego’s judgments are always based on perceiving forms of separation. When we identify with the ego, our judgments keep us separate from our brothers and our Source.

To free ourselves from this prison, we need to turn over all our perceptions, our judgments, to the Holy Spirit. His judgments are always true. He knows only Love is real. What He judges as unreal, He dismisses because He knows it has no effect. He shows us the sinlessness in our brothers. He offers us Christ’s vision, which shows us the Love that is our brother.

As we see the Love in our brother, we recognize It in ourselves. We bless our brothers who are one with us in the innocence of Love.

Accepting the Will We Share with God

This is my holy instant of release.

Father, it is today that I am free, because my will is Yours. ²I thought to make another will. ³Yet nothing that I thought apart from You exists. ⁴And I am free because I was mistaken, and did not affect my own reality at all by my illusions. ⁵Now I give them up, and lay them down before the feet of truth, to be removed forever from my mind. ⁶This is my holy instant of release. ⁷Father, I know my will is one with Yours.

And so today we find our glad return to Heaven, which we never really left. ²The Son of God this day lays down his dreams. ³The Son of God this day comes home again, released from sin and clad in holiness, with his right mind restored to him at last. The Course offers us many ways to look at our experience in the world. But at their core, they bring us one message: The world of form, of separation and loss, is not our will and therefore it is not real. The Will of our true Self is one with God’s. In any instant of full acceptance of this fact, we return to the Heaven of God’s Love.

We are not the ego, the wish for specialness. But we have invested heavily in this wish. We have come to believe that we are a body, different from all others. This belief stands as a barrier against knowing our true will.

We can take a step today toward accepting our true will by reminding ourselves that we are not a body. We are willing to let Love guide our thoughts and actions. We ask the Holy Spirit to add His strength to our willingness to accept the truth. With this practice, our release to awareness of our Home in Heaven grows more clear.

Becoming Vigilant for God’s Love

²My mind holds only what I think with God.

³That is a fact, and represents the truth of What you are and What your Father is. ⁴It is this thought by which the Father gave creation to the Son, establishing the Son as co-creator with Himself. ⁵It is this thought that fully guarantees salvation to the Son. ⁶For in his mind no thoughts can dwell but those his Father shares. ⁷Lack of forgiveness blocks this thought from his awareness. ⁸Yet it is forever true.

²Because [forms] are illusions, they are not perceived to be but what they are; defenses that protect your unforgiving thoughts from being seen and recognized. ³Their purpose is to show you something else, and hold correction off through self-deceptions made to take its place.

²Open your mind, and clear it of all thoughts that would deceive, and let this thought alone engage it fully, and remove the rest:

³My mind holds only what I think with God.

⁴Five minutes with this thought will be enough to set the day along the lines which God appointed, and to place His Mind in charge of all the thoughts you will receive that day.

They will not come from you alone, for they will all be shared with Him. ²And so each one will bring the message of His Love to you, returning messages of yours to Him. ³So will communion with the Lord of Hosts be yours, as He Himself has willed it be. (A Course in Miracles, W-rIV.in.2:2-8;3:2-3;5:2-4;6:1-3)

There are only two orders of thought. The ego-based thoughts make illusions of form as decoys to prevent us from recognizing our real thoughts. The thoughts we share with God are our only real thoughts. They always extend His Love.

As we clear away the decoys the ego made to let our mind focus on the thoughts we share with God, we dwell in peace and happiness. There is no conflict, for Love does not judge. There is no fear because only Love is real. Fear only seems to occur when we believe lack of Love is true.

We dedicate today to welcome God’s Love in our mind. It takes vigilance for Love only because we have established a habit of being vigilant against His Love. We have already established the power we have given to habits.

Now we will use this power to form a habit of vigilance for Love to undo all our habits that stand as barriers against Love’s presence. We are worthy of the effort. God has promised we will succeed because the goal is simply to accept only the truth of His Love.
